Well thanks to some of the info on here I was able to get a decent retention offer that allowed me to stay with sprint. The company I work for has a deal with Verizon to get employees up to 25% off of plan prices and a few minor discounts on phones.
So I called Sprint, I spent 2 hours on the phone explaining my situation before I was finally transferred to retentions department. The woman I spoke with at retention was very nice and she took care of me.
Final deal:
-upgraded two phone lines, one was not eligible for a $150 rebate yet (2 months away)
-Was able to get two touch phones for 150 each (almost at the 99 deal a few posts back)
-got free unlimited texting on 2 of the three lines
-20% discount on total plan cost
-would not make any deals on the data but I felt I had gotten what I wanted at this point
I hope these phones are good!

definitely call. mostly for the fact that retentions doesnt use email. but in any case, it's always easier to negotiate on the phone with a person than via email.

I need some help with an offer I want to make..
Currently I only have the 700min/mo family shared plan, with 300 free text. It looks like my bill per month (with insurance and taxes) is 79.99.
I want to get the pick 3 or sprint to home for free...have been a customer since 2004, and a way to get some sort of vision for free...we have gone over a min frequently...so i am wondering if sprint could hook me...
I currently have a katana and want a Samsung m520
My wife has my old 3100, she would be happy with a razr
Any help or ideas with this??
I only use my phone for txt, calls, taking pics of my daughter...
Thank you
That is worse than many of the current standard offerings! So the good news is that you should have no problems upgrading to a better plan.
I would ask for the following standard retention plan:
$50/1000min or $60/1200min
Free n/w at 6pm (fallback: 7pm)
Free pcs-pcs
Free sprint-to-home (this one is no biggie for them)
Free text (if they balk, remind them you already have 300 free and they will have no problem findina a code)
And new phones @ price match to sale price at best buy or radio shack
In sum, new phones, more minutes and $30 off per month ($400/yr!)

Greetings all,
As I'll be out of contract next month I've been perusing this thread as well as others, including SERO, exploring my options. I've only been a Sprint customer for 2 years so this is my first renewal experience.
My current plan is nothing special, picked it up online at normal pricing along with a recently discontinued Sanyo PM-8200 clearanced priced at $9.95.
400 min F&F - $39.99
unlimited Vision - $10
300 free text
Picture Mail
free Long Distance
unlimited nights & weekends & 7pm
Around 50 bucks a month plus taxes etc. I recently discovered my Govt agency gets a 15% discount so the bill will get a bit smaller starting next month, around 45 bucks.
This plan has done all I need it to for the last two years. I've never gone over AT minutes, don't text, have used Picture Mail infrequently. What's made it superior for me was the ability to tether with a Sanyo PM-8200. Slow but effective.
My needs have recently changed and I need more online speed.... both tethered as well as on the phone. I also need a PDA-type phone. I was pricing standard voice and data plans as well as phone-as-modem and SERO plans.
SERO gives me everything I need for a voice plan cheaper than what I already have. The unlimited data is a bit pricey for my uses and I haven't seen anything anywhere about the possibility of adding PAM to a SERO plan.
I used one of the direct numbers to contact Retentions and got a guy in New Mexico. After explaining what I needed and what I wanted to pay he thought transferring me to Business Retentions would result in better service. He sez they have more options and latitude in configuring and adjusting plans.
Business retentions offered a little, nothing earth-shattering.
The Palm Centro at online/upgrade price of $99, free ship & activation.
Same plan at the same price with 50% off the basic PV plan at $7.50
Unlimited PAM at the current promotional price of $39.99.
A recurring monthly $5 discount.
If I wanted to go with a USB aircard and data plan the card would be available at the online/upgrade price, unlimited data at the list price of $59.95/mo.
After reading all these posts reporting some pretty impressive retention offers I'm not seeing much of an effort to keep me from shopping, 5 buck discount/mo and $7.50 off PV..... In effect the monthly plan gives me everything I've got now except at EVDO speed for another 20 bucks/mo.
$39.99 voice
$7.50 PV
$39.99 PAM
After discounts it comes to about $69/mo.
Anybody think this is a decent retention offer? Appreciate comments & opinions.
Thanks... TL

$39.99 voice
$7.50 PV
$39.99 PAM
After discounts it comes to about $69/mo.
Get a SERO for $30 which will include the Unlimited Vision (data) + Unlimited Text. Then add the PAM for $40 and it'll be $70.
If you get a Palm or a WM PDA then drop the PAM and buy PDANET which will allow you to tether undetected. Effectively making your plan price at $30

Before you discuss anything more with retentions - go shop the competitors so you know exactly what you are looking at. It is always easier/better to negotiate with numbers to compare with. Go to the Sprint store and play with the PDA type phones if that is what you are interested in. Each of the phones have features that users either love or hate - these phones are very personal decision based on your own like/dislike of the interface and form factor.
Once you have done your homework, then call retentions and explain you have looked at Vzn, Att, whoever and they can offer you $XXX and include a (name model of phone) for $XXX. Tell them you would like to stay with Sprint if you can get SERO and if not SERO something comparable. Tell them the phone you are interested in.
Remember if you choose the BB pearl, you will need an additional BB plan at $30.
BTW get the NVP discount on your account ASAP. If you do manage to get SERO easily, it could carry over. It is not supposed to but a number of SU have the NVP discount on their plans. Good luck.

I called up retentions and told them what I had - a 5 year old grandfathered unlimited vision/text/pic and I wanted it to transfer over if I got an EVDO capable phone. Rep said no problem transfered everything, including putting my brothers phone which paid for EVDO separately since he upgraded last year under the same plan for the other 3 phones.
Didn't really give me much more info than that. Except she did dig around for the old 1500 minute plan.
Thanks for the info. I have free data/texts grandfathered on my phone, but I am paying $5 for 3 other Centros on my plan. Are you paying a fee for the additional lines on your plan? Or are you paying $110 for everything?
Current plan: $85 for 2k minutes on 5 lines, $10 for 7pm N&W, $30 for 3 additional lines (1 is free), $15 for unlimited data on 3 lines (1 is free), free texts on 5 lines, $21 for insurance on 3 lines.

That was my original plan. After seeing some of the plans that mirrored SERO I was thinking perhaps Retentions might offer something comparable. No such luck. Probably end up back at Plan A before it's over.

Everything you suggest is precisely my next move. Already have the NVP discount in place to begin next billing period with that thought in mind, which is the reason I got passed on to Business Retentions.
No hurry, contract doesn't expire til 3/15. After shopping and crunching numbers I just might be in a better bargaining position OOC. One thing for sure, I won't be changing carriers. Sprint is the only acceptable signal I get at home. I *won't* be sharing that info during negotiations, however. :hee:

I have had Sprint for 2 years now, so it was time to renew. I called Retentions directly from a number on this site, and eventually got what I was after.
First, I called and talked to a man and told him that I wanted to get two new phones (two different models), and I need to know the price before I committed to anything. I was thinking about getting a Centro for the wife, and I wanted the Moto Q9c. He told me that he could do the Centro for $99, and if I wanted that price I had to give him my credit card number right then. He wouldn't even look up my price for the Moto unless I bought the Centro first! I told him I would have to think about it and call back later.
I called back after about 10 minutes and got a woman who seemed interested in dealing with it. By this time, my wife had heard that I was planning to get her a phone that was inferior to mine, and she wasn't having any of that! So now I was looking at getting two Moto Qc9's. The lady told me that since I had traded my original phones in two months after I got them, I didn't qualify for the full discount on the phones yet... so to upgrade to the Motos would cost me $379 each!!!! :irked: I told her to have a nice day and ended the call.
I called back again about 10 minutes later and got a different lady. She was totally convinced that we were finally going to get my problem worked out and that I wouldn't need to call back again. That made me happy. After looking things over, she said that she could give me the full upgrade credit towards the new phones, and that she could give them to me for $149 each. She said she could wave the tax and activation fees. Now this was a pretty good deal, and I was thinking hard about going with it... except I had seen that my employer offers a discount through Sprint. So if I was a new customer and went used my employer's discount when I ordered, I could get the phones for $99 each! I knew that they don't get any cheaper than that, and now I wanted them for that price!! lol So I explained the situation to the lady, and she calmly explained to me that there was no way she could do that. She said that she could give me the Moto Q9c's for $149 each, and then give me a $50 credit on my bill so it would be like getting one for $99 and one for $149. She said she couldn't give me a better credit than that. I said I didn't want to have to lay out $300 all at once, and I really wanted to get that price. Then she said that she could give me a $10 per month credit for a year, so it would be like another $120 off the phones. I told her I would have to think about it and would call back. She said she couldn't guarantee the price. I said ok and ended the call.
I thought it over for about 20 minutes and realized that I should call back and try to get the deal I had just been offered. Once again I called back. I talked to a nice lady and I explained that I could get a great deal through my employer, and that since I was signing up for another two-year contract, I should be able to get that price. She asked who I worked for and said she go through the steps of buying one online to see what it told her. She said it showed the phones would be $125 each! She was a little dissapointed that it didn't tell her $99, so she said that she could give me the phones for $125 each and then credit my bill $50 so each phone would cost me $100. I told her that I like that deal, and asked her to please make it happen. She also credited my account for the activation fees ($18 a phone, I think), but then I had to pay sales tax (about $10 a phone). She said shipping would be free.
While I had her on the phone, I again said that I was signing up for another two whole years, and that I would like to get a deal on Power Vision Ultimate since it includes the web, GPS, TV and music. She said No Problem. It costs $25 per phone, but she said that she could credit me $15 per phone per month so the cost would only be $10 each. I thought that was about as good as it gets, so I had he sign me up right away before something changed.
The final deal:
2 year contract
Two new Moto Q9c's for $100 each
Power Vision Ultimate for $10 a month on each phone
My existing 550 minutes for $59
Unlimited N/W starting at 7pm
500 text messages
Unlimited picture mail
Unlimited Video mail
Unlimited email

My contract was over last Nov. Me and the wife finally got our income tax refund so I called retentions today. I told them I've been with Sprint for 7 years and was looking at switching to AT&T for the BlackJack 2 which has $49.00 sign on at Radio Shack. I told her I also love how the new Touch looks. I asked her if she could work out a deal with me. She told me to wait to see what she could do. Kind of seemed like Deal or No Deal because she was telling another guy about it in the background. :p Well she came back and said she couldn't match it but they could with the Centro. She starts telling me about the Centro and I'm like well I really like the Touch. So I asked if she'd know off $50. She told me she'd have to charge me $300 today and then credit $92(not $100 because of tax) back to my Sprint account. I agreed but my wife starts asking if she could get the Centro. So I asked her about it and told her my wifes plan isn't eligable for the $150 upgrade until Nov. of this year. She told me to hold on once again. Then she came back and said it was okay to do that. We could get the Centro for $99 with a new 2yr agreement. That worked for us and was the real deal breaker since now me and my wife have the same contract date and we got it as if she is eligable for the update. We should get the phone in 3-5 days. Then she waived the activation fees also.
In all the excitement, after the call I realized the Only think I forgot? SERO!!

current plan:
700 minutes/69.99 nights at 7, 2 lines (HTC Touch, Fusic)
$15 vision for each line
$10 unlimited texting for each line
$7 TEP for line one
26% NVP Discount
May have a 5% loyalty discount from way back in the day but cant remember if i still have it
so about $90 before taxes with two lines after discounts
Retention offer:
Offering my wife new phone of her choice at web price
Same plan and minutes
Free vision for each line ($30 in savings monthly)
$8 unlimited texting for each line ($4 savings monthly)
$7 TEP for line one (wanting to add it to line two for new phone)
15% loyalty discount in addition to keeping my NVP discount
roughly $60 before taxes
I know this is a killer deal here, however I may be switching jobs here in a few months therefor I would lose my 26% NVP discount which is HUGE! Is there any way sprint lets me keep that after i leave my company? or can i ask retentions to keep it on my account? We have until next sunday (24th) to decide because my account is going through migration right now. Let me know what you all think, thanks for the help.

look through other deals to evaluate..
I have 1200 mins, 2 lines, unlimited vision and internet on both, roaming, sprint to sprint, NW starting at 7, and I pay $33 or so before taxes..
Oh, and for phones, they offered me one touch for free, and one for 250, but my wife was happy with her phone, so they gave me a touch for around $150

wow you have a good plan. does yours include texting? we also have roaming and sprint to sprint cause of the power pack plan. Our plans would be comparable if you had texting for both lines the way i look at it.(though yours would still be a little cheaper) How did you get that cheap of a plan? This is the best offer we have gotten from sprint, the other times they were just going to let us walk. I dont need a new phone cause i have the touch (and love it!) but the wife needs one desperately.

I have had the primary line since Oct 1998 always paid on time. The plan has changed 3 times and is currently a corporate liable account, but we get a bill and pay the bill and get a 25% discount from Sprint. I am not sure if this could even be corporate liable - it just doen't sound right. My wife no longer works at the compay for which we receive the discount. My current employer receives a 20% discount from Sprint. They would not let me swap my daughter and wife's phone lines, 2 & 3, which would save $12.5.
They said the discount code was tied to the line and the code was so old that once removed it would be lost. I also asked about a 10% loyalty discount that was offered in Sept. I had called in about a brochure offering $100 credit to recommit. They said 25% was the maximum discount, even though in September they were going to apply it.

Not sure on the details of this, but I left a job recently that I had a corp discount on and it still remained on my account. I'm now back at that same company, but for the 4 months I was gone, nothing with any discounts on my Sprint account changed.

My friend has her own plan on my account cause of the discount. She went over her minutes 2 months in a row and I had to call. Turned out her 7pm nights accidentally got taken off and she was using her phone more starting at 7:00. They gave her credit and finally found the code to put it back on but when I called the 2nd month they said how about we offer you something for being a good customer. I didn't ask or expect anything but credit for her overages.
I used to be on the grandfathered 10 dollar unlimited vision and text. When I got my PV phone they made me switch. And I know some didn't have to. But it only went up 3 bucks so I took it. I was getting 15 dollar internet with a 10 dollar credit every month and unlimited texting for 8. I almost said oh give me 500 for free I don't need unlimited but then I was afraid they wouldn't give me my internet for 5 bucks. But the other night he said he was going to drop my internet to 10 bucks instead of 15 and still give me that 10 dollar credit and that he was going to make my unlimited texting 2.50 saving me 11 bucks a month. I hope it shows up cause I know I'll be changed to the new billing system this week and I am afraid of what is going to happen. He said this will stay on my account till November. I thought that was a good deal. But I won't believe it till I see it on my bill. Rose

I have 50/1400 (supposedly). I was offered it, and then called to confirm and the rep and his sup got maaaaad that i was offered that and basically hung up on me. I called ES and she said, nope not valid. I then called ret again and she said, yeah you were offered it so let me fix it. I called ES (different rep) and she said it looks good to go.
My first bill hasn't come in yet though, so we'll see what happens.

I will be coming up on the end of contract for 2 of the 3 phones on my account in April. I will be contacting retention to see what kind of phone deals and included services I can get for re-signing.
I'm not looking for much, just to keep the services I have now, with the exception of going from regular Vision to Power Vision and keeping the included text messages I have.
The last time I made changes and was told nothing would be changed left me with no Vision or text messaging.

How did you get pick 3? Every time I ask they have no idea what it is! Thanks.
I sent an e-mail to e-care and they gave me the direct retentions phone number. (Very surprising!) I called up and said I would have asked for it when I was negotiating my retention offer last week but I didn't know about it. I asked how much it would cost to add. She said she would do it for free and asked me for the numbers. I checked my account at sprint.com after and sure enough everything was on there, although it's labeled at sprint to home. I'm happy!!:tu:

Power Vision depends on the device that you have. You must have an EVDO phone to get power vision. If you currently have an EVDO phone you should have power vision. If not, then call CS and say you need to be switched over to PV.

For my phone, I switched over to PV when I got it last August (and re-up'd by 2 yr). It's the other two phones I have on my contract that are still on regular Vision (which is $0 extra on each phone). If I go through retention and re-up the contract on both phones and get phones with EVDO on them, it would be nice to get Power Vision included at no extra per month.

Thanks... TL
i called 3 different times; talking to 3 different people before i finally got what i want so i say call back n maybe you will get a better offer. do make sure when you call have notes to compare prices and features w/ other providers so they know you have been looking around (even for phone prices)

well the other five lines won't be free since I would have to pay $10 per line atleast till the next time when my contract is up.
back to original question I guess b/c I must have have been high value customers. I called retentions to cacel my account even though I would have kept them anyway n the first guy I spoke w/ offered it. I have had about a $150 plan after all discounts for about 3 years now and I have been w/ sprint for about six years total. within the the last 3 years I hardly called them for anything so that must have helped.
but within the last month I prob. called them about 20 times and over atleast 12 hours of talk time. first six was negotiating the actual price of phones n plan w/ 4 different associates. if you don't like what they offer just call back n talk to someone different. aggregating a bit what the previous associate said helps too. the more time u talk to one associate, at the end of it they are likely to offer more just b/c they might be tired of u. worked in my case.
typed all this on my new FREE q9c ;)

After getting the advise of a number of posts on this site. I finally got through and worded it correctly to retentions. I told them that I had a PPC6700 for the past 17 months. They could not see that I had it past June of last year b/c I changed account numbers. Went from a gov't account to regular and then to sero. I told them that I was not totally happy with my PPC6700 which is true. They asked me if I was thinking of canceling my account. I actually almost went with Verizon wireless a few months back but decided not to. I think that was the statement in which she gave me the Q9C for $99 instead of $450. I am happy to pay that for that phone. :)

I was recently awarded by being a courteous customer with amazing patience with retentions and tech support.
I am a law enforcement offical and in my line of duty I need to have reception at all times. Needless to say, my old Sanyo 2400 wasn't cutting it. Called up tech support, and after talking with them for over 5 hours he insisted that I receive 2 new phones for my family plan. He then transferred me over to a retentions rep who was very helpful.
After another 2 hour phone call with them I ended up getting 2 LG Rumors free of charge, unlimited text on both phones with $10/mth recurring credit. Add the 15% military discount, and I am sitting fairly well. Thank you Sprint for listening to your customers needs.

I called to get the Motorola Q9C, because my contract expires in April. They offered it to me for $100, and I asked for anything cheaper. She came back with an $83.59 Palm Centro. I took the Centro and since I have the SERO plan, no changes except she added free unlimited text. Needless to say, I am pretty happy with this. :D I didn't need any fancy discounts.

How should I try to reduce my Sprint phone bill or get a better plan (unlimited). I have been with Sprint since 3/98 (a few days away from my 10th year!) I have never dealt with retension or tried to cut any special deals. I did adjust my plan a few times, but in all cases I went with the plan that was currently available.
I have 4 line family plan (fair & flexible) off contract with the folowing recent billing history.
From my experience with sprint and many others in this forum, I believe that what you were promised should be of no problem to be add by the right people through the retentions department(I'm guessing they are the ones who offered this in the first place?). In the midst of Sprint becoming "tight on it's freebies" it may take a few hours I will warn you. Be polite and patient. Keep us posted

Your account might have been notated but doesn't mean you can't call back and try to re-negotiate. Many people here subscribes to the call back till you get a better deal idea. One word of warning though, try not to make too many calls. If its not going to happen its not going to happen. Also, are you out of contract? If you are they are a bit more helpful. If your not, then I suggest you wait till you are to re-negotiate.

I'm hoping someone from retentions can help me soon, as I'm really frustrated.
My most recent saga:
Renewed my contract around 7/07 when I purchased my 755p. Over the phone, I agreed to the "Fair and Flexible" plan for 39.99. I was told, because of some other billing mistakes, that my plan would include the "Power Vision" package.
On my next bill, I noticed an extra $19.99 charge. When I called, and also mentioned that I had had many more dropped calls than usual that month, I was told by a condescending CS rep that it was because I had the wrong plan - "what you have is like dial-up. You need the extra $20 fee - it's more like cable. Then you wouldn't have this problem." I explained that my problem was dropped calls, not data access. She eventually apologized, stated she would change my plan back to the $39.99, with Power Vision Plus. I casually asked about TV, and was told that it was included as long as I used channel 9, which was supposed to be the "Basic" TV.
So a few months go by without problems. Then I noticed an extra $10 tacked onto the end of each bill for a couple of months for TV access. Instead of getting into another fight over what I was promised, I simply stopped watching TV on the phone. However, for the past 5 months or so, I've still been getting charged $10/month. I called two weeks ago to explain that I'm getting charged for services I have NOT been using. Again, another apology, with a cryptic explanation, "It is included in your Power Vision Plus package, but you will be charged an additional $10 for access for any data, including TV. But if you use email or web surfing, you won't be charged. If you don't use TV, you still may be charged the $10, as you may want access for it sometime during the billing cycle." Er...my battery was running low at the time, and I had left my car charger at home, so I rolled my eyes and gave up.
Well, it continued. So I contacted them via email this week. My first reply was that it was NOT covered in my Power Vision Plus plan. I then received another reply (to a message I actually didn't send) stating that they were changing my plan to add $20/month for the "Sprint Power Vision Music" package. I did reply to that, stating that I never requested the music package, or any other new package for that matter.
After another call, I was informed that my bill would be credited $50 for the 5 months that have passed without my using TV, though the CS rep said she didn't know why I was being charged anyway.
Then I received an email two days ago stating that I did NOT have the power vision plan, but only the Fair and Flex plan, and that they had no idea why I've been able to use the web, email, etc. However, if I gave up the Fair and Flexible billing scheme, I would be eligible for a $20/month extra plan fee which would allow me TV premium, music, unlimited data, and supposedly MUCH faster data access. This plan would only include 400 anytime minutes. Total cost, approx $60.
After all this, is there something I should ask for through retentions? It always seems like the next CS person who emails me hasn't read much of the email history. I'm careful not to call all the time to get blacklisted, but I really do feel like my plans have been changed several times now without my consent, my contract (verbal and otherwise) has been violated, etc.
Basically, I want to use my phone primarily as a phone. I use it extensively for work. A few of my friends have Sprint, so mobile-mobile is a good deal for $5, and I rarely if ever text. I do check my email several times/day, as I receive many work-related emails, and web access is very convenient. Watching TV was cool when it was originally included in my plan, and it would be a nice perk, but not if I'm going to have to pay that much more.
Will this new plan really offer me the 400-700 kbps promised over what I'm told is only 40-70 kbps (though the "dial-up vs. DSL or cable" woman told me that my newer plan back in August or so would have that feature, but the latest email from CS says I don't have it?
As I am on the road occasionally for work, using my phone as a broadband modem for my notebook would be nice, but I've been quoted many different prices by the CS people via email and via telephone.
In summary, my contract has been changed, my plan has been changed multiple times without my consent, credits have been nullified, and I've been told many conflicting things re: what my current plan allows and what it won't. And I'm charged different amounts from month to month.
If anyone here has ever been able to negotiate a deal that includes high-speed internet (which I may or may not have,) a generous supply of anytime minutes (as it looks as if my "Fair and Flexible" plan may have been terminated by a confused CS person, possibly TV, though that's not a big priority, and, as a little perk, the ability to use my phone as a modem without getting gouged for, say, approx $80. Before I have to deal with fixing plans that have been manipulated (and I have the emails to prove it) without my permission or even requests, any help would be appreciated.
I am very frustrated, and I have read a lot about dealing with retentions (including not threatening to leave Sprint,) but if there is something others have been able to negotiate relatively painlessly, something fair for me and for the company, I'm all ears.
Thanks in advance!

From what I can tell you are on an old Family Fair and Flex plan with $5/100 buckets. This is a good plan except you actually need more minutes than the buckets cost you. The buckets work well for people who don't consistently call so close to the next family plan amount. The newer plans include the earlier nights and weekends and roaming. Call retentions directly - ask them for some help in getting your family plan costs down - before you call, look at all past bills and figure out what your average minutes used are so you can get a plan that will provide enough minutes without going into overages. List out exactly how many lines need vision, how many lines need texting - unlimited or flat number. Tell them that you have been with Sprint xx years and you really need their help to try to get the cost under control. I spoke with them very recently and asked them about some information about the $95/ unlimited voice only family plan. I was curious about the details of the plan, who was eligible for the plan, and if that plan was available to me if would reduce my Sprint bill overall. They were extremely helpful in giving me information and working the numbers with me even though I told them I was just trying to see if this was an option to reduce my bill. Good Luck.

We have Power Vision Plus and never get charged to watch tv. It's included - I have a different phone, not a smartphone.

As was said,.. you do need a plan that includes more minutes. Current plans also include PCS to PCS and roaming, so you'll not have to pay for roaming and you'll use less anytime minutes.
We had a plan w/ 2000 min and we kept going over till I realized they'd dropped my PCS2PCS. With our new plan, we use 3000+ minutes, but rarely go over 400 anytime minutes.

I just recently found this forum, and read through as much of this thread as I could, maybe the last 15 pages. There seems to be the sentiment that retentions is tightening up. I generally have to agree with that. I already have a retention plan, been with Sprint for 7 years, altering my retention plan 2 times in that span.
Current plan (from 2005):
750 anytime minutes 8pm - $40
300 bonus minutes - $0 (from 2003 retention plan)
3000 N/W
AAP - $20
500 PCS to PCS
5% loyalty discount
15% corporate discount
New Plan:
Same minutes - $40
$0 AAP
500 PCS to PCS (no one has Sprint anymore, so this is plenty)
3000 N/W (we don't even crack 1500 on this)
500 text per line $0
U/L PV for both lines $0
5% loyalty
15% corporate

While I certainly have seen better here, I am very happy with my plan. $40 after taxes for something that would probably cost $130 outside. I didn't want to push it and ask for phone discounts, I'm happy with the $99 Moto Q9C x 2. What I wanted to tell the new users who have never dealt with retentions or those still scared (I still was), is just keep trying. The guy who helped me on this one was my 5th rep (so that's right at the Mendoza line on the batting average, .200) over the past 2 months that I was trying to get free PV from. I actually had a huge argument with a rep on Sunday night when she was telling me the REGULAR Sprint plans and prices (I confirmed she was in account services). I told her I know how retention works, look at my plan, I've done this before. She for the most part called me a liar, I pretty much called her untrustworthy and withholding/stingy (I'm not a hothead, I actually am well spoken, but her stinginess and disinterested tone pushed me hard). I asked for a supervisor, she said she wouldn't put him on because she was trained to handle disputes such as this. I told her thanks, hung up and started screaming in my room at the top of my lungs. I was ready to quit today when Michael started helping me out. Looking back now, over the 3 times I've dealt successfully with retentions, you can usually tell within the first 2 minutes if you're going to get anywhere with a rep. If they start telling you the regular prices for additional services (i.e. $5/line for 7pm N/W, $15 PV/line, etc), and say no the first time when you ask for it for free or at a discount, you won't win. Just say thanks, you'll think about it, call back later. It did take me more tries then I remember it taking me in the past. I think I got my first retention deal on the first try 5 years ago, my second one maybe in 2-3 tries, and this one in 5 tries. So they are saying no more often, but it's still possible to get a good deal.

Well, my saga continued...possibly resolved for now.
After receiving an email today by a CSR stating he was canceling my Power Vision Plus totally (unsolicited, of course,) and that I would be charged per kb, I called *2 and said "cancel." A nice rep from retentions answered.
I explained how my plan had been changed multiple times over the past week, how my Power Vision Plus plan changed about 5 months ago to NOT include TV, and that I was being charged an additional $10/month for TV that I don't watch anyway, etc.
She apologized, credited my account for many months back, and while she didn't offer any more minutes over my Fair and Flex plan 400 for $39.99, she did remove my $5/month cost for mobile-mobile and agreed to add the premium Power Vision plan for $20, the first month being free. So while I didn't really get any very special deals (though I'm sure if I had demanded/requested more minutes or free texting, etc., I could have gotten it,) she did leave on the $60 or so credits promised earlier and noted not to charge me for my first month of the new premium Power Vision plan. I was kinda hoping to get "phone as modem" added, but at least now I get more features (though they are features I was supposed to be getting anyway) for the same amount of money I agreed to pay months ago.
But it was by far my best interaction with anyone from Sprint in all the years I've dealt with them.
Now I just have to deal with a new stuck "p" key. Per the site, Sprint honors 1 year warranties on phones for manufacturers defects if you bring it to a Sprint store and have them verify that it's broken. I can't send emails without series of "p"s popping up, and I can't even turn the phone on or off without hitting "p" first. Very annoying for a phone with a keyboard.
Anyone think I should have asked for more? Right now it's:
$39.99 400 fair and flex,
Unlimited nights/weekends 7pm,
All the usual 3-way calling, etc.,
Unlimited data, On-demand, unlimited TV access for $20 more.
~$60 or so credit for other bad charges.
Considering all I've been through, I was hoping for a slightly better deal, but I don't want to come across as greedy, and the CSR actually was very nice. Not condescending or anything, nor did she curse me out, as one did to my girlfriend about two years ago when she was stuck without service after Katrina. A CSR actually told her to "go f$#$ yourself" when she was trying to pay her bill from a non-sprint phone (sprint was out for a while after Katrina in certain areas.) She left Sprint and never came back.
But if anyone has any ideas of anything else I should request should this (to me, relatively useless except for the data access plan - as I don't use TV much) plan not be that great, be they minutes or other perks people have been successful with, please let me know. The CSR from retentions put a note on my account linking all future service to her, and we were on very good terms at the end of the call.
Also, has anyone had any no-hassle experiences with exchanging a phone with a stuck key?
Thanks all,
H

Here is my new package i got from retentations or account services as they are calling them selves now.
Unlimited Minutes for $95!
Unlimted Data for $15

Insurance for $7 for my Data Card
15% off for my company discount
$10 off for my trouble of accualy getting sprint to offer me the unlimed $119 package with data that is not in my area yet.
After speeking with a manager for the millionth time recently i was informed that they were offering this package since Oct 2007 and just recently told sprint reps in a email about it. Also sprint is offering thru retentations a my favs or my circle for up to 5 people for $5 per month. interesting how sprint does not advertise this they call it my competitors!

I'm not sure if anyone saw the posts on Slickdeals.net, I just got an unlimited $95 for my family share plan of 3 lines which includes unlimited text, powervision and roaming on 2 of the lines... the third line is barely used at all. I called and talked to someone in Retentions to get this deal. Many people have gotten this and posted all the info on Slickdeals. Sorry if i'm re-iterating this deal if ya'll already know about it. I was paying over $200/month for my lines + any overages in minutes which I always seem to have. I never have to worry about minutes again with this deal. I must admit, I spent ALOT of time on the phone trying to get this deal, but it was defnitely worth it. I am from Michigan, so this is not that $119 unlimited deal that is being offered in certain areas... This is completely new and different.

Called Monday morning and was offered the $95 unlimited family plan, voice, no data. I went home thought about it and decided to go with it. Called Monday night, no such plan being offered, and no attempt to try to retain me as a Sprint customer. The lady that I spoke with claimed to be a manager in the retention department. Called back Tues morning, got a nicer gentleman in retentions, could do nothing, offered me plans that were inferior to the one that I had. He also offered me a 15% discount, no go since I want to be a free agent and do not want to lock in for two years to a plan that was not unlimited once I got a taste of the possibility of having the unlimited family plan.
I have been with Sprint for 10 years out of contract so I am a free agent. I will be doing my homework this weekend, going to the different carriers and checking out their plans and phone offerings. I am in no rush to leave, after all Sprint really hasn't shown their hand yet public ally in the unlimited category.
I am just a little pissed that I couldn't get a plan Monday night that I was offered Monday morning.

I say keep trying. They might tell you that it's $130 for the first two lines and $20 for the third add a line... That means you are on the old system, that is why the codes don't work. I had them do the $130 plan and then I called back again and talked to someone again in Retentions and she knew all about the $95 plan. She said that the lady prior "FORGOT" to add the credits to my account to make this deal at $95 for all 3 lines AND unlimited text, PowerVision and Roaming on 2 lines. I just say keep trying to get someone in Retentions. I called and acted as if someone offered it to me and I got disconnected... It took me 3-4 hours, and it finally worked. I'm not sure if any other phone company will get as cheap as this deal is with sprint. 3 phones with unlimited everything for $95 + tax and insurance.

Why do you all on here talk like you are so slick. Like we retention reps don't know what's going on with these forums, or some who clearly get off on believing that they are scamming the system. the truth is when you actually "win" on an account, it's because we let you or benefit someway from it. Ya see people, we are just doing a job. that's it . We don't really care one bit for your problem, and the most loathed point in every conversation about how you always want us to understand how/why you feel about a situation. I don't care one bit how you feel, tell me what you want with less backstory and I've been on the phone for x amount of hours speech. And speaking of that, there are two scenarios why you have been on the phone with x amount of reps and x amount of time: 1. You refuse to accept responsibility for a charge/ overage you made. No just because you start with " why would I call and get credit if I did it". Well, lets see, because you dont want to have to pay for anything more than your 50 dollars a month you signed up for, even though you are using 100 dollars worth of services. 2. Because you wan't everything for free because some " guy of the street" can get a better deal. Guess what, you were that guy/gal of the street, and just because you have managed to pay just enough combined with the incessant credits you are consistantly demanding each month as compensation for the afformentioned amount of time/people spent talking to on the phone, for 6 months does not mean we owe you free text and vision and a free mogul. Also, please understand, we get crappy hourly pay, and if you had been with the company long enough to make decent commision, the chances of that happening anymore are slim to none. the whole system is different now. most of the veterans who were around 2 yrs plus are gone . And without commision, their will be people who only make hourly, which leaves no drive to go out of your way to take care of the customer, which is exactly the design of this department originally. Here is another tip. Our commision works like this. if someone has been "saved" i.e. called to cancel for one reason or another in the last 180 days, then you can't mark the save. The save is what controls commision payout. I think you can see where this is going. If you call in after getting free phones/ vision/ text/ percentage of the bill, basically the buffet you commonly see on peoples accounts, and i see this, then i have no motivation to do anything but get you off the phone. You go form an asset to a liability in an instant. I only have to do a few things on each call to pass "quality monitoring"
1. brand sprint in the beginning.
2. give out my id
3. show appreciation " often repeated " well we definately appreciate your business mr./mrs. blah blah"
3. ask if there is anything else
4. brand sprint at end
So I can be as brief as I need to otherwise. Basically I am trying to tell you is the Golden erra of retention is over. And you all on places like these killed it. Get used to the whole" while we definately appreciate your business, there may be no further credits/discounts on your account" Oh yea, and the email was sent out about the magic 95.00 plan. It's no longer to be used so you've got like 2 more days for the vendor sites to stop using it also.

i called and switched to to the new $99.99 unlimited everything plan. However i was livid and very very angry at sprint for not giving me my 15% discount for my employer that i work for and my $10 off each month! They say it is discounted so much already that they wont do it! i will call sprint each day until i get my discount! we demand discounts simple as that or i might go to verizion when they allow us this year to bring any cell phone we want that is CDMA! I use a Sprint Mogul!

The unlimited everything plan SPECIFICALLY states that you can NOT have NVP or MR Credit to the account. If you take your business to VZW, you'll end up paying even more.

The one thing I learned from this is that I do not need to be out of contract to try to get an enhancement to my plan, I thought that in order for you to make a save you would need to get a new contract agreement. so you will be hearing from me a little bit more often.
Now maybe I can help you:
The biggest problem that I get with service reps is that they are mostly borderline retarded. I call several times just to get someone who knows what they are doing. Many times I have called back 7-8 times just trying to see what the best offer I can get is & I get one rep offering me something that the next rep says is not available.
My guess is this: if you spent an extra 10 minutes a week reading the updates you get to the customer service codes you could get all of us off the phones much quicker by being the person to offer the best package, and if actually describe it and enter into the computer correctly you can even prevent several call backs trying to correct your mistakes. You get more commissions and we get better plan, everybody wins.:tu:

unfortunately you could call until you are blue in the face, but for right now there is no way for any discounts to be added to that plan. the days of stacking discounts on top of great plans or over, and as far as going to vzw, go and pay 40.00 more a month and still not get your 10% off that makes sense. you had thechoice at the time of signup once that was told to you(see customer service is getting better normally he would not have known this until he got his bill)you could have stuck with your current plan. no rep at sprint can change this sorry maybe in the future these discounts can be added but not right now.

It's no longer to be used so you've got like 2 more days for the vendor sites to stop using it also.
yes , the above was grammatically a failure, but I am exhausted from and for you. My further post will be better structured and coherent...maybe

I can see why Sprint's CS is rated so poorly.

Wow I didnt know this forum was so great (ive used it for the focus uploader, but this is my first time actually checking out the forum). Im glad I did. Ive been with sprint since 2002 and ive always wondered if there were any type of discounts i could possibly get. I just figured that cell phone companies didnt have those type of loyalty discounts so i just kept paying my bill and kept it moving. But seeing all these sweet deals (there are some people paying almost the same amount as im paying but have two phones instead of one and similar phone plans. thanks to this forum for posting this great thread. i will defintely try some negotionating come my next renewal. i think im in that high risk/high reward category also because when i changed my plan yesterday the csr said they would try to keep my business the next renewal with a credit towards my bill.

I eventually got what I wanted. It took three phone calls, one message left for a supervisor (not returned), two rude retentions reps (one called me a liar, one would not stop interrupting with "Sir, like I said before..."), and an email to e-care detailing all of the above to get it, though.
The offer I accepted is:
1000 min for $40, roaming, mobile to mobile included
6 PM nights for free
Unlimited text for free
Unlimited data for free
200 additional anytime minutes for free
27% NVP discount applied for a monthly bill of $29.20 before taxes.
It was a pain in the ass, yes, but I did it! :headbang2
Also, fwiw, I was never rude or condescending to any reps. I was always polite and professional. My main negotiating point was T-mobile's offer of 1000 min for $40 including Fav 5 for free. I've also been a customer for 8 years and have never paid a bill late. Unfortunately, I was not treated well by the reps. Just make sure to take good notes about who you talked to (including employee ID), time you talked to them, EXACTLY what they offered, etc. Makes any follow-up discussions, email, etc. weigh HEAVILY in your favor.
I'm sure I could have stuck with it and gotten more, but that just would've been greedy. They gave me a good enough deal to persuade me to sign for two more years and I'm happy with that!

... 2. Because you wan't everything for free because some " guy of the street" can get a better deal. ...
Well, i know why i was on the phone with Sprint for an hour today and it wasn't to get freebies or to have an 'overage' credited. It was because when I was migrated, my primary line and one of my add a lines were switched. I called last week and was told it was fixed, today I found out it wasn't.
I talked to AS, CS, Corp and I don't know who all else before everyone threw up their hands and declared there was no way to fix that short of redoing my whole plan. Which I didn't want touched.
So i don't know how that will affect my future Sprint contracts or offers - they have the wrong darn phone as primary!

I can understand how a rep doesn't know how to fix a certain issue. There are 2 billing systems with 3 billing programs. That makes it dificult especially since steps a,b,c might work in one system and not the other. Give the reps some slack. It really is a lot of stuff to remember and there is no way to remember it all. Then you have to consider retentions who have even more to remember. So please, cut us a break.

Maybe if Sprint was smart they would have 1 billing system with 1 billing program and they would be able to use the Nextel towers. But apparently, they aren't that smart. I'm sure I could do it if I was CEO.

Their working on it. Why do you think that everyone is getting migrated over to the new system. SO that there will be only one system. Things will be a lot smoother after that happens. Not so much stuff to keep up with. So apparently they are that smart. You just can't expect 54mil customers to get switched over night.

I have a sero F&F 500 plan, pick 3 for free (which i recently got via retentions), and unlimited text.
I wanted to add a new line with the same plan. So I called telesales, and they added a new line for me and with it gave me a samsung upstage phone for $1.98, after rebate. They also offered me an air card which would be free after 50$ rebates.
I am new to air cards, what i understood from the representative was that I can combine the card with SERO plan which I recently got on the new line for no extra cost.
I believe I have unlimited data plan, so would it cost me any extra money to use air card also would I have any problems combining the air card with the SERO account.
I am just a little suspicious, i will get the package a few days later.

air card plans and sero plans are not the same. You will have to get a data plan in order to use the data card.

SERO plan for an air card is $49.99/month.

Prefacatory note: I called Sprint with about 11 months under contract remaining on both lines. What follows is proof that you do not need to be out of contract to request and receive a decent retention deal from Sprint.
In late-January, I called sprint to complain about the new admin fees and request a zero-term contract. After being transferred 4 times (I kid you not) I finally reached a gentleman who is undoubtably the best retention CSR that I have encountered in my 9 years with Sprint. I started by telling him that I was a fairly satisfied long-term customer but that my bill was too high and that I didn't really need 2000 min (but was not going to switch to the F&F $89/1500 plan just to save $10). I told him I was thinking about switching to T-Mo because they offered better WiFi coverage but would stay with Sprint if he could save me some money. He suggested the standard $50/1000 or $60/1200 plans. I told him I thought that would work but asked if he could throw in free 6pm N/W because there were a couple of months that we use >1000 min. He told me he couldn't find a code for free 6pm but would do me one better and give me free 5pm! Needless to say I was ecstatic as this was the first time I had heard of free 5pm (though I know it has been popping up more frequently since the beginning of the year) and we use the phones quite a bit between 5-7pm. Another plus - no expiring "credits"
Old Plan:
$100/2000min
$5 - 7pm n/w (minus $5 credit)
$5 - Roaming (minus $5 credit)
$7.50 - unlimited text (minus $8 credit)
Free vision
Free AAP (2nd line)
$15 powervision on 2nd line
Free text on 2nd line
15% corp discount
Total @ $100/mo after taxes & discounts
New Plan:
$60/1200min
Free 2nd line
Free 5pm N/W :tu:
Free unlimited txt (both lines)
Free roaming
$10 powervision on 2nd line
15% corp discount
Total @ $60/mo after taxes & discounts
Suffice it to say I am sorry I didn't request the $60 plan a year ago, but I was always worried that I would never be able to get another 2000min plan with all the freebies at the same price if our needs changed. Of course, those fears are gone with the new $99 unlimited plans - but in the meantime I'm saving $500 a year on the new plan. :) Oh, and no new contract term.
Good luck everyone with your negotiations - I could not have done it without all of the info posted at SU. Knowledge is power.

I got an employee discount added to my SERO plan the first time I asked.. Now, I pay only $24.60 before taxes. I don't want to push this by asking for any other perks. I don't want my discount removed.

Question: Is it true or not true that with the new billing system loyalty discounts cannot be combined with corporate discounts? The reason I ask is I signed up for an employee discount with my place of employment and my loyalty discount was removed. It's not a big deal since the employee discount is larger but I was curious if anyone still had both discounts with Ensemble. It's not like it will offset it much with all the new crazy fees that Sprint has tagged on us this year.

just got off the phone with retentions, as i have a little over a month left on my current contract. long time sprint customer here to the tune of 8 years. i am wanting to get the mogul and the moto q 9c. i asked if they could apply the mail-in rebates, instead of having me go through that process and they said no. is that too much to ask for? because that was all that i was asking for. i read other people's great deals and perks and i think i deserve something. i hate mail in rebates. the lady confirmed that what i just read in a different thread about getting what you want depends on how much you spend with them. she said i have spent a little over $1000 in the past year and that she got done talking to another guy who spends $5000 per year and she was able to do more for him.
i am wondering if it would make any difference to make that same call on the day of my contract expiration. customer loyalty doesn't mean crap, i guess. if they want to keep customers, shouldn't they try to keep them happy (to a degree) instead of pushing them away?

i had both.. i actually had 3 discounts. 5% loyalty i've had for years and years, NVP and a 10% for i dont even remember what now.. last month ALL discounts were taken away. my NVP was put back on, the rep didn't make it sound like she could give me my loyalty discount again. i've been having some issues with my bill after migrating though. seemed smooth and easy corrections, but i don't know what's been going on. they have just been crediting my bill each month now. but i don't like having to call in. the most recent retentions rep i spoke with i believe got everything set up correctly. i'll see what happens next billing cycle, not for 3 weeks though.
