I read somewhere that after Day 1, the retention Dept was not going to be giving away freebies. There job is to try and fix any problems that one is having, and nothing else. If this is true, then the new company will be just like #1, and #2. :indiff:

I was out of contract with Sprint in July, I kind of liked the idea of being a "free agent". After 3 weeks of looking at *cough* Verizon, Cingular & those Tmobile crooks, I came to the conclusion that Sprint was the only carrier to go with. Despite having dropped calls in my house, I decided to call retentions and do a little negotiating. Told the rep after a year of service, I was not 100% satisfied and that I was looking to take my hard earned money elsewhere. He told me he could get me a great plan (see sig). After that, I said sign me up for 2 more years you fool! Hurry up too! lol. BTW, I can't stand 2yr deals... but this was a no-brainer. :Popcorn2:

I emailed customer service lastnight and I was offered 1000 AT minutes for $45 (but only area wide). I did notice that a business care person emailed me back - probably because of my 25% business discount. My current retention plan is 750 AT minutes w/ free 7pm nights for $40 (nation wide). I have been a customer for 3 yrs and I don't think they will give me anything else. I'm gonna hate it when I get the new A940 or Blade and need to add Vision.

Hmm... that a good plan! I think I might consider switching to that plan when my contract is up for my $100/mo for 2000 minute plan expires. I actually pay for picture mail on one of the phones or $7.50/mo which includes unlimited SMS.

I think it comes down 2 how many minutes you need, With everyone on my account at work during a/t minute use (except me who gets off work at 430-5pm)
i doubt if we will even make it to the 800 minimum mins this month (were at 397 a/t with 2 weeks left in the billing cycle)......So our calling habits don't warrant a 2000-2500 minute plan, its amazing 3-4 years ago there is no way a family plan with 6 lines sharing minutes would be able to keep a/t minute use below 2000.......a guess its a sign of the times...............

I just called and asked if i could get a 10% loyality discount on all my lines because i have it on 1 of my 4 lines the rep told me that the code expired but gave me 5% instead on those 3 lines and i asked if FIMF was available again in my area (NY/NJ) and she was like no problem I can add that and within 2 mins it was already showin on my usage. So retention is still giving out deals it was just yesterday reps were not so giving.

800 Min. Family Plan $ 70.00
Second line Free
3rd line $ 10.00
Free roaming
Free PCS to PCS
Free 7PM Nights & Weekends
$10 Vision pictures pack on primary phone only
$5 Unlimited text on primary phone only
5% additional discounts.
Not as good as what other people are getting but makes this more on par with what I would get with Verizon. Plus I'm not out of contract...

Not so bad since im already paying 100.00 for 2000 minutes. I think im gonna try to get a little more out of them though like free roaming and maybe free aap for a 3rd ln w vision.

They wont give free 7pm and free roaming, the codes "clash." You might get lucky with a $10 AAP and the 1/2 "normal" price vision. Any of your vision plans unclude UL text messages?

Yeah i have the old grandfatherd vision with unlimited SMS. When i spoke to the rep she said my vision would remain the same since its an add on service. Im already gettting it free on my mn ln and pay 7.50 on the 2nd ln and she said it would stay that way. By the way has anyone recived any discounts on new phones through retention? When i was speaking with the rep i told her i wanted to upgrade to the Sanyon mm 8300 for both of my lines and she told me i would have to pay 149.00 when online it is 79.00 with the web special and 129.00 without the web special .

Hi
Was planning to get a new phone a couple of weeks ago, but stopped myself after finding this site. You guys have some awesome deals!
Can you pass along some advice on how to get them? I keep meaning to call up Sales or Retention, but frankly, I have no idea what to say or ask for. Is it as simple as calling up and saying what can you do for me?
I have a corporate discount plan (27% off). I had a 2 year contract, but its been over for about 3 years (!) and I still have my original phone (I know, shocking). The particulars:
$29.99 - 200 anytime minutes - 1800 nights and weekend
27% off plus fees and taxes means I pay about $27 a month. I dont need a lot of minutes (usually use only 120/200 and 200/1800 per month).
Now I'm looking to get an extra phone for a family member (also low usage) for as cheap as possible.
I called the corporate number and asked for my options, and they said
39.99 for 500 anytime /unlimited nights and weekends
20.00 per month for add a phone
plus
150 credit for 1st phone (equipment replacement)
150 credit for 2nd phone (2 year contract)
forgot which, but for one of the credits, I could only do it in-store
Basically, zero discount. Is it because I already have 27% off? Or is it because I just didnt ask correctly?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

To answer your question............. NO. You pretty much have a top of the line plan for one line. Your getting 7pm nights and mobile to mobile for free, saving $10 there PLUS getting vision with UL text for about 1/2 of what new customers are being asked to pay.
Please refrain from posting the same question in multiple threads.

So tell them exactly that....... what plan can you offer me for a one year agreement? YOu might lose nights at 7 for free, but thats about all that you should lose. The free 7pm is a perk for the 2 year agreement, and retention minutes generally start at 8. Be straight with them, and be willing to tell em your not going to sign back up. I assume the 29.99 plan is fair and flex and the 39.99 plan is a free and clear plan?

Been with Sprint since 1998. We never end up getting phone rebates, but every few years we call to see what a loyal customer might get to commit to another contract. We have a multi line account and a single line account. The single line contract was up last month.
Fair enough for loyal customers who pay on time every month.
(This was done by a regular CS person. Very nice man. I did have to push for the 7pm nights, but not too hard.)

I wanted extra lines for free!!!
What sprint is competing with:
Verizon:
2100 First Two Lines - Unlimited IN Calling AND Night & Weekend Home Airtime Minutes on All Lines $109.99
Additional Lines $9.99
Cingular:
Nation 2100 FamilyTalk w/Rollover $109.99 first two lines
$9.99 per addl. line
T-Mobile:
$99.99 for 2000 AT minutes shared over 2 lines
$9.99 each additional line
Alltel:
$99.99 for 2000 AT minutes
$9.99 for EACH extra line.
All of the above do not include as many minutes as sprint does with your offer. Each charges $10 per extra line, just like the sprint offer. None of the above have a service like "vision" included in the plan price and most are DAMN expensive!
If your not happy with the sprint offer, then perhaps their is no pleasing you? :) The fact that paying one fee for most account options carries it over to all lines is amazing. Free 7pm nights, $5 roaming and the chance you can get Vision on the new lines for cheap shold be reason enough to stay.

Keep In Mind That It Takes Months Of Calling And Negotiating To Have Freebies Added To An Account, And Still You Dont Get Everything. Just Dont Be Rude, Or Pushy. Just Becuase You Have Been A Customer For "x" Amout Of Time, Dosent Mean That You Deserve Anything.

Thanks FOR THE REPLY, but again $10 for an extra 500, that I don't use all of my 2000 now.
Also keep in mind Verizon, Cingular and T-Mobile also have cooler phones, but most important to me Good and many bluetooth phones.
But really again thanks for the information on the other plans, I will try to use it in my quest for the perfect plan with Sprint.

Took a bit of research.......... remember GSM carriers don't have the coverage that sprint / verizon offers. If you want cool phones, perhaps waiting till november for the EVDO phones would be in your interest? I would rather stay with sprint if you use vision as it seems that other companies data plans are far more expensive for what sprint gives you.
In the end, its what works best for YOU though!

My sig is my current retention plan, and I pay $56 a month. I was offered with out asking free 7 p.m., and UN/L SMS for $5. They also told me about the 10% Sprint discount, but I am done with contracts. In December my butt will be free, and I plan to keep it that way.

Good negotiating skills - that's a great plan! Could you give us some tips?
1. What was your prior plan?
2. Did you negotiate this deal in pieces or all at once?
3. Were you still under contract and/or did you threaten to bolt?
4. How long ago did you get this plan? $85/2000min promo has been gone for a while.
Thanks.

Using leverage to negotiate a deal is not fraud. This happens all the time in the business world. WalMart is constantly calling its suppliers to re-negotiate contracts with lower prices, with the threat of taking its business elsewhere. (Not that I want to defend WalMart's ethics, but they are far from unique in this regard).
And Sprint is certainly in no position to question customer ethics when it charges customers different prices for the same services. If Sprint was ethical it would adopt a true fixed price policy (like T-Mo) without freebies and other benes for those who call to negotiate. Clearly the company prefers and encourages the current system because the vast majority of its customers never call to request a better deal.

That post was directed to MrTripod because he got mad at me over at HoFo that because I have an ex who is gaining access to my account and using the information in the account to stalk me, that I said that cause of the situation, I keep applying customer credits to my account, as well as every single retention freebie I my boyfriends codes will get me. Because sprint does not value my security, even though I have very detailed notes. Anyone who's Sprint phone number I get, I put them on a discount plan for a 25% off from the employer. Yes technically it is abusing the system. But I have been with Sprint since the beginning of june, and moved twice because of their security holes.

Actually the sprint manager I'm sort of dating right now hands me discounts all the time. I've got a Sprint polo and his login and codes, I've walked right behind the counter before and added tons of crap to not only my own account, I've shown up with all my friends phone numbers (people whom I justknow they have a sprint account based on the m2m usage on the bill) and get them hooked up with *something* even if it's just an employer discount (25%) for an employer they don't actually work for, just to have the discount. I've also done the reverse too, I had someone who was harrassing me, and I had someone call them one time, and got the "please wait while the nextel subscriber you are calling is located" so effective day 1, I've started messing with their account. My powers are many around Chicago because I've secret shopped every carrier at one point in time or another. I worked briefly at AT&T, and also at an Indirect Nextel. My high school girlfriend is store manager at a US Cellular, I'm dating a Sprint. My AT&T Rep keeps me well hooked up and informed (see below why) Because of networking, I'm sure I could pull strings with Verizon.
My current BF is aware of what I've done, He has commented before about actually hiring me because he has said that I know more about Sprint services & plans, including old ones no longer in the system than he does, and he's been working for Sprint since 1998, He opened the call center in Bolingbrook, IL and closed it. He has joked that it's customers like me that make most call center employee's hate their jobs. Mostly because I stand my ground so much, and the rep hands me whatever to get me off the line, and doesn't properlly note the account, then a later rep has to figure out why, ends up removing something, and I have to call back.
I hold more power with Sprint because
#1 it's a business discount line, Which typically the reps are willing to give you more features in general- But I actually worked for the company I got the discount with. Never bothered to have it updated. Everytime I've tried to call and have it switched, it becomes a disaster, and I lose features, blah blah blah, So the reps on the phone just tell me to stay where I am until Sprint actually removes it, which most likely will never happen, even though I work at another company with a 25% discount.
#2 there are 4 lines on the account, So they see the opportunity for more revenue with insurance, as well as vision plans and other add-ons. I'm not your typical sprint customer. Because I get unlimited vision downloads on the 2 lines I carry, I download a lot, All my lines get unlimited text. One of my ex's still has a phone on Sprint (the reason we actually went to Sprint in the first place was for the unlimited text $5.00 add-on on vision. It came to $15.00 per line, and we were paying $19.99 with AT&T for 1,000 messages, no internet. We got a $10 download credit on Sprint, So it was cost effective for for me to get Sprint and he gave me the AT&T phone back which one of my other friends now uses. Since 6PM was added to the second line for free, and I had the primary line only at the time and only used it for M2M with that particular ex. He paid 1/2 the bill, and so did I. Now with me carrying 2 lines (the primary, and the 3rd line) and one of my other friends carrying line 4. They both pay $40 a month flat for their voice, internet & text. I've got so many credits on the account I'm not going to ever pay a sprint bill because I'm working ahead by calling every day via the 1-800 number with all 4 numbers manually entered in, and doing the dropped call credit trick. ($40 worth of credit a month)
#3 They assume (Customer Care) that one of the 4 users on my account works for Sprint because 2 of the lines have the 3rd party dealer vision code (Unlimited text, Multimedia subscriptions & downloads). They (customer care) leave that alone because the two attached phones are the 8300 and the Treo 650 respectively, So they just assume those lines are kept like that to demo features in addition to the employee line that whatever user has on the account. But they have actually questioned that feature before and I just say my BF works for Sprint, Which is why I gave up my 30% discount at Cingular because we can have unlimited m2m. Since direct Employee's are limited to the $10.00 unlimited voice line, but have to pay for the downloads, THey just assumed that the bf carries 3 phones to demo features.
#4 My account was set up without my SSN in the beginning, Sprint some how obtained this SSN number, attached it to the account, and about 2 weeks later my ex from hell started stalking me again. Cingular has gone against company policy to create an account without a SSN attached to it, and only one rep within the executive offices is permitted to touch the account, otherwise it'll get jacked up. I simply shoot her a text with whatever issues I may be having and they are resolved quickly. When Sprint was asked to do this, on a confrence call, with a copy of police report faxed to them, with the police, myself, and the rep from Cingular's executive offices cornering the woman at Sprint's executive offices, it was made clear there was nothing they "would" do, even though they could actually do something to resolve this from happening with the exception of letting me out without an ETF. After she was let off the line, the police and Cingular both told me to change all my billing information to addresses that couldn't be traced to me, and that's when the cingular rep said to use their corporate mailing address in Washington State (old AT&T offices) she get's the bill every month and faxes it to me, and this past month I finally went paperless. Because even if the paperless on the website doesn't work, the store can still print my bills for me. Once I found that out I had no problems with going paperless. Cingular (At&T) has tried to sell me on paperless billing since day one, but because of billing issues with T-Mobile who had good customer service, and the horror stories I always heard about AT&T, I wouldn't do it. Heck. My Cingular rep DHL's me my bill every month because for some reason I can't get detailed information on the bill having an NBO discount.

If I was a Sprint Manager or in the position to, I would personally look up and investigate , and fire your friend.
Not because you have his codes, etc, because you run your mouth about it and give details of where this and that took place, etc.

My prior plan was the area wide $45 plan and had a year left on the contract. I was happy with that plan since I did not travel much and did not have use for that many minutes. As my family grew so did my plan. I called sprint around feb of 04 and straight out asked for the $85 plan. I don't know if it's even in their system anymore now. So the rep took a while to look up the code and added it with 2 lines, one free. A month later I added another line which was $20 at the time. Around this time I got an e-mail from sprint telling me about how much of a valued customer I am and would recieve the 5% loyalty discount. Soon there after I discovered this website and learned about corporate discounts and I sure as hell did request that, since my corporation gets a 25% discount. Couple of months later I added a third line, the rep told me that he can add the additional 4th line for $10, without me even requesting it. I did so and realized since my 4th line is $10 so the 3rd line should be $10 instead of $20, so I e-mailed sprint, asking if they can cut me some slack. They did one better and made the 3rd line absolutely free. So I was kind of curious as to why I was being treated like royalty, I called again just to figure it out, got a really nice rep who told me a lil too much info then she should have. She explained how my credit is excellent and I can add up to 10 lines and I have 5 $ signs on my account. Which is how they rate and treat you when you call sprint. I knew I was pushing it at this time but went ahead and requested if I can get nights & weekends at 7pm for free. She gave me a better option and removed the $10 unlimited nights & weekends and added the n & w starting at 7pm for $5. I ended up saving another $5 on my bill. Sprint has really been good to me, I believe the reason is my good credit. So next time you get to the retention dept, just know that they will only offer customers with outstanding credit the best plans and freebies.

The $$$$$ signs on the account have to do with:
Plan value
Payment history
Initial credit rating assigned by sprint
Now all of that being said, some people with less than perfect credit scores can get great plan's. The fact that you went "up" to an $85 plan and were paying $20 for your 2nd AAP putting the plan total at over $100/month has alot to do with how they treat you. If that $85 plan charged you $10 for n/w.... its a good plan now, but in 2000ish my wife and I went on a $100/month 2000AT plan with free AAP free vision on both lines grandfathered that included anything vision had such as pic mail, text....
Credit ratings with sprint are a bit of a mystery. MY wife's FICO score is 695-700 and yet she can have only 2 lines?? Something is strange there.

You can get 7PM nights for free by sending CS an email. Just click on the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page once you are logged into your account. Just tell them your friend has gotten it and you would like to know if you can get it too. They should reply back by telling you you are good to go.
As for the 1000 minutes for $40 offer, you can't get it now, but you CAN get it after you are a customer for 30-60 days. For that you will need to call the retention department and just straight out ask for the plan. Use the same scenario as you use for the 7PM option. :wavey:

I had 750 A/T for $40 with a $20 AAP on the 2nd line, both sharing the minutes. So for $10 more, I don't think its to shabby.
That's a nice little package they have given you, not bad for 3 lines for 70$ No way to get vision and text on those lines by any chance?

I really didn't ask. I've never used Vision that much, only on trials where we had a few months for free. The only thing I might run into is my daughter texting her friends. That seems to be a big fad amongst her friends. But for now, she'll just have to call them.
I wasn't trying to lie about anything, but I forgot to mention that they couldn't give me 50 min roaming on the third line. I got the "there's no code for that anymore" line from the rep. Also, I didn renew my plan. So that may be the reason I got the 2yrs of PCS/PCS. And hopefully thats on all the phones and not just the main line. I haven't called them back to clarify everything yet, I haven't had time. The only other thing I could ask for would be a loyality cut, like 5 or 10 percent, and maybe 7pm n/w for free. I was also elgible for a 150 off a new phone since I still have my old vga 1000 since it first came out. So I upgraded to the new Samsung A840. I hope its a good phone. I'm not a big phone guy, but I really liked my vga 1000. Hopefully this one is pretty good.
One last thing. I saw in this thread or another, about emailing ecare and asking for the free 7pm n/w. Has anyone done this? You think it would be to soon to email them since I only got this a few days ago? What's the difference between calling and emailing them, is it two different groups?

I just got the 1000 AT minutes for $40 with N&W starting at 8pm. All I did was call *2 and ask the rep very nicely about this plan that my friend got. She found it and tried putting it into the computer w/o a contract extension and it worked. But she had to take away my PCS2PCS because to get that with that plan I'd have had to renew my contract. I figured, screw it, I'll give it up since I don't use all my minutes anyway and most of my friends aren't on Sprint.
When my contract expires in February I'm going to ask for 100 txt msgs a month free and 10% loyalty discount. Think it's too much?

Ok, I guess I'm greedy, but I called sprint today to check on my phone orders for my upgrade and new phone for the 3rd line, also to see why I couldn't log into my online account. While he was checking I nicely asked him about the free 7pm start that my friend was getting. I just told him I forgot to ask the last CS I spoke to about it. He said, man she really helped you out. I replied about being with them since 2001 and having 3 lines and renewed all my contracts with them. He said that he saw where we had been with sprint for almost 5 years. He said he could add the 7pm start time for free. Thats all I'll ask for. I'm very pleased with how sprint handles there customers. I've never had a problem with them at all. It seems the nicer you are with them the nicer they are with you. So, my total plan is:
$60 for 1200 A/T minutes, 50 free roaming minutes on first 2 lines, unlimited N/W starting at 7pm, free PCS/PCS on all 3 phones
Second AAP for $0
Third AAP for $10
Total cost $70 plus my company discount, forgot what it is though.

You might get the 10%, but good luck on the 100sms for free. Sprint is giving out plans that T-Mobile has/had, as thier regular plans. They are not giving to much up like that good old days. :indiff: They always offer me the 7 pm night, but I am not re-doing my contract for an extra hour. :bang:

The first time I called in, I was offered the 1200 a/t, n@7, with an AAP $20. I even mentioned that I'd be doing a 2 year.
I called in the second time, and I was offered, after I talked to the guy for a bit, sorta "sweet talked" I was offered 1200 a/t, with a free AAP, with n@7.
I didn't go with it right there, as he wanted to connect me with employee accoutns, and they were closed. He sugguested that I may be able to get a better plan.
What are the chanc3es that I can get free u/l txt, or free 500 txts for each phone? I also would like to get Ready Link, super cheap, or free, if possible.
Also, what are teh chances of getting bonus minutes put on each, like 180 on each phone?
And, are discounts stackable? I was thinking about the 10% discount for working at RAdioshack, and my wife works at Papa Johns(11%) and/or a 5 or 10% loyalty discount?
Not trying to ask for too much, but just want to know what the possibilities are...

You can not combine your discount with your wifes. You can get your discount combined with a 5%, or 10% loyal discount. Get 500 sms, or the un/l sms for free will be like hitting the Lotto. RL is $10, and there are a few very luck people that have gotten it for free, but they are the $100+ a month subscribers.

I was offered this plan.
1200 Anytime Minutes, with a free second line, for $65. I didn't ask, but I assume that I would receive nights starting at 7 p.m., with free pcs to pcs. I was offered this plan for $65 a month. I could add my 15% discount for working at Radioshack, making it.
The only problem is the text messaging. She offered me a sweet deal, only charging $11 a month for 500 txt messages for each phone. However, do we know if there is anyway to get that for free, or even more discounted?
I asked her about bonus minutes and stacking my 15% Radioshack discount with a 10% loyalty discount, and she said it couldn't be done.
What do you guys think?

You should be able to get unlimited text for $5 if they like you and free 7pm.
As for the discount, I was told that they couldn't do both a loyalty and My Shizack discount. Also if you add the RS discount, they will change your billing cycle to the 19th to match RS's cycle.

Ask if you can get the old Vision pack with the $5 unlimited text message add-on option, it would come out to $15 a line. But then ask if you can have vision for free on the second line, or vision at a discounted rate.

Right now I've got an old plan, $70, 2 lines 500 AT minutes.
Tonight, I was offered 2 lines, 1000 AT minutes, N/W at 8 (7 PM still $5 more), roaming included for $60. Plus I'll get a 25% discount through my work. Only need a one year contract.
Real problem is that I need a new phone, stores were only offering me $75 discount because the used phone I added to the acct was 18 mos ago.
They're offering me $150 off a phone, but only on a handful of phones and I have to get a two year contract...
Sanyo PM8300 [$150] (don't need all the features)
Samsung RL-A760 [$60] (no camera)
LG 125 [$40]
LG 325 [$70]
LG 225 [$70]
A660 - No charge
I was really wanting a Sanyo 7300 or the Samsung A840, any comment on the phones above or should I just go to eBay?

You can get 7PM nights for free by sending CS an email. Just click on the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page once you are logged into your account. Just tell them your friend has gotten it and you would like to know if you can get it too. They should reply back by telling you you are good to go.
As for the 1000 minutes for $40 offer, you can't get it now, but you CAN get it after you are a customer for 30-60 days. For that you will need to call the retention department and just straight out ask for the plan. Use the same scenario as you use for the 7PM option. :wavey:

My dad right now pays about $100ish on his plan of 1000 any time minutes (regional not nation wide) over 3 phones. I'll probably end up calling as him so he doesn't get hooked into signing for services he doesnt want. What kind of offers do you think he can expect?
I myself have one phone with 1000 ATM (regional). Already have 25% because of my job, could've been 30% if I signed another 2 years but I didn't want to be tided down by a contract again. Can I expect anything?
Both our 2 year contracts expired this month.
Is retention a special number or just *2 and tell them your contracts expired and was wondering if they'd offer you any discounts ect?

You see, I don't USE vision, at all. I mostly txt message, and would like ready link, but don't have to have it, as that would mostly be a toy.
She offered me $15 for both phones to have RL, and $11 for both to have 500 txts apiece.
I just would like to get the txt cheaper, as that's the only thing I really need.

Remember, UL text is $15 for one line and 1/2 price on "sub" lines now. If you can get "old" vision it is $15 for vision including UL text messages and they MAY be able to give you it 1/2 price on the sub lines anyways. If you go over the 500 messages that would be the way for you to go.......... as the overages will add up fast!

Understood, but the new UL text plan is $15/month, where vision and UL text was $15/month under the "old" system. You may be able to get a "better" deal on vision with UL text, ir vision with 500 text messages, than you can under the new system if you get the right rep.
My suggestion is to email eCare from the site and ask them what text messaging plans are available to you as a long term customer.

Correct, and if your doing it for him, you have to say you are him! Retentions will only talk to the account holder, and even once they say that they would rather "you" talk for them, its sometimes like pulling teeth.
What you get offered is based on the mood of the rep, what type of customer you have been, and what they have "left" to offer. I would bet that they are allowed to give away so much per shift, and they are supposed to do their best to keep the highest $$$$$ customers.
Talk to retentions with realistic goals, and suggest a plan or perk you kow that your friend gets and see how they reply. Some people can get $100 service credit for staying on top of a ton of perks and others are told they can leave if they want to. The general rule of thumb is, if you get hotlined alot (turned off) than you shouldnt expect much. If you pay on time and have a high MRC, then they will want to keep you!

Has 1st bill generated to confirm this change? If not, cross your fingers it doesnt get stripped back or that your $0.00 AAP's dont become one at 10 the next free. If the bill shows it this way and doesnt list an expiration date for the free AAP's then you got a great deal :)

I think retention is still there but not as willing to give. Select Services may be your last/best shot. Then retention which may call your bluff if you threaten to leave. Someone who works at Sprint probably would be best at answering your question, I am speculating based on ability to get stuff out of select services that i couldnt get out of retention. I have 1 line maybe if I had several retention would have worked. I basically hammered *2 and asked for a supervisor when they came on I asked what dept it was and they said select services

Retentions, select services, Gold............. all different names used for the same general dept. They will offer you something if your a good customer and probably tell you to walk if you are late with payments and or have a low MRC plan. The people that are most likely going to get good deals from them are the ones that already have a retention plan and those on $60+ plans now with more offered to those on plans at $100+.

I'm on a really old (1999) plan, 300min/$30, free N&W starting 8pm, older Vision pack $15/mo, + equip protection for my Treo 600.
I've wanted $10 vision, but could never get it before. I noticed on sprint's site that they broke it down, and now have $10 vision. So last night, I called to switch to that (I don't really SMS very much), and also asked them about free 7pm N&W, and free PCStoPCS, since I've been out of contract for a year.
They happily agreed, and now I think maybe I could have gotten them to throw in a few text msg/mo. Was this dumb for a new 2 yr agreement? Also, does anyone know if incoming text messages are also charged at $.10/min if I don't have a plan for text msging? Is there some way to turn it off, so I don't get random text msg charged to my account?
Thanks!

Whoah, nelly. Remember we all have different needs!
My girl has a 1 hour commute each way, transit or auto, so I can't blame her for filling dead time with calls to her friends, mom, etc. Not to mention that it means she wastes less time at home chatting with them - another plus! ;)
Divide 1000 min by 20 commute days (avg per mo), that's about 50 peak minutes, per day, not huge.
Since we switched to the 2000 min plan, we have been averaging 900 peak minutes and 1100 offpeak (not including pcs2pcs), though we're up to 1200 peak already this month. Therein lies the rub: If I switch to the old $85 F&C, I'm only saving $15, probably less if they hit me with an AAP charge. If I switch to the new $70 F&F plan, I would be up to $95 already this month.
Sadly, there is very little money-saving space these days between the 1000 and 2000 min plans. :(

It sounded like you were complaining about your girl. I remind my wife that she can call all she wants after 6pm or to any other sprint customer any time!
How much she talk to her mom? Would giving her mom a phone so the 2 of them could talk save you money? The $10 AAP for her mom might be a savings....... unless her mom is a big talker and will just burn up the minutes also......

My wife and I had wanted to replace our tired old phones for a while, so I called the Sprint call center. The first tier 1 rep I spoke with told me I had a $75 instant rebate on my phone but nothing on my wife's. I politely told him about the Cingular offer, and asked if he could offer me anything better. He said no. I asked if his supervisor could offer me anything better, and he said no (wrong). I asked to speak to the supervisor anyway.
He told me I would be transferred but I was promptly disconnected. Called back, waited on hold for 15 minutes, and got another tier 1 rep. He asked what he could help me with, and I told him he could help me speak to a supervisor. He tried going through the same routine the first rep went over with me, and I thanked him for his efforts but there really isn't anything he could do for me other than get me to a supervisor.
I ended up speaking with a call center manager. I told her about the Cingular offer.
"Look, here's my dilemma. I've been with Sprint for almost 5 years, but if I want to get two new phones I'll be shelling out $400 - $500 with you guys, or I can take my number with me to Cingular and get two new phones for free. I'm not asking for straight-up free phones, just a discount."
She told me she agreed that it didn't make much sense, and that she'd call me back in 15 minutes after checking into what she could do.
TEN minutes later I got a call with an offer for two $75 instant rebates, a $75 mail-in rebate, and a $75 service credit to offset the cost of the phones.
The next day (yesterday) my wife and I went out and picked up two Sanyo VI-2300's.
Excluding the fact that they were out of the pink model (sorry honey) we are both happy Sprint users again :headbang2

This is how a wireless company NEEDS to act. Sprint cant afford to lose customers because your contract is up, but you cant get a new phone!

I forgot to mention....
The biggest number that helped them see my problem was the early cancellation fee. If it was going to cost me $400 - $500 to get new Sprint phones then I wanted to switch service providers. My contract isn't up yet, so it would've been $150 to cancel early.
$150 + 2 free phones from Cingular is a better deal than $400 - $500 for two new phones with Sprint.
That was the main point that helped me out. Just an FYI for everybody.

$150 per line, which can get QUITE pricy! Im glad they found a way to get you taken care of, its obvious that you are a valued customer of sprint's!

$150 per line?!! They didn't tell me that when I asked. Even if that is the case (and I'm betting you're right) it still would've been cheaper to cancel early.

Yes, its $150 per "contracted" line. It can get very expensive on family plans. The good thing is you didnt have to worry about it, as they got you what you wanted :)
i dont even remember what my plan is...
we switched to F&F recently, would it work if i tell them i'm not fully satisfied with F&F and have been looking at other providers and their offers?
Could i slide in that i would be happy with free 7pm nights and free sprint2sprint, or maybe FIFM (dunno if they still do that tho)

romeluss:
The $60 (free AAP) 1200 min. AT plan is a standard retention plan available to anyone Sprint deems eligible. The freebies I have (free 7 PM N/W, FIMF, PCS-PCS & 5% loyalty) are not included in the plan and were all negotiated seperately over the last couple of years. They were grandfathered in on the 1200 minute plan.
I was on the $40 (plus $20 AAP) 750 minute plan when I read about the 1200 minute on one of these forums. I figured I could get 450 extra minutes for the same price so I called CS, said I had heard there was a 1200 minute plan for $60 with free AAP and asked if I was eligible for it. When they said yes I asked if i could get my freebies grandfathered in and they agreed to it in exchange for my signing a new 2 year contract.
Mind you I have excellent credit, always pay my bills on time and have been with Sprint almost five years. I am always exceedingly polite with CS.
Call CS (or email) and politely ask if you're eligible. If you're shot down say thank you, hang up and call back later and try another rep. This process is somewhat a roll of the dice and depends largely on which CS rep. you get. Your history and credit with Sprint also determine your eligibility.
Good luck.

well originally i had the texts free, but 20% less discount. They covered the mistakenly added 5.00 + tax monthly texts charge and added a little discount beyond that. But this was after 495084 failed attempts to fix it and an email to Exec services, and two more phone calls w/ them.
Plus 7+ yrs of service and all on time/early payments :) I guess it does pay off - but I think its also a standard retention plan w/ just some extras, so not unheard of.

This is what I've got last weekend.
$100 for 2500 min
0$ roaming
0$ PCS to PCS unlimited
0$ 7pm N&W unlimited
0$ vision on first phone
0$ add a phone on second phone
$10 add a phone on other lines (3 to 5)
10% loyal discount
25% bussiness discount
Is it a good plan? I didn't get FIMF and vsion on second line.

ordered ppc-6700 w/o adding EVDO service
set up pop3 account, figured what the hey, didn't realize it would use the EVDO service every 10 minutes all month to check email. Got a bill for $/kb=$60. Had other issues as well. Customer since 1999, called retention and things got worse before they got better.
ended up with:
Fair and flexible
$89.99
1500 mins ($5 per 50 mins additional)
2 lines included
Sprint to Sprint
No roaming charges
9pm nighttime ($5/mo additional for 7pm)
Add additional lines for $10/month
10% loyalty discount
Line 1 – first bus retention rep told me I had lost my $75 credit (due to swapping phones with my wife a yr ago) and nothing could be done, second rep told me she would upgrade it to $150 and make it an “instant” credit applied at purchase
Line 2 – First bus rep told me I had lost my $150 credit (due to swapping phones with my wife a yr ago), second rep not only gave it to me but applied it retroactively to my ppc-6700 purchase last month.

I got offered 6 p.m., and I would still pay the same $56 a month. I keep telling then that my current plan is perfect for me, but they still offer it.

I don't personally have a retention plan, but I thought this info might help some people.
I work at Radioshack (cool plans w/ sprint), and I see a lot of people come in that have problems. Not eligible for upgrade yet, been w/ sprint a while, etc.
In almost all of these cases, if the customer is a good sprint user, and they've been with them a while, our personal sprint Reps can do a bunch. Each Radioshack has a sprint rep that they can call, and they can usually pull a few strings.
For instance:
I was helping one customer, he wanted to upgrade 3 of the 4 phones on his share plan, and wanted to add another line. But only 1 of his lines was upgrade eligible ($150 instant rebate), and another was partially eligible ($75 instant). My Rep actually came to the store to help me with this one. She made all of the lines upgrade eligible (mostly: $75 instant, $75 mail-in), and also gave him $25 credit on his account for each line ($200) for needing to wait for a mail-in. Then she checked his usage for the past few months, and put him on a plan that saved him $60 a month. Overall he was quite happy.
So what's my point? If you have problems, or if you got an offer from another service provider, as an associate at Radioshack if they can call their rep to see if anything special can be done. Most of the Radioshack employees should be able to do something for you (some may not have a clue as to what's going on, just ask for someone else, or ask to speak to the manager if this is the case. But be polite, don't be rude and demanding. Radioshack has managed to hire some idiots)

just got new plan today and new sanyo 8300 for $130 with no act. fee. Plan $100 for 2 phones 2000 anytime, ulimited n/wnds,nights start 7pm,vision and picture package,5%monthly discount, unlimited text message. My contract wasn't up till Feb. 06. Wifes phone fell in water.Went to sprint store and called csr. Said they could do nothing till feb. called back and told csr that I was going to cancel my service. Directed me to to another deptment and he gave me sanyo 8300 for 130. wifes phone only had 75$ credit towards new phone. Used that for the 8300. I still have 150$ credit for my 8100 and can go into store to get new phone! csr knocked off 5$ month charge for 7pm nights.

I was locked into the 1 year area wide 1000min 45.99/month agreement for one month. i don't like my samsung i500 and plan to get the blade, but after 11 months w/ nextel i was dissappointed to see they wouldn't give me a discount for a new phone.
I called the cancelation line, told the tmobile offered to pay my sprint early termina
