i just called retentions and talked to some really helpful guy named Brian, although i dont think he will give me what i want, he may give me what i want for now, but make a long story short, the salesman i bought my 8400 today did not tell me that i had to upgrade my vision to PV, so i called and i got unlimited text for $8 compared to 15$, and PV for free from retentions, also he is calling back tmr to sell me some phones

Questions

1)Should i take an offer for 99$ for a a900?

2)He credited my account 75$ for my 8400 i bought today since i was told i would get a rebate from customer service but didnt get one... but since im still eligible to return the phone, could he retrack that 8400 and give me a even more discounted 8400 than what i will be paying of about 225$?

3)should i ask for loyalty discounts and credit union discount and whatever else, cause we are paying 150$ a month right now...?

For your first question, I took an offer of $99 for the a900m. It is a $350 phone, $99 isn't so bad. My wife didn't like the phone so it's going back. She likes the Sanyo 3100 better, go figure.

I've been with Sprint for 2 years now. I just got the FUSIC less than a month ago. Here's my plan:

$45:
- 1000 AT mins.
- N&W Start at 8pm
- Power Vision Plus Pack (unlimited: net surfing, pic & video mail, texts, and TV channels)
- Unlimited Roaming
- $150 off of my new Fusic
- Only 1yr contract (expires in June even though I bought my new phone in September)

Although, I'm not 100% satisfied with the selection of phones Sprint has to offer, the deal I'm getting is pretty damn good considering the circumstances.

Hi

Been reading the last several pages, but dont see what I am looking for. What is the best 2 phone retention plan being offered these days? I'm out of contract, with a 5 year old phone and plan. Need to upgrade.

Called *2 and best I could get was

$50
450 minutes shared
2 lines
nights and weekends at 9pm (said this plan was not eligible for 7pm)
free m2m

I do have a 23% corp discount, but still, this didnt seem like a very good plan.

Comments?

Thanks!

Check the plan in my sig. It took some time to build but I should think the same base 1200 AT minutes for $60 w/free AAP would be available if your credit and payment history are good. I believe there is also a $50 1000 AT minute plan for two lines available. Both plans should have the 7 PM option addon for free (again if your credit and payment history are good).
Keep calling CS and be polite. With any luck you'll soon find someone who's willing to help you out with a better plan.

first post... thanks everyone here for giving me the knowledge to leverage my long-term status with sprint (user since 99). I called yesterday and told them that I was offered a free razr plus a competitive plan but wanted to give them a shot. here is what I got.

keep in mind that I've been using a samsung A600 for about 3 years, am out of contract and pay my bills on time... maybe one late payment in 7 years.

they gave me the a900M for FREE - no rebates, nothing... should be here monday.
$39.99 fair & flex for 450 anytime (I won't use that many)
free m2m, 6pm nights & weekends
500 free SMS
$20 power vision plan minus a $10 recurring credit
Plus a 15% loyalty credit

All in all I will get a new phone free, much improved service and a lot more minutes and stuff... all for about $20 less than I was paying. I'm sure there are better deals that have been had, but I'm happy with this for my first shot at retention!

I am in the market for a new phone and maybe a plan as well. My main motivation to possibly switch is pretty simple. My minutes used are increasing as more of my friends are leaving the Sprint network--therefore using more of my anytime and N/W, bringing my monthly bill over $50 (just can't afford much more than that, and this is my only phone, no land line at home).

Current Plan Details

PCS Free & Clear Plan

$40.00 PCS Free & Clear Plan
All Minutes Include Long Distance
1000 Anytime Minutes
Unlimited Night & Weekend Minutes
Nights: M-Th 8PM-7AM Wknd: F 8PM-M 7AM
Caller ID, Call Waiting
Three-way Calling
Voicemail

I added unlimited text for an additional $10 per month.

While I am on the fence about staying or leaving, I too, have been a customer for a long time, with maybe 1 or 2 late payments during my 6 year relationship w/ Sprint. I wouldn't mind opening up the NW to start at 7p--as that would help out quite a bit, and maybe throw in the unlimited text for free.

My main concern was the phone not my plan and I got the 8400 for 97 bucks and my 150 wasn't up till May so I was happy. I got offered unlimited text and power vision for 13 bucks and I took it. I was paying 10 and had just cancelled picture mail cause of not using it and it was 5 bucks.. So I thought I did good then I satrted reading here and thought I could of done better but I was like I got wwhat I wanted I was happy love my phone it was a good price. Plus I am selling my 8300 for 50 bucks so I came out pretty good.. Of course then I had to buy a 80 dollar headset LOL!!

i dont know if this is great or not but called retentions got the treo 700wx for $300 with the fair and flexible for 39.99 with free 500 text messages 250 added minutes to the already 350 minutes on the plan free nights at 6 power vision for $10 should i ask for more and if so how

That sounds pretty good to me.. I don't know the regular price for the Treo. My Powervision was offered for 5 bucks but unlimited text was 8 13 bucks I was paying 10 before. But I didn't think they would give me the free 500 with 5 dollar powervision and I was ok with what I got so I took it.. I had to resign but I didn't care I told him I would since he gave me my phone 8 months before my rebate was atcual;ly due plus he knocked off an additional 30 bucks but my bill shows a 50 dollar credit.. But nowmy next bill is due and I owe for my phone 97 bucks plus my bill.. Rose

I just got off the phone with account services. I think they gave me a pretty good deal for a retention plan. They gave me two LG LX550 Fusic phones for free. Well, they actually paid me $20 to get the phones. So I guess -20.

2 lines, joint account but not sharing minutes

1st line

$40
1000 minutes
7pm nights/weekends
FIMF First incoming minute free
500 text messages free
M2M free
Free Fusic phone + $20 credit
another 2 year agreement

2nd line

$30
300 min
7pm nights/ weekend
FIMF
500 text messages free
M2M free
Fusic phone free
2 year agreement renewed

Total:
1300 min total, unshared for $70.
Oh, +15% employee discount
+7% unknown discount.

I guess some may be wondering why the two Fusics were free plus $20 credit. I negotiated both lines separately. For the first line I asked for a Kitana and after some talking the lady decided to go beyond the usual $150 off and gave me $300 off, making the Kitana free. She also offered the Fusic for $50. Originally I went with the Kitana since the line wasn't for me and the user prefered a pink phone. Later I learned the fusic had a pink face plates. So after a while I called in again and asked to get the fusic. They mailed me a return box for the Kitana already sent out and mailed me a Fusic. They saw that the previous person applied $300 credit to the kitana so transfered the credit to the $330 fusic, making it $30 billed to my account. Next I was told that anyone renewing a 2 year agreement could get $50 credit by hanging up and calling *2 and asking for the credit. I did that, which made the $30 Fusic into -$20. Technically I could back and ask for the same think for the 2nd line but that might be too greedy. They gave me a $50 fusic - $50 credit anyways.

SmoothieKing534
10-27-2006, 12:30 PM
how did you manage the free Fusic. I have been trying for a the last month to receive one for free. I was even told back in April, that I could receive 150.00 off a 300.00 phone. However, that is no longer in my notes--I think the women laid to me!

Petecustom
10-27-2006, 04:18 PM
As usual, keep trying. I was out of contract, so it was easier to get them to agree to things. There was only one lady that offered the Fusic to me for $50. I asked for her employee ID number and whenever I need anything I have retentions email this lady and she calls me right back. ^__^
She sounds kinda like Cleo the fortune teller. Haha.
Just keep calling and asking for quotes for the Fusic. Most of the people told me they could only do -150 off + 30$ off. I guess I was lucky to get a lady that was willing to give me $300 off. I think it may not have been $300 off since I still had to pay $50. I went for the Kitana first with $300 off and then called to return the kitana for the Fusic. I asked for the same deal the lady gave me in the notes. The new guy just credited me $300, which made the Fusic technically $30. Then I called in for the $50 credit. Sigh, so complicated.

When I got my phones, the reps were all pushing the a900. I was in negotiations for a week when my contract expired.

Eventually I got a rep who I was chatting with about the offers. I asked her opinion on the a900. She thought the 920 was a better phone and switched the phones I was offered with the a920.

I love it.

I just got off the phone with retentions. My current plan is $35 fair and flex with $5/100 add. minutes, GF vision plan with unlimited text, pic mail and 5$/mnth download credit, Free m2m. I was trying to get onto a sero plan but to no avail. Instead i was offered
15% discount
1 year free Vision
Free nights at 7.
Brings my total bill down from $50 to just under $30. Fairly comparable to a SERO plan. I just worry about if/when i change from Vision to Power Vision as she said no PV discounts were currently available.

sprtjnkie
11-10-2006, 05:16 PM
Oh, that's not true. I'm sure PV is avaliable she just didn't want to give you the farm. If you are in the market for a new phone, call them and tell them what you are looking for and that with that nice new phone, it sure would be nice to be able to take advantage of all the features it offers. That's how I got my PV added to my account. If not a new phone angle, it can be done. Just might have to be a little more persistent.

Hey Guys...

First off, let me say there's awesome info in this forum...I've been with sprint for about 6 yrs and I just made my second call to sprint retentions and was offered a plan that I think is worth for me to get but I wanted to get your input. Here's what they offered:

2100 min Family plan with 4 phones
-nights & weekends at 7pm
-mobile to mobile
-power vision
-roaming
For about $88 a month after a bunch of discounts. There's also a $50 credit on the first month's bill.

The phones I am looking at are: one black KRZR, one red RAZR, one black RAZR, and one pink KATANA...for a total of $230.00

Should i jump or call back for something better?

Thanks guys,

I say jump on it and email eCare to confirm that your new or "pending" plan has exactly what you were led to believe. This is not to say that a retention rep would lie to you, but perhaps stretch the truth somewhat on the powervision, etc.

$88/month after discounts for 4 lines is a killer deal without any other services like vision / powervision. The roaming and 7pm nights are a standard plan offering, but that plan has a base cost of over $100 so $88 after discounts is a sweet deal. Great pricing on the handsets also.

Now, hopefully when you call back the plan as outlined will be available. Also, always get the rep's log in ID which is either 3 letters and 4 numbers or 5 letters and 2 numbers. Anyone giving you a bunch of numbers is giving you their desk / extention and not their true sprint rep log in.

Ex: JSmit03 Would be someone named Joe or Jessica, etc with a last name starting in Smit.......... such as smith. JMS7245 Would again be someone with a 1st name beginning with a J, as its usually their initials with 4 numbers after it.

Email verify the plan by emailing eCare from the "contact us" link on sprint.com after your logged into your account. The rep may hold the plan change till the last day of your current cycle, or push it as an immediate change depending on what is best for you.

My guess would be it'll backfire, for now. Might try eCare - they seem to have a better success rate.

So my story:
My contract was up for renewal & I had called retention on the previous Friday & was given a vanilla offer that was basically what was online @ SPCS.com by the rep who picked up.

I waited a day & didn't really follow Dan's tip to a tee because I jumped the gun & called in Sunday AM be4 the playoff games.

Got a really nice woman & we were about to embark on how she could help me when I got disconnected. Tried calling 3 times afterwards & finally gave up on waits of upto 25 minutes.

Then while driving on icy, snowy NoVa roads this evening (not advisable) on the way to watch the 6:30 est game @ a friend's house, I tried calling retention again.

A beautiful young lady picked up the phone & told me that the phones had been knocked out @ that call center earlier in the day & without being prompted proceeded to offer me 10% monthly loyalty discount for my 7 years as an opener & in the course of the conversation:
2 RAZR for the price of 1
1 Q for $99
Overnight shipping on the phones.
PV Credit of $10 per month
$50 renewal credit
No activation fees on all of the new phones.
& a tip to call in be4 each billing cycle to activate the 100/$10 overage if I feel I need overage minutes.

So to say the least, I was happy beyond my expectations as I was really looking to just get my contract renewed & squeeze the 10% loyalty & get the Q for less than $199 online.

So I want to thank Dan & other SU members (too many to mention) for helping out with info & support.

Sprint is truly a good company customer service wise in their own unique way. Loyalty is a 2 way street & this gets me to be a believer every 2 years .

from the $30/mo free and clear plan i had (300 AT, 9PM nights) + 25% off employee discount, this is what I was offered.

jan 12 call:
my current plan but adding Power Vision for free
free fusic
free activation
25% employee discount still intact

jan 16 call:
$79.99 fusic - $50 credit (current promo or loyalty discount? not sure)

and then..

$40/mo (seems like Free & Clear Plan)
1000 AT
8pm nights
Power Vision included
25% employee discount still intact

or

$30/mo (SERO 500 Plan)
500 AT
7pm nights
Power Vision included
roaming
25% employee discount still intact

I picked the SERO 500 Plan as that was what I originally wanted the whole time. Although I forgot to ask if it includes free activation. I had to close the deal quick since I was on my one hour lunch break and the call actually took a lil longer than expected. I'm hoping I can get an added % loyalty discount later on and free unlimited texting (although that seems impossible now days from what i read here, so 500 free text i would be fine with).

-3 Months left in current Contract
-500min FF Plan
-Member since 2001

Called Sprint up, told them verizon offered me the Treo 700wx for 249, the first guy offered it to me for 299 + 36 upgrade fee. (I used to work for a sprint authorized retailer i know the upgrade fee atleast can always be waved) so i told him to notate that on my account and i would call back after I thought it over. He said he would call back in 30mins, that was perfect, this gave me enough time to call right back and get someone else to see if i can get it for 250, if it didnt work i still got it for 336 which still isnt bad.

Called right back after i hung up with him, same story and this time the lady i talked to said she could give it to me for 250 shipped with a 2yr extension. :)

The first guy called back i guess he had my accout open cause he soudned pretty sad like he just got played, lol (he played me) he said "Well...uhm.. i see you got your phone" sucks for him but I saved $400 bucks :)

I got the 8400 a few months ago and I got charged an 18 dollar fee. I have never before been charged a fee as long as I have been with Sprint and was told once because I am on a business account and get a work discount. I called and got it removed from my account a few months ago.

Recently I got my friend a Katana and now she is being charged the 18 bucks. I was told they can only remove it from your account one time. That I should of know there is a charge when I called last time and they removed it from my line. The lady goes it's normally 36 bucks so I guess it's 18 for people on a business account so your still getting a good deal. But they wouldn't remove it off my friends line on my account..

I think alot of peolple would pay an $18 upgrade fee like me over the price of a full phone.

I mean youre paying $18 to get something that is almost free so I am not going to complain =]

Oh yeah, I got the Moto Q ordered and shipped next day air saver to my house for free

I shall be getting it shipped to my house before 4 PM today =]

Hey everyone;

I currently have 3 phones on my account, and through retentions in August, I had gotten a Fusic for $50 shipped to me.

Well, now my father needs a phone. Preferably PPC-6700, or an M1.

He hasn't gotten in a new phone in, oh 4 years now. Heck, his phone doesn't have E911 or even a color screen!

How much were you guys able to get the PPC-6700 or M1 for?
Thanks!

You can upgrade your dads phone if you want ..

Back in late June I got a really good deal on my PPC 6700 ..

I dont want to state a price but just call in and them them that Cingular, Tmobile and Verizon Wireless all have new PDA/MDA cell phones and tell them that your dad is loyal to Sprint and loves the service and would like to upgrade his phone and stay with Sprint =]

I may be wrong but I read on the forums that if you order a phone Mon-Thurs before 12 Noon they ship it next day ..

I got mine ordered on a Friday Evening and the rep told me 3-5 business days

It didnt process until Monday morning..

So I got a tracking number and checked on UPS and maybe someone upgraded me to Next Day Air Saver?

Im so happy now ,

You can try the Q and if he doesnt like it exchanged it for a 6700 ..

I think that both phones are great ..

Same with the M1 and 610 I like both so try them both out maybe ?

And Razr vs Krzr? No comment eheh .. I think those phones are slow =P

So maybe you can do this ..

Start with the Q then 6700 then M1 then M610 then Krzr then Razr?

You have lots of choices =]

Can someone please enlighten me. I have tried multiple times to get on the SERO plan but to no avail. So I thought I would try the retentions route.
Right now I have the Sprint F&F Plan and pay $39.99 + $10 for picture mail + $5 7pm nights and weekends. My contract is up in 3 months.

I called retentions and this is what they offered me.
2 Lines
550 minutes shared plan
500 text messages on both phones
Broadband Internet on one phone (she said it was the $20 package)
$59.50 plus tax

And she said she would get me two phones and price match to the web.

Is this a good deal? If not - what do you think would be?

How I got a FREE Sanyo M1. This will be the best retention story you have ever read. First I'm going to tell you what happened, then I'll tell you why it happened. The KEY is that you have give something of VALUE to the rep if they are going to give value to you. You are going to give them a story to tell that has value.

I called in on a Thursday and talked to retention about cancelling my plan, and the rep offered me the Sanyo M1 for $179, and was not willing to go any lower -- I was trying to get it for $100. At this point he was willing to let me cancel my account, so I told him to leave it and I would have another carrier port my number (this lets you save face when you want to keep your account when you are rejected for a retention offer). Two days later my roomate who works for sprint (don't worry you can still repeat this story for yourself) came home and called in as a sprint rep during retail hours, so corporate didn't know we weren't in a store. You can repeat this by actually being in a store. My roomate told the corporate rep that I came into the store to cancel, and the phone was handed to me so I am now on the phone with the rep. He asked me what he could do to save my business, and I told him I wanted the M1. He asked me if he got me the M1 would I keep my account, and I told him that would make me happy. He then offered me the M1 and I received it three days later, FREE.

Why this happened:

The first rep didn't like me because I was battling him on loyalty, and wanting something cheap, which he deals with all day. The key point in this approach is that there is no value to him to save the account, even though its his job. YOU have to offer value to the rep to do things for you.

KEY: I gave the second rep a STORY to tell. he can now spin around in his chair and say "Hey boss, this guy drove all the way to the sprint store to cancel his service, and he just walked out and still a customer! I did that!" to which the boss replies "great job", they high five, and both return to work smiling that they have both completed their jobs in the face of adversity. My first call offered no value to overcoming adversity. I sold the second rep a STORY to tell his peers and superiors. The story has VALUE. All of us calling from home with the tv blaring and just complaining do not offer the rep a valuable story. So go to your store, tell a in-person rep that you want to call in with rep and cancel your service, and you WILL offer the rep VAlUE. Having given value, you will now receive it. Aside from all the other retentin posts, all they talk about is the current state of the retention department, their account detail and history, etc. All are factors, but now, be creative and stop thinking of what you can get -- give a good story for a rep to tell his peers, and you will RECEIVE.

Being in a "sprint store" Vs. calling from home with the true intention to cancel shouldn't really metter. If you have a high value to sprint, you will get offered something good to stay. Retention reps are rated on how well they do at keeping sprints best customers from becoming customers of another carrier.

The story sounds good........ might even work for some people :)

Oh, welcome to sprintusers :wavey:

After my punk son-in-law showed up with his Razor/Krazor/whatever the heck it is, showing all the bells and whistles he has with it. I decided I'd do some homework and see what all this was about. (I'm coming from a Sanyo 4900, without Vision)

Trying to read reviews on the new phones, I found this forum. Thank You!

My old plan was a straight 2000 Any Time minutes plan, shared between two phones. No N&W, no M2m, notta. $79.99/mo. Use 1200 or so minutes a month. Been a customer since 1999, never been late, never called, never anything except bought a new phone at Radio Shack (the 4900) and THEY activated it for me. Never called before. Been out of contract since 2003.

Called retentions, asked them what they could do for me. The agent looked up my account, read that I'd never called, had old phones, etc. She told me I would be better off speaking to someone in customer accounts, and that she would transfer me over. I asked her why was she giving up on me so soon (not even a first offer), and she said to tell them she had recommended I switch to a SERO plan. (I was surprised, but hoping...)

The person who came on, after a couple of minutes on hold, answered and asked what could he do for me. I said that the rep that had transferred me had said to say I wanted to switch to a SERO account.
He looked at my account, and said "I can't do that."
I asked surprisingly, "Why?"
He said, "Because you have two phones. We'll have to switch you to TWO SERO plans." (at this point he was making fun of it... the old you can't have one, but you can have TWO hahaha chuckle chuckle)
I said, "OK... will I be able to keep my old numbers."
He said, "Certainly. No reason to give BellSouth any more money." (I don't understand this part)
15 minutes later, after talking about phones, I got a Fusic for me, for $9.99, an M500 for my wife (she likes the clock in the picture, go figure) for $FREE, and two SERO 500 plans... new total, after the 15% loyalty discount he put on both plans and such, should be ~ $60.00 for both phones, with unlimited Power Vision, N&W@7, M@M, the works...

I used to be on a shared 800 minute plan with 3 phones. I've been with Sprint for about 10 years now and tried to see what I could get. I ended up with:

700 minute shared plan - $69.99
100 extra minutes - FREE
Power Vision on 2 phones - $20 total
Regular Vision on 1 phone - $5
Add a 3rd line - FREE
500 text messages on each line - FREE
Nights & Weekends at 7 - FREE
Mobile to Mobile - FREE

I've had a 15% State of Texas Employee Discount
They added a 20% Loyalty Discount

Altogether it's $64.59 plus taxes for all 3 lines.

They've also been jacking me around on my most recent bill so they gave me an extra one time $100 credit.

Old Plan:

$40
1000 AT
8 pm N/W
PCS-PCS
Was given roaming for the past year because svc at my house had been spotty.

New Plan w/2 yr agreement:

$40
1000 AT
7 pm N/W
PCS-PCS
Free Roaming
500 txt msg a month (for life)

9 yr member, had been out of contract since 2004. Got the new deal with Retentions after first going through e-Care. E-Care offered free roaming OR unlimited text with a 1 yr agreement, and 7pm N/T for $2.50 per month with a 2 yr agreement. This is the first 2 yr contract I've ever signed with Sprint.

I am planning to upgrade from a Sanyo 4900 to probably a 8400, and wanted a PW plan, but the CSR wouldn't discuss a discount since I didn't have a PW phone yet, nor would he offer any added rebate on a phone other than the $150 I am entitled to already. Plus, I forgot to ask about a loyalty discount. Anyone know if I can still get a discounted or free PW option and a loyalty discount even though I've already agreed to a 2 yr renewal? I also just noticed online that the expiration date on my contract is 2008 instead of 2009, so what's up with that?

500 texts
21 or 23 (she couldn't figure it out)% corp
20% loyalty on $40
7pm nights free with credit (tax was applied on this)
I pay appx $47 after taxes

NEW plan:
$59.99 Power pack plan (set up correctly) (Contract end: Nov '08)
$0 2nd line (included like all new plans) (Contract end: May '08)
$10 3rd line (Contract end: Jan '09, just added)
20% loyalty on $60

2 phones on the SERO plans. (No, I don't know anyone at Sprint.) Plus when I registered my phones, they gave me an additional 50 minutes per line.
KRZRs for 99 a pop.

It was relatively simple. For the plan, I just called retentions and said "A friend told me to ask for the SERO plan." 10 minutes later, I had it. And after checking out phones, I called eCare and asked them to match Verizon's price, and they said they couldn't, but retentions could, and they transfered me.

This is my first post--and probably one of my last (at least for 2 years until my contract is up), as I'm really not that into fiddling with my phone--but I wanted to thank this community as a whole for educating me on what is possible. I'm going to be saving hundreds of dollars because Sprintusers.com exists.

Hi all,

Just landed a sweet deal......got the moto q for $49 (paid 149-100 mail in rebate),and a sweet plan deal.

Took some work

called retention a few weeks ago trying to get the treo 700p. After a few calls back and forth i had them down to 199 but then the mail in expired so it would have been 299. I waited till yesterday to call again, got a sweet girl did a little flirting and here is what i got:
MOTO Q $49
650 anytime
free pcs to pcs
N & W @7
500 free text
Unlimited internet

$42/per month after discounts
Sprint customer since 2001.....make sure you say never late with payment since I started. And tell them you see deals where new customers are getting them for free. Dont settle, as your date nears they will break. My two year would have been over the 16th of feb. Took me probably 3 hrs total with all the calls but hey I got what I wanted.

I have been with sprint for almost three years now, but i recently upgraded to the m10 so i had to extend my contract, i was wondering with this what is the likelyhood of me getting a retention plan? i have had numerous problems where they have messed up my billing and think i may be able to use this to my advantage. Currently i have F&F family plan with 800 min. 69.99, a third line for $9.99, unlimited text for $8.00 on two of the lines and powervision ultimate $25.00 on one line, i also have insurance on all three phones at $6.00 a month, also have %25 company discount.

Hi all, long time lurker, I've been with Sprint for ~9 years and familiar with the retentions deptartment. Just wanted to post my latest experience with Sprint. I've been out of contract since October and was waiting around to hear the release date of the new PPC-6800...after months and months of waiting, I decided I'd just get the Treo 700wx rather than wait another 3 months for the supposed Mid May release. I called directly to retentions and this is what I got. Not much difference except some added features. Still ends up being cheaper than what I was paying overall.

- Line 5 - Sprint SERO 500 Minutes - $30
- Line 6 - Unlimited Data Plan - $59.99

So the math is $85 (Plan) + $5 (N&W) + $30 (SERO) + $59.99 (Data card) = $180 + taxes - 25% business discount = ~$136 + taxes

New Plan - (4 Treo 700wx's at $199)
- $85.00 PCS Free & Clear Plan (5 lines)
- Minutes Are Shared On This Plan
- All Minutes Include Long Distance
- 2200 Anytime Minutes
- 500 Txt (All lines) - Free
- Unlimited PCS To PCS Calling
- N&W @ 7 PM - $5
- 25% Business Discount
- Line 1
- Power Vision - $10 (originally $15)
- Line 2 - Free
- Line 3 - Free
- Line 4 - Free
- Line 5 - $10

New total is $85 (Plan) + $5 (N&W) + $10 (AAP) + $40 (Power Vision) + $59.99 (Data card) = $199.99 + taxes - 25% business discount is ~$150 + taxes.

Overall I'm pretty happy, my brother kept running over on his minutes on the SERO plan and we never used 2000 AT minutes. Adding him to the existing shared family plan keeps him from running over and makes the overall bill cheaper. How did I get so many AAP lines for free you might be asking...I always had 3 lines included and it was supposed to be $20 to AAP b/c of the old plan I had, it didn't let the rep key it in for $10. Line 4 was originally a SERO plan but my brother left the country for 6 months and I used the text message hike to try to cancel the account but I guess the rep wanted to keep the account open and asked if I wanted to add it to my existing plan for free rather than closing it, so I got lucky on that one. Line 5 is the only one I have to pay $10 for which is better than the $20 my plan stipulates. Free 500 text per line was key since all of us text. I know you guys probably think I'm greedy, but I'm going to try to email E-Care to get N&W at 6 pm and hopefully a loyalty discount. Good luck to everyone trying to get better plans. If you have any questions, PM me and I'll try to help as best as I can.

Try as I might, 10+ reps would not budge on the SERO plan. So instead I put them to work to get my current plan:

1000 Anytime Minutes
180 Bonus minutes per month
Free Long Distance
Free Roaming off network
Free mobile to mobile
Power Vision Pack
Unlimited SMS Messages (Text, picturemail, videomail)
Night & Weekend Minutes - Nights starting at 7 p.m

My cost for this plan is $40 for the main plan, $10 for the Power Vision / SMS Messaging and $6 ($7 now) for the equipment protection plan.

They said they could not get al the free codes on, so I have to write every month to get the $5 credit for 7pm nights and weekends.

Anyone have success with retentions for the SERO plan? I was able to change over to the SERO plan (effective in a few days) and am eligible for the $150 rebate. However when I tried to order the phone throught the www.sprint.com/sero site the order got cancelled because it couldn't port an existing sprint number. E-Care was able to move my plan but couldn't help with the account. When I called telesales, they were not helpful as my current non-SERO plan still showed as active until my billing cycle on 2/23. Thus I wanted to order a new phone but it was significantly more epensive. Not sure which way to proceed now.

Thanks.

Why not combine likes 6 and 7 together into a $59.99 / 550 Family plan? I'd bet you could do that and have them share a larger bucket of minutes at no additional cost. Plus, at contract time they would both qualify for a rebate without any hastles. They would also have the pcs to pcs included as opposed to the $5 charge and $5 credit, and have 7pm nights as well as the roaming included.

Just a thought :)

I've spoken to so many reps that insist that you can't have 2 family shared plans on one account. but of course this is along the lines of them insisting that the biggest family plan sprint offers is 3000 minutes (yeah right!). so maybe I'll try ecare next to request that change to lines 6 and 7.
Oh yeah,I forgot to mention the first incoming minute free on all of my lines. I'm now paying less for 7 lines sharing 4500 minutes and 2 individual 200 min plans, than I was paying for these same lines sharing 1000 minutes and 2 indiv. 200 min. plans. I love this forum! I am donating some money soon.

I can't see why they would refuse you 2 family plans, so long as your account has the required credit class. You may want to ask the retentions dept why you can't combine lines 6 and 7 into a family plan as I described, and still keep the other goodies.

Hello, long time lurker, first time poster.

How is the best way to get to retentions? *2 Cancel? Then Claire asks if I want to cancel my account, I have a hard time saying Yes to that.

I have a $70 F&F account, 2 lines, roaming, old Vision Pictures Pack. Pay $95 before a 14% discount. Been with Sprint since October 2000.

I'm not looking for many enhancements, except we need to replace the wife's VM4500 with maybe a Katana. Trying to get some sort of deal on that. I have a Treo 650 that I would like to change to a 700wx or 6700. Our contract is up in May, so I am a couple months early. What are my chances?

I guess what I am asking is how do I get to retentions to deal with them, when I'm not really interested in leaving?

Thanks for the help. I'm not a great negotiator so any help would be great.

Welcome & here's my advice:
Just tell them what you told us here. You want to renew without having to increase your expenditure & would like to upgrade your phones like the new subscribers, to better capture the signals since your phones are on its last legs

Once they say ok to the phones, you can try to ask them for upgrades such as better Power Vision packages (PVPlus to get picture mail btw), bonus minutes ,free txt mssg.

But the least you will get is the phones & loyalty discount (~10-25%) for sure. Your plan will surely get upgraded to something better value wise to match your current needs. I mean roaming is free now on all family plans. BTW: they have sales on their phones right now on the website for new subs so make sure you get your phone for free or nearly free like the new subs.

Just stay calm & if 1 rep doesn't work to your liking, politely tell them you will call them back after you think about it.

Best time to call according to Dan is during big sporting events or early during the day.

Sanyo 3100 is not that fancy. It's a camera flip phone. which is good if they got kids or grandkids cus they can take pics of them and look at them on the phone at all times. And if they're like my mom she loves showing off my kids to people.

This isn't true. I recently upgraded the phone i got for my mom because she had it more than two years. I wanted the m610 and wanted the discount so i upgraded hers and came home the same day and switched my a920 with it, didn't have any problems with it either.

Paid 300.00 for both Q's and I got my sero plans on June 06 !!! Yes retention can help you if you been loyal.

Getting the Q's in 3 to 4 days.

She told me I can send in the mail in rebate for the Moto Q that was 199.99 and that basically I would get my money back and it will be 99. How long does sprint take with giving the rebate back?

Here is the response I got from ecare, when I asked about getting free unlimited sms on my 3rd line. Sprint is great with helping out there loyal customers.

Dear *****,

Thank you for contacting Sprint together with Nextel. I will be happy to assist you regarding the unlimited text massaging option.

The code to make the Unlimited Text Messaging free for the third line has been expired. This option was added on the first two lines earlier.

This is the reason; we are unable to make the Unlimited Text Messaging option free.

However, considering your long association with us, I have added the 15% additional discount on the third line towards the total monthly service charge.

With this additional 15% discount you will save $$8.25 towards the total monthly service charges of $45.00 ($30.00+$10.00+$8.00+$7.00) on this line.

>$30.00 Sero Plan
>$10.00 Night and weekend option
>$8.00 for Unlimited Text Messages
>$7.00 Total Equipment and Protection option

Hence, you will save the charges for the Unlimited Text Messages on this line as well in future.

If there is anything I can assist you with, please don't hesitate to write back to me. I will be happy to assist you.

Thank you for contacting us. Have a nice day.

ok this isn't an offer from retention well I guess it kind of is because I called to cancel my service and I ended up getting out of my contract without paying the ETF. I called and spoke with a rep who told me that I would have to pay the ETF. He connected me to the rentention person who also told me that I would have to pay the ETF. After I told her that I could not use my phone at home and that I didn't have a house phone and needed a working cell so that I could keep in contact with my daughter's teacher and my dr since I was pregnant. She asked for my zipcode which is in a small rual area. She proceeded to tell me that my calling area was in the next city over. I told her yeah that was fine but my home calling area was a rual area. I also let her know that I was tired of sprint promising me that towers was coming but hasn't come yet. I also told her to look at my previous bills and to notice how my minute usage gets less and less every month. So she put in some code and allowed me to get out of the ETF for not having a good coverage area.

Oh, how do you call directly to retentions? That might be why i was just talking to a rep while trying to handle other issues they were giving me trouble with.

Sounds like you've been a good customer. If you're looking at going to another company, talk to sprint retention first. It all depends on the rep you get. Just make sure you don't ask for the world, because even if you get it, it can come back to bite you down the road when it's time to negotiate again. The plan you have with 100 text will only work with a regular Vision plan, to upgrade to a Power Vision phone is going to cost you a little more. Just depends on what you want. Sometimes, if you ask for something small, you get alot more than you asked for.

that is very true...all i wanted to do is add text to all line and ended up getting discounted vision and a 75 dollar service credit to go with it

Old Plan: 2500 shared minutes, 3 lines, unlimited nights and weekends, free text messaging on daughter's line, all for $129 and taxes.

New Plan: The same less 15%

Three phones, one grey Razr for $29.99 and two red ones for $39.99 each.

I called Retention. After reading some of the deals you guys got, should I call back or email ecare? Wife and I dont use the text messaging but it would be nice to get internet pictures from daughter while she is at school, or send them out ourselves. We dont use the phones more than 400-500 minutes even calling between Sprint users. Do you think they would do anything for her to have unlimited access to ringtones and the net? What do I do? DId I get a good deal on the phones or should I bargain harder? I have not heard all that great things about the Razr and about the same on the Katana, but I chose a Razr for me so when we go on vacation, we can use one charger for the room and one for the car and not have to have different ones.

Thanks

Good thinking. I think I would've gone for free razrs since you *only got about $20 off on each phone over a new subscriber but it sounds like you got what you wanted.

What you get from retentions has a whole lot to do with what kind of customer you are. I'm in my 7th year with Sprint, MRC for the first 6 yrs was about $150/mo. I haven't been late on a payment in about 5 months. I've got a little bit of leverage to go on.

DJ_Vitamin_J
03-06-2007, 03:33 PM
yeah true that...i have never been late on a payment since day one (02 2003) the girl i spoke with was throwing phone offers at me...moto q for 50 or 6700 for 200 or ex720 for 100 with a contract renewal but that was for a 5th line activation im waiting for the 6800 for my fifth line

Yeah, it all depends on what kind of customer you are. If you spend alot of money, aren't late with payments, and don't call all the time for credits; you'll most likely get a good deal. We tend to be very generous with our good customers and I go out of my way to help them.

I can't really explain how I did it, because it took a variety of calls and emails to get my plan all worked out. I think things are finally ironed out. I have one more line that I would have liked to upgraded and worked out a little differently, but all in all Sprint has been very good to me.

FF plan $69.99 (w/all it includes, sprint to sprint/free roam/n/w min, etc.)
$10 6 pm night/weekend
Add a phone ($10 each lines 3-5)
28% corporate discount

Perks I've gotten added recently:
EDVO free for 2 years on 3 lines($10 plus $10 credit)
Vision free for 1 year on one line plus credit up front for 2nd year free.
500 free texts for 4 of the 5 lines.
(5th line is a new line so no perks on it.)
All perks added when I had 7 months to go on contract.
Upgraded 2 phones (Q for $149, fusic for $99) recently. New line is a fusic for $25 after Kelloggs rebate
One phone is a treo 650 that I didn't want to upgrade.
The last line is not up for full renewal until July, so it is stuck with an older phone and no EDVO. (could only get 1 year of free regular vision)

We've been customers for several years, 6 or 7 I think, and have never asked for any perks until now. I always pay my bills on time.
Now, with all the work it has taken to get things right on my plan and w/my upgrades on phones I know it probably looks like I'm a problem customer when they pull up my plan. As long as billing gets it all straight, things are good. I really am not a problem customer, just took me a lot of work to get all the things I wanted and was promised by various reps.

Ive never been late. Have 3 lines for four years, averaging $120 a month. Heck, Im new to all this, and I would have liked to have gotten free or cheap internet access for my daughter at least on her line rather than $15 a month, so she can send pics to her friends or our email, say if her tire looks low on her car, etc. Free phones would have been cool. Too late or can you help?

I can't help personally, but getting a good deal on something for your daughter shouldn't be a big deal. Just let them know you can work with them if they can help you out. Make sure you bring up your account history.

Will they do anything if I already called today, got the 15% off and the phone deal, or will they still bargain? Am I likely to get both the phones free and a free internet for her, or one or the other (and if so, which one>)

I lack of uniformity in responses can be frustrating for some, but from reading the threads- it also allows for great deals.

I say be friendly, keep calling and trying. It can't hurt (unless you call 10 times a day  )

Thanks for your input DorG!

I called today after a nasty experience trying to get a SERO plan.

Orig Plan - Out of contract since Apr 2005.

$100.00
2000 minutes
Shared minutes
9-7 N&W
Unl. M2M
Unl. Vision
Unl. Text

SAMSUNG PM-A740
SE T608

------
New Plan:

$100.00
2000 minutes
Shared minutes
7-7 N&W (+$5.00)
Unl. M2M
Unl. PV/EVDO
Unl. Text (+$3.00)
Add a line (3rd - new) - (+10.00)
New total: $118.00

It's better than what it would be retail. Plus I have a 25% NVP discount, so the increase is minimal.

NEW PHONES:
2 Moto Q @ $99.00/each
Samsung A900M @ $10.00 (for the 11 year old niece - no home phone...)

I probably could have done better, but I cant say Im complaining at all.. I'll hit them up for a loyalty discount in a year or so. Been a customer for a long time.. Plus, I should be able to rebate the 2 phones.

if you get the right rep, you may be able to pull the treos for $199, make sure you mention thats what VZW offered you for treo's if you port your numbers over. they wont want to lose a 5 phone account. back in the day i got my treo 700p's for $99 each...but of course things have gotten strict since.

When talking to the retention department, how should I approach the subject of getting a better deals? Mention that I have been loyal customer 7 years and never late with payments? Or threaten to take business elsewhere?

Goodgyrl
03-18-2007, 07:27 PM
I would try the nice approach first. When I was on my mothers line and trying to cancel without paying the early termination fee I did the nice approach and talked nicely to the lady. She offered me everything to get me to stay but I just wanted to cancel without the ETF. I then mentioned to her that my service area was poor. She looked it up and seen what I meant and waived the fee. And told me if there was anything I could before my phone was to be turned off call back.

Thanks goodgyrl for your advice. When I asked if I should "threaten to take business elsewhere" I didn't mean to make it sound like "should I be mean" because I'm not that kind of person!! In fact, even if I don't get extra discounts, I have no desire to go elsewhere since Sprint (for the moment...not digging the changes caused by their merging with Nextel :badidea: ) is perfect for my family.

I know this has been touched on before but I thought I'd mention this. A lady came into the (corporate) store today asking to add texting to her plan. When I looked at her account, I noticed the retention plan (1000 min $50 fam plan) and asked how long it had been on there, she said not long, maybe a month, but she had also had Sprint since 1999. Also, something she said that the bill would go un paid for periods of time. I thought that was odd that retentions would offer that plan, but he just letting everyone know. Also FYI, an AAP with a retention fam plan is $7.99/month unless u get it free.

AAP means "Add A Phone" which are additional lines on your plan.

I have been with Sprint for 9 years and always on time w/ payment. I have 4 lines and pay about $200 a month for 4000 minutes.
After about 6 months of erronous charges to my account of approx. $30, where I had to call every billing cycle and spend one hour explaining that the charges were for pictures that were covered by the picture mail package I had, I finally decided to quit Sprint. All 4 phones were out of contract (for a few years).
I was directed to retentions and the CS rep. was awesome. She offered me a new BlackBerry 7130e for free without a contract. I took it and when it arrived, I found out that I would have to activate a $40 a month data plan! I didn't want to pay that much so I was offered 20% off the entire plan (giving me the data package for about $7 more than I was paying before). I was okay with that.
It turns out that I really don't like the BlackBerry. I am a lefty and a Mac user and this phone dosen't really work for me at all. Yesterday, I recieved a letter from Sprint stating that I had renewed a 2 year contract! Yikes!
I just called Sprint and asked to speak with the Retentions Rep. who gave me the BlackBerry, (she gave me her login ID). I told her I wanted to return the BlackBerry because I didn't want the contract. She sent me a return kit (goodbye free phone!). She told me that she could send me a Treo 700p for $250, but my thinking is, that is what a new customer pays for it -- what about my 9 years of loyalty?
I had such a great feeling about Sprint after I got the free BlackBerry and it all fell apart...
What should I do? I had it so sweet with the free BlackBerry and now I am right back where I started, only after 10 hours of phone calls. I want a great deal on a Treo 700p -- especially now that the Treo 755p is coming out in 6 weeks... do I have leverage?
