Just got off the phone with a great sprint lady who finally took care of me (3rd call to retention):

Old Plan:
$40 - 400 min
8pm N/W
m2m - Free

New Plan:
A920 phone - $50
$40 - 1000 min
8pm n/w
m2m - Free
ul text - Free
PV - $20 w/ $10 credit each month = $10

$50 for the a920 phone and $50 a month definatly satisfied my needs. They first offered me the a920 for $75, but reading on here that people were getting it for less I sounded reluctant and so she offered another $25 off. Got the $10 credit on power vision for just asking more and more questions about the power vision, but being dissappointed with the price. I also asked why text messages werent included, and she offered to throw them into my plan for free if I got the power vision. I know its not an outrageous plan, but it sure beat what I had and is more than Ill need. The funny thing is last night they offered me n&w at 7, but no upping the minutes, she offered to 600 more min and it was a no brainer.

Just be friendly with them and up front. I started my call with them stating I was looking to get a new phone since my old one was over 2 years old and wanted to see what kind of deal I could get that was better than the $150 off for existing customers. She started into all the plan stuff herself when I mentioned I was out of contract and would possibly re-sign.

Good luck yall and thanks for the tips!

After reading all the posts on this site for a few weeks, I finally got around to calling and negotiating my new plan with 3 new phones. Thanks to everyone for all the help and suggestions. Here's what I got...

Phones:
Treo 700p - $400
Treo 650 - Free
Samsung A900 - Free
Free activation/free shipping on all 3 phones

Base Plan:
$60 for 550 shared minutes, n/w 7pm, free roaming, fimf, pcs (#) to pcs
$0 for add a phone on 2nd line
$10 for add a phone on 3rd line

Internet/Data Plan:
$0 for Sprint (#) Power Vision on Treo 700p
$5 for "corporate unlimited internet/picture pack" on Treo 650 (Power vision isn't available on this phone)

Discounts:
23% Corporate Discount
15% Loyalty Discount

Total monthly bill:
$49 + tax

Overall, I'm pretty ecstatic about this plan, considering my old plan had 3 old phones without internet access and with fewer minutes for $75. The only thing I'm slightly disappointed in was that I couldn't get the Treo 700p for slightly cheaper, but since I got the other 2 new phones for free, I can't complain... :)

I would try to get 1200 minutes for $60.00. I used to have that plan but switched to the 1000 minutes plan for $50.00.

I don't think there is a catch. If you got offered a free one, you're lucky, or very skilled at the retentions game. I know people here have gotten free 6700s, and they have not experienced any troubles with the charges or anything.

My new plan (thank you retention Lady!)

700p - Free
800 free incoming
6pm Nights and weekends - Free
Unlimited texting - Free
Ultimate Vision - Free
100 extra roaming minutes - Free
15% Employer discount
Credits for last months texting and vision (like 40$)

Phone will be here Friday! Soon I will have to call and change plans to add the old 920 back in for the girlfriend. in due time i guess.

My choice was either the 6700 or a 700p. I took the p for the fun of it. That way if i feel like switching, I wont have to pay the full sticker price for the more expensive of the two (the 700p).

OK...I just called retentions on behalf of my friend. Her plan expired last month and she is out of contract and wanted to switch to Verizon. I told her she would be retarded and got her a GREAT plan! She was a member since '02.

Old plan:
$45 for 500 minutes
free mobile to mobile

New Plan:
$200 off any Sprint phone
$40 for 1000 minutes
500 text messages a month (Free)
N&W's starting at 6pm (Free)
$10 EVDO PV credit (just in case she wants a PV phone)
15% loyalty discount

I see on here some have gotten the Samsung a920 for $50 bucks, lowest I could get was $200 bucks. I didn't budge that but definitely want to get her the best deal. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

^^^ Keep trying. And I hope you were speaking ot the retentions department. That deal doesn't really sound like a great one for a person out of contract who actually wants to switch to another carrier.

Also, satanicide, can you give more details on your phone upgrade? How recently did you get your current phone (the one before the upgrade to the 700p)? In what means did you get that phone, retentions? And what kind of plan and when did you last renew your contract? Thanks!

Moved from Nextel to Sprint a month ago. Started with my 920 (which refused to work correctly) got the phone swapped out, and they shut off my account. I called, got it fixed, and moved on. Found out they messed up on my Ultimate Vision by charging me for the service, and for each channel separately. Called at got that fixed. Took 7 emails to ecare to get my employer discount added and when they did that, they added a 125$ charge to my account for the deposit. Shut my service off again today. Called got it corrected (after going to two different Sprint stores). Called retention and told them I want my services shut off.

She asked what I used my phone for so I explained that I use it for business. She asked me if I would rather have a 6700 or a 700p on good faith. How much will it cost me? Activation. lol ill take the 700p. "Ok, now lets look at your account, I see you are paying over 100$ a month, lets see if I can change that." I told her that I travel on business a lot, liked being able to use my ultimate vision while I was on the road or at work, and I used some texting. She changed everything to free, and gave me free n&w at 6pm.

I love her...

Do you guys get the names or the Rep or their login code at retention that really helped you? I always ask for both info everytime I call. Maybe we should pass it along to each other so we all can get the best possible deal. I think there are certain levels of retention that will get you almost anything you want if we have a an idea who they are it would make your sprint experience a much rewarding one(smile). Although you will not be able to get transfered directly to them when you call retention, you can ask the person in retention that you're speaking with to send an email to that Rep directly requesting for a call back and refer a prior conversation you had with them.(Make one up) Worked like a charm for me. I know also that due to privacy and security issues it might not be the best idea but how bad could it be. What y'all think? I do have direct number for the buisness retention if anyone needs it.

That is a great idea...I always get their name and ID's...just to insure they documented my account when I call back...and if their is a problem they could be emailed.

Nice, well I'm glad that they gave you a free 700 (or the offer offer for the free PPC) for your troubles. Before reading your story, I was just under the impression that Sprint was finally offering free PPC's/700's...at least it's clear now that it was under special circumstances of Sprint messing with your account so often. Thanks for your reply. :wavey:

Ramacon

The email is real easy but a few times when I called to ask for a specific rep, they were willing to try and help me out before they send the email out to the rep. At that point I would either get what I want or someting extra. It never hurts to ask the rep if they are able to assist you with the problem. If they can't then they will tell you that you have to speak back with that rep. I also think the best time to call is just before 1:00am.

SL

I've never tried calling in to request to have a different rep e-mail/call me back. Perhaps I'll try that especially if someone has some good rep ID's I should request. :)

I've tried three times (even with one provided by jumonjii (again, many thanks)) and twice I've gotten no response back after a message was left to contact me, and once a rep said there is no system in place to contact other reps.

YMMV, of course.

I was wondering how u got the $40 1000 anytime. I tried over and over and they keep telling me it cant be done. Lastly i got a retention rep that said she would give it to me if I can give her the number of my "friend" who has that plan so she can get the codes needed to give me that offer and of course i had no friend but you guys on Sprintuser posting all these great deals. HHHEEELLLPP?!? anyone have a good plan and a # i can use when i Call her back?

jumonjii
07-04-2006, 11:51 PM
That's bull. That rep was calling your bluff.

The 40 dollars 1000 minute retention plan is common. I think they try to push the standard plans. If you don't budge, then they offer the retention plan.

Send a PM to Tai, she can probably help you out.

Dafluke24
07-05-2006, 12:29 AM
Yup, I agree with jumonjii. It's a standard retention plan so it shouldn't be too hard to get. Why doesn't sprint just make a list of codes available to retentions so they're all on the same page? There would be less inconsistency that way.

jumonjii
07-05-2006, 12:35 AM
Maybe there is a sales quota ratio that has to be filled by each rep or something.

Like:
x amount of accounts per month have to be standard plans
x amount of accounts per month can be promotional (retention) plans.

So depending on where the rep is with their quota, depends on which plan they will throw your way.

Just a guess.

Dafluke24
07-05-2006, 12:50 AM
That sounds logical. But I didn't know retentions would offer a standard plan if Customer Care would be able to as well. Maybe Tai could enlighten us?

When I was going to cancel last month, the 2 reps I got kept offering me standard plans. I flat out said "those plans suck, I've seen them, they are listed in the brochure, what do you have that isn't listed in the brocure?".

But that was just because I was offered a retention plan 2 years ago so I already knew about them.

I probably would've taken one of the standard plans if the rep wasn't such a d!ck about me wanting to cancel.

I think it all depends on what and how you address certain loyalties/credits/retentions with the department, when requesting them. Whenever I call retentions (1-800-658-7564), before I make the call, I first email with a few ecare representatives, just to get the facts straight.

Then I call retentions with all the information I gathered, it is GREAT practice. I simply state to retentions that I was offered some loyalties/credits/retentions through ecare...then I play dumb...I say these 'deals' currently aren't offered and the ecare person highlighted the loyalty/credit/retention...and I was instructed by ecare to contact this department b/c they couldn't finalize the loyalty/credit/retention deal and also to get more information regarding it.

Which gives me complete control b/c ecare has actually assured me that I could get a specific deal and that I just needed to call retentions to finalize it. While on the phone with retentions I read the 'specific deal', usually embellishing it to tailor exactly what I know they can give me.

If the rep knows the codes and feels like hooking me up...it takes all of five minutes. If they don't feel like doing it; I simply say thank you and hang up and call back in a day or two. I have never been denied anything I asked for.

I have been a loyal Sprint customer paying a lot of money for many many years until I recently (two weeks ago) found this forum.

I have a horrible plan. Area-wide plan for 60.00 w/ 2000 anytime minutes and 9pm NW and my 2nd line is 20.00 and my contract is just about up. So I rolled the dice today and let them know I was looking at Verizon with the "Q" phone and the 700w. That was basically all I had to say, the guy was all over it and in the end, I got a 700p for free and I will call back in a day or so to upgrade the other phone on my line.

Sprint for life now....or at least 2 years...

The offers seen here are good examples of 'crisis' management. It would seem so much easier to just work with the customer and keep them happy to begin with than this style. Once your service drops from 1st place in the customer's eyes....returning to that point is almost impossible.

I'm not going to threaten to quit....I'll just do it when my contract ends. What dumb games!

I didn't threaten to quit, I told them to shuf off my service. Some things are unavoidable and will happen to you with any provider of any service. Sprint cant please everyone but at the same time, they roped you in.

The idea is that you have to ask the rep for the specific services and justify why they need to give it to you (e.g. competitors, bad service/phone, etc...). As mentioned before in previous threads, it also doesn't hurt if you speak to a female. Generally, females tend to have less of an ego and pride, which usually result in a genuine effort to make customers happy (wish this were true in our everyday relationships).

In any case, keep calling back and when you get the nice lady, act frustrated, ask politely and you may get lucky.

On the ass end of things, no would get shet if the Sprint call centers were outsourced overseas. Thank God we have fluent English speaking Americans with the authority to provide Americans great service. Keep up the "gook" service Sprint!

Ok Sprintusers, I received my bill with all the addition and changes to my plan which seem pretty okay except for a few things. I was given a credit $84.79 that was suppose to be applied to my bill as a part of the retention however, this was charged to the A900 phone that was suppose to be completely free. Apparently they discounted the A900 from $349.99 to $270.00 and applied the $79.99 credit for me to get it free. I called customer care *2 and the rep was able to adjust back the $79.99 for the A900. After inspecting my account online later, I also found out that the $350 credit I got for the Treo 700 was temporary and went against my account once my plan got adjusted. I then called the business retention again @ 866-818-1802 and spoke to a rep. who has only been there about 6 months. She was able to credit back my account the $350. I also brought up back the issue of me getting the phone for $250 instead of $350 which I posted here earlier. She was a little hesitant to do it but she gave me another $100 credit towards my account for the Treo. I must say even after numerous hours on the phone and sending emails to get the $100 credit, this is the most gratifying moment of it all. I almost gave up because I got tuned down so many times but it pays not to give up. My other main goal which seems almost impossible is to get my plan switched to 2 Seros without loosing any of my discounts and applying them without changing my numbers. I heard this is very hard to do but you never know what can happen.

Called *2 tonight, said "cancel" and was transferred directly to retentions.

Here's what I had:
- 2 Lines
- F&F 800 Shared minutes for $69.99 + free roaming
- Free N&W @ 7:00
- 10% Loyalty Discount
- Free M2M
- Vision pictures pack (1st line) w/100 Free Text Messages: $15.00
- Video Mail (1st line only): $5.00
- Vision pictures pack (2nd line) w/100 Free Text Messages: $5.00

Here's what they offered:
- Same plan
- 2 LG Fusics @ $79.00 each
- Power Vision Ultimate Pack @ $15.00 per line
- 20% Discount

I told them I would call them back, waited a few minutes, called back and asked to get the phones for less. He asked how much, I said "free, if possible!". He laughed, said nothing and then I said "could you do $50.00 each" and he said OK. I also asked for 6 PM nights for free but he said no.

All in all, I'm pretty pleased. It could have been better but I will end up paying about the same that I am now but I'll get PV Ultimate. Plus I think I got a decent price on the phones.

BTW, looks like I will lose my free 100 text messages. Real bummer there as I use about 80/mth. Anybody know how much text messages are without a texting plan?

Don't give up. Keep calling them to get the 100 text for free. Tell them that you use your text message a lot to communicate at work and you would appreciate it if they could offer it to you free even it's for a month. If they can give you 20% loyalty discount they sure as hell can offer atleast 100 text for free..

I have a couple quick questions for anyone out there...

1.) The 1500 min retention plan for $50, are you allowed to share minutes on that plan?
2.) Which plans allow more than 5 lines? (Is there a certain amount of minutes or price before they allow more than 5 lines?)

Thanks.

Let's see who can get their account the most notes and get flagged first.

I'm not too worried about the account being "flagged" - I was very up front with retentions about my issues, was polite yet firm and I have never called them before in my 6+ year history with Sprint. I think that it's a win-win for both of us. Furthermore, I don't think that I was outside my bounds by telling them I would think about it, calling back and asking for more. I was bargaining!

Besides, I didn't get everything I asked for!

Here my lastest retention plan.

Primary line: Free/Clear $175.99 6000 shared mins, 6 Sub Lines $30.00(3 are Free)...Included 6pm, UL SMS, EVDO-PICS-VIDEO, Roaming, M2M, FIMF Are Free on all Lines..Insurance 6.00 on Each Line Monthly Discounts: Business 27% Loyalty 15% Total 97.60$ after taxes :)

Whenever i call CS all I get is complements on my plan. They've never seen a such hootttttttttt plan. I tell them "this is what loyalty and good negotiating skills will get you". Im almost to the point were i dont pay full retail for anything. I started with Sprint then i moved to other services..I got comcast to give me Digital, Internet, Phone for 99$ a month for 2-years. Then i really pressed it, I called my CC's. I got my discover plat from 9.9 to 7.2 and 0 on all BT for 15 months and my Capital One from 14.9 to 11.6. Boy i love my new found Skill. Maybe i will try it out at the Best Buy that i frequent.

Wow...screw the 6700 I was going to get. I just got a really good plan, unless she messed up when changing it.

Line 1:
1000 A/T minutes
7PM N/W for free
M2M for free

Line 2:
shared A/T minutes
7PM N/W for free
M2M for free

Line 3:
shared A/T minutes
7PM N/W for free
M2M for free
Unlimited Texts $2.50
Unlimited PV for free

She said the plan was $57 something, and after all my discounts, it would come to like $43 or something. It won't take affect until the next bill cycle, so I have no idea if everything is right, but hopefully it is. Now I just have to remember to stay off the internet until the 4th of August.

The rep also quoted me a 650 for $75, but I declined that. Then, at the end of the call, she said, I'm notating your account that I offered you the 6700 for $75, and that you'll be calling back later to get that. Is there any way a rep can take a look at my account and see if she actually said a 6700 for $75, or if she just said that and put 650 in the notes? I'd love to call back and grab a 6700 if I can.

Sprint does not give insurance for free and power vision all depends on what has been offered to you in the past. remember this you just might get the person who will see you as a person who is out to get something for nothing and when you threaten to cancel he does just that and now you have nothing

Hey all,

I need some advice...

I am currently on a SERO plan and I want to get 3 more lines (on a separate non SERO account) for the rest of my family....I am planning on getting the $80 plan (69.99 + $9.99 add a line) and then calling retentions to see if we can get the price a little lower

Now my question is whether I should:

1.) Get the phones I want (2 a900's and 1 very basic phone) from the store and get a price match through retentions if they are cheaper elsewhere

Or

2.) Get 3 basic phones and see what kind of deal retentions will offer me on the phones I want

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

P.S. I am going to be switching a family over from cingular and we won't be porting any numbers

Freak4Dell
07-09-2006, 10:00 PM
Well, chances are, if you get 3 basic phones and then try to get a better deal on nicer phones, they'll just tell you they can't do anything. What I would try first is try to negotiate something on your line right now, which they'll definately shoot down because you've got a SERO plan. Then, when they shoot that down, act all depressed, and then bring in the story about the rest of your family. I did that earlier today, and the lady was sad that she couldn't do anything for one of the lines, but she gave me an overall plan change and free internet on a completely different line than the one I had originally asked about. If that doesn't work, you can always try other methods.

so i need your opinions. i've had my account since 2001 and my contract is up. i've been paying $45 a month before tax for just 300 anytime minutes, nw at 9, and m2m. i have another account that's sero that i plan on mirroring. what i'm trying to get out of retentions is a cheap 6700. i've read people getting 700p for $100 or getting 6700 for free. i don't think, with my plan, i'm important enough to sprint to get that but what are the odds of me being able to talk into getting one for $50-$100?

SL

I think the going rate for a 6700 through retentions is around $250. Anything under that should be a great deal.

07-10-2006, 01:23 AM
How hard is it to get retentions to mirror a plan? I have a friend that has been with Sprint for 5 years and his girlfriend has been with them for 6 years. When I told them about my plan, they asked if i could do anything with theirs.

My plan so far is: he just renewed his plan, hers is out. I am going to try and ger her to convince retentions to join their lines together (without him having to pay the 200) and match my plan for both of their lines. If not all for free, just a deep discount.

Any suggestions on how I should pull it off? I would like it to be in his name because I can get him a 15% employer discount, on top of probably a 10$ off the total.

$50 - 700 Anytime Minutes

$5 - 7pm Night & Weekend Minutes
My phone - an archaic LG 4NE1 (good solid phone, used it for 4yrs without ever having a problem)

My new plan....

$40 - 1000 Anytime Minutes
Free sprint to sprint
Free 7pm Night & Weekend Minutes
Free 500 Text Msgs/month
Free A920 phone
$70 service credit as a thank you for calling in and saving money with a much better plan

Thanks for this forum for giving me the heads up on what I could get. It was much better than I thought.

The key for anyone reading this and thinking about doing it is asking for what you want...and keep asking. I didn't ask about power vision because I'm not really interested in using my phone for that purpose, but when I called back the second time I just asked, hey what kind of a deal can you give me on text messages and he goes, since you're a valued customer I can offer you the 500 free/month. I said that'd be great thanks. But that wasn't in the initial offer, but there was no resistance when I asked for it. Initially they offered me the A900, but I asked for the A920 since the battery life is a little bit longer and that's more important to me than other features.

Good luck to everyone out there updating your plans and saving $$$$! Knock em dead :bang:

Hi guys,
I've been a member of this site for a while, but mostly read your very informative posts, and learned a lot over time. I've been with Sprint since 2002, currently have 3 phones on the account and the plan is as follows (nothing special, regular brochure pricing):

800 F&F minutes
$70 for first two lines
$10 AAP
Free unlimited texting on main line
$15 Vision on main line
$5 Vision on both sub lines
100 free texts on both sub lines
$10 Nights at 6 PM
$4 International calling on one phone
23% NVP discount

Lately my bill has been going higher and higher with no end in sight. My sister has graduated medical school and is now a doctor, and she frequently uses up more than half of the monthly minutes, causing us to go over, and if it weren't for fair and flexible, we would be broke. We have been getting $200 bills AFTER the discount and it is getting really frustrating, they even have started charging $36 just for switching phones (I bought a replacement on ebay). My plan expires on December 2 or something like that, so that's 5 months from now, I was wondering what anyone would suggest I should ask for? Thanks

buckeye,

be patient.. dont' call every day, i swear that they log this stuff. plus, i was out of contract when i got my deal. also, you have to be able to be deemed "worthy" for lack of a better word. so the longer you stay with sprint, the better your payment history (read: paying on time is number one, not how big your bill), the more likely you will get something

buckeyeb03

07-13-2006, 02:25 PM
Okay. I've got three successful retentions stories for you guys.

First story:

My first experience with retentions was for myself. I originally emailed ecare and told them about "all the problems" I was having with my A900 (lol). I also told them that two of my friends had had some of the same problems as me. I said I was currently on my 3rd Blade (which I actually was) and that as much as I wanted to love this phone, the constant problems were just too much. I told them that one of my friends received an LG Fusic, and the other, a 700p for free for their trouble. I told them that this excited me, because it was nice to know that Sprint was taking care of their loyal customers like that. When they replied, all they did was offer me $75 dollars off of the Treo, even though I had just activated my 3rd Blade and was no where near qualifying for rebates. Not good enough. I then called retentions and told them my "story." The first lady I talked to kept pushing me into the A920, even though I told her I didn't want it because whether or not she feels that it's an upgrade feature-wise, I don't consider something that costs $50 less and upgrade. She proceded to order the phone for me anyway, and took the liberty of crediting my account $50 to offset the difference in the two phones! I then called back and told the next CSR that this lady "forced" me into this phone and that I didn't want it. She then asked me "Well, what phone to you want?" I told her I wanted the 700p, but let's just say I'm not that good of negotiator and couldn't work that one out. Then I told her I wanted the Fusic, and she said "Okay." So I'm sending in my Blade and she's sending me the Fusic for free! I still get to keep the A920! So I might be selling it on here soon. Keep an eye out for a VERY lightly used mint condition A920 to hit the trading post!

Second Story:

This one actually ties in with the first one because after I got done with my deal, I said "What can we do for my wife?" My wife is on a separate account, but all I had to do was provide her information and the CSR let me speak for her. I told her that she was having problems with her A900 also, and that since I had been talking about the Fusic so much lately, she was beginning to want one, too. She said, "Okay." My wife's phone, however, was purchased back in February whereas mine, I had just gotten. So when I asked if we needed to send hers in to get her Fusic, she simply said, "They probably wouldn't even recognize it as a return, so no need to send it to them." So now, we'll have two brand new Fusics, a Blade, and an A920!

Third Story:

I then proceeded to call for my dad, who would never do anything like this himself, but gladly gave me his information so I could act as him and try and save him some money. The deal I got for him isn't quite as fabulous as ours, but to be fair, all he has is two lines, both with a Samsung A840 on it, so needless to say, I had a lot less bargaining power with those. He shares minutes with my little sister and his work just gave him a Nextel, so he doesn't use his Sprint phone near as much anymore. They were on the 2200 minute plan for $109.99, but now they only need around 1500 minutes. I also wanted my dad to get a multimedia phone so I could share videos of my son (his grandson, obviously) with him, as he lives in Missouri and I'm in Indiana. It was tough, and it took me three calls to get it done, but I ended up getting an offer of one new A900 and one new Sanyo 3100 in pink for my sister for $79.98 together (Shut up, that's a solid little phone for someone who doesn't need the world. Also, my sister's only 13). The plan wasn't anything special. Just bumped them down to the 1500 minute plan for $89.99, but they did throw on a recurring 20% discount for the next two years, as well as free 500 text messages on each line! With his recent bills averaging around $150, this will save him quite a bit of money!

I think I'll be staying off the phone for a while, just to play it safe. ;)

$85 for 2000 ATM
$10 to add a line
9 pm N/W
Nationwide long distance
no roaming, $0.40 a minute
$0.40 a minute if over 2000

includes vision pack on both lines

Sanyo 4900's

New plan

2200 ATM for 109.99
Free 2nd line
N/W @ 7
Free roaming
Free NWLD
500 Text messages on each line

PV could not be added yet, since my 4900's are vision phones, so I will have to call back and get PV added when I activate my A-920's

Discount of 25% on main line + $5 re-occurring credit
Discount 5% on 2nd line

77.50 before NVP of 23% which brings the total down to 59.66

Now when I call back I need to try and get PV for free. The current offer is $15 for the first line and $2.50 for the 2nd.

I would have loved to wait and try and get a better offer, but my 4900's have died and I needed new phones bad. Overall, I think it's a pretty good deal. More minutes and features for less money, plus new phones.

A lot of people seem to be focusing on obtaining a loyalty discount. Whether 5% or 25% they seem to offer different discounts depending on the plan, add ons, and credits they offer with it. The conclusion is a no brainer, work the whole package not just the loyalty discount. As always, tell CS what you need & be polite, then most of the time they will work with you so that you are happy. Sprint has always helped me out.

Hi guys, I think I'm ready to try my luck with Sprint tonight, they've been good to me in the past (I've had Sprint since 2002) and I've also had good luck with them (received over $1500 in credits with them since I've had them) and I think I've read enough of your posts to give me a good idea of what to ask for and what to expect, so hopefully everything will work out great and I'll get an awesome deal too! I'll keep you posted on what happens :)

LMAO

i am such rookie at this retention thing.

i tried to get some freebie and i got some professional retention person that "knows [her] competitions"

lol.

for starters i have the SERO $30 plan.

and the only thing i got offered is free untld text messaging.

i couldnt get the unltd n/w starting at 7pm. or the free phone protection plan.

i didnt even get to ask about the loyalty discount.

well, i got about 2 more weeks to try and hope for a different CSR.

wish me luck!

Wow if you got the unlimited text messaging offer you should be pretty happy, everyone wants that and few get it.

i guess you are right. i mean, i do have the SERO plan which includes

500 anytime minutes
unltd n/w starting at 9pm
unltd sprint to sprint
free roaming
free regular power vision pack
[will be] free unltd text messaging

i guess i can settle for the free untld text messaging and kindly ask for a loyalty discount since ive been with them since 2001.

and then call again much later to add my company discount.

---

another Q, most people write down their plans, and i know sometimes people dont get to fully write everything.
so, my Q is, can i assume that all written down plans by you guys have free roaming and free sprint to sprint if not noted?

You don't have to wait a long time to add the company discount. The company discount is a standard discount that they offer to anyone who works for the companies that are on the list. It's not something you have to be priviliged to receive.

Just ordered me a LG FUSIC and a Treo 700p. Got discounts on both phones. The Fusic they gave me $250 off for a total of $89 and the Treo I mentioned the pricing on http://wirefly.com and they matched it at $279.
My plan is the 1500 minute plan for $10 off with everything free. They waived the $18 activation on both phones. I even got the powervision access free on both phones. They say my total bill is $89 a month. I am sure gonna check my bill though.

1000 anytime
Unlimited NW at 8 :(
free 500 Text
$5 power vision
Free m2m

Free a900

She said it was about $38 total plus tax.

I was still 1 year away from contract running out. I think she was more inclined to hook me up because I have been a customer since 2000.

I'm happy. I've seen better, but this fits my needs very nicely.

So basically everybody that's getting these deals have been with Sprint for sometime now. I have only be with them for about 5 months and all I really want to do is get the PPC-6700 I'm paying about $80 a month Treo 650 is giving me a few problems lately. Could anything be done to get the phone and maybe the plan lowered? Any help would be great.

Well...you can give it a try. I mean, the worst that can happen is that they say no. Also, see if dfwpatrick can help you out. If worst come to worst, you can always sell your 650 and pay the difference on a 6700 on EBay.

Thanks Freak4Dell. Is that unheard of since I'm still fairly new? I was a Nextel customer for so long its a shame that all of the business that I've done with them can't be brought over to Sprint.

Freak4Dell
07-19-2006, 11:25 AM
I wouldn't say it's unheard of. I say I've been with Sprint for 10 years, but if a CS rep looks at my account, it hasn't even been one year. I did a transfer of liability about 11 months ago, so it looks like our account has only been active for less than 1 year. I still got a free a900 out of them, and had I known back then that they were willing to give out free 6700s, I probably could have talked them into one of those, too. Sometimes, I tell reps that I have been with Sprint for 10 years, and I tell them to look at archived records or something to prove it. I don't know if they even have the power to do that, but they usually just take my word for it and move along with the call. I'm sure you can tell them that you've been a Nextel customer for years, and just switched to Sprint because you expected the same great Nextel customer service (if Nextel didn't have good customer service, pretend they did), with the benefit of extended cellular coverage.

yes I did have to sign a new agreement. but to get a phone that I really wanted and was going to the store to buy at retail ($600) in a few days for free, I would have signed a longer contract than that. my plan is perfect and I don't have any plans on giving it up. as a matter of fact I will keep extending my contract to keep all my freebies from expiring.

yes and no. sprint has messed up my account in the past and they make right what they do wrong. of course in order for them to even look at my account some times I had to report them to the BBB. my plan has come with time and patience. it has taken a year to get it like that and a year to get the best phone for the best price (free). I never get mad with reps and I usually stick to emailing customer care so that I can have a paper receipt of what they offer me. you cannot go by the word of a rep you talk to on the phone. so do most of your business with sprint via your account online.

I was surprised to get the 6700 for free but they offered so I could not refuse. and I must admit the hardest freebie to get was the fimf and the unlimited text for free.

yo, i've been checking out this forum all day and decided to go ahead and give it a try. i've been a sprint customer for 5 years and am still under contract. this is what i had:

5 lines (shared) 2500 Anytime minutes @$100
Unlimited Vision (Free-grandfathered in) on 2 phones
Unlimited text on one phone
Paying $2.50-4.00 for text on two phones
Paying $7.50 for vision on one phone
small corporate dicount (maybe 10%)
that's basically it, may be forgetting a couple things...

Okay, i called retentions and gave them my story and got this....

5 lines (shared) 2500 Anytime minutes @$100
2 NEW FREE phones (Treo 700p - for me and Blackberry 7130E - for my wife)
Free Unlimited Power Vision for both of those phones
Free 500 Text messages on every line (pplenty)
20% Discount on top of existing discount.

I'm excited! but, the story may not be over. May be some more goodies to update later. Stay tuned... :Popcorn2:

oh yeah, this only took 22 minutes! (including my hold time)

unlimited s2s
free night weeks ends blah blah
unlimited data for $10
no discount on a phone
(treo 700p) was 399.99

any joe off the street can get this deal..wheres my incentive to stay a client?!!

so i switched to verizon business account

my plan costs more BUT
-faster download speeds already
-no coverage dropouts as yet and I travel to a new city each week
(sprint dropped all the time) too much roaming as well
-EXCELLENT Service

i dont mind paying for GOOD service..sprint has turned to crap I have been there though all the changes. and I hate to say it but they are a poorly run company

F-sprint they suck ..even after the IBM managment switch they still suck
nextel now is crap prices are jacked up but service and equipment is poor

our service cost has increased by almost 10% over the past year

off topic rant ..? hardly

isnt this the topic of rentention offers?

well thats the jist of what my deal with retention resulted in

read my post I have been a sprint user for a long long time and spent many thousands of dollars and their silly little retention dept couldnt even give me 50 bucks off a phone to keep my satisfied..thats gratitude for ya

as my company grows .so will my need for phones, they dont take that into consideration. my next 10,000 plus dollars will be spent elsewhere

yes the cost keeps getting cheaper but so does the quality of service
soon sprint will rank right up there with cingular and their patchwork, i mean "network"

im not in the market for the cheapest product out there
i want quality and service
in my book cheap always equals junk,
you get what you pay for.

they used to be the shiznit
but sprint has been rather disappointing in the cell market over the years..they now have offices similar to the old days of At&t where all you can do is buy phones and not get service..basically mom and pop shops selling phones.

the network coverage is weak..compare a digital sprint map to a digital verizon one..youll be surprised.

retention failed to keep me as a customer, they cant handle the volume of business my company will generate in the next year or two..maybe for a single line they keep you guys happy but not for corporation use.

I just got off of the phone with retentions, and with the help of Patrick, I'm a happy camper Maybe what i got is not as good as some of the deals people here have recieved, but I'm happy, and thats what matter to me. I have 5 lines on the acct, and this is what retentions just gave me:

2200 Anytime Mins F&F for $109.99
Second line Free
3 More lines at $10 each
Free N&W 7pm
Free M2M
Free 100 Text on 3 Lines
$15 unlimited text for me
$7.50 unlimited text for my wife
(2) $15 power vision with Sprint TV (originally the $25 pack) (total $30) (1st month free)
20% off Entire bill loyalty discount

Now my bill will be $153 plus tax for all 5 lines, where it has been $240 including tax for regular vision, no sprint tv, and unlimited text on 2 lines, and no text on 3 lines.

So im saving roughly $60 a month after taxes, and getting more features for my money. Now, that plan isnt TOO different from what sprint's offering openly to anyone, however my real savings came on my PHONES!

HERES THE REAL SAVINGS!

2 Treo 700's at $99 Each!
2 Katana's at $79 Each!

That way some of you all will start believing and get the Sprint holy ghost (hehe).

My question is. . . . why not just take the words of people when they say it? Why would someone who has been given great incentives using this forum want to put their account in jeopardy by "proving" to you that they got something. Take the information that the poeple are giving to you and use it to get what you want instead of thinking of others as lyers.

If you haven't noticed, Sprint takes a loss to keep people from leaving almost all the time, at least with people on this forum, anyway. They take a loss everytime they send out a free a900, Katana, a920, Fusic, or any other phone that they don't currently offer for free as a regular promotion. Taking a loss by sending him a 700p is no different, although the loss may be a bigger one.

However, they can afford to take losses like this because for every one of us, there are 5 other customers who are willing to pay full retail price just to have the latest phone, so essentially, Sprint makes their money back.

Sprint is also taking a loss by giving people free text messaging, or free PV. However, just as before, there are people that have no problem paying full price for these features, so Sprint makes more than enough money to cover the loss.

Well I just got off the phone with sprint and my first retention offer. Here's what I got, it's not that great but I figure I can call again at a later date.

1,000 AT Minutes N/W 7PM
Free Roaming
$7 Unlimited Texting
$10 Power Vision Plus Pack
20% Loyalty Discount
$65 per month

How long should I wait until I call back and try to get something a little better or would you say this is pretty good?

I don't know exactly who this was directed to. But I definitely agree with everything that you have stated. Sprint is by no means losing money in the long run though. Do you really think it cost them as much money as they charge for our plans, of course not. They might not make a profit on the phone end of the deal, but they sure are making a killer profit on the price of plans. Texting and Power Vision on the scale that Sprint has really does not cost them too much so they arent really losing money to give it out for free. I guess you could say that they are losing potential money because the people who get said items for free could potentially be paying for the same said items, but they already know that and for the most part don't seem to care.

But like you stated earlier. . . for every person they give an item for free, they probably have at least 100 people paying full price for that same item. And not to mention at least another 50 people probably paying a discounted price for that same item.

And overall they come out with the good end because in most cases you have to extend your contract which guarantees them that they will continue to receive your money for another couple of years. And plus its good publicity. I for one know that when I get something free from Sprint I go all around town telling of my great plan with Sprint and how everyone should jump on board and get Sprint too. Just my .02 . . . :wavey:

I guess its okay, but (there's always a but) you probably could have done better. You should have tried to get the SERO $49.99 plan which would have given you same features for probably a cheaper price.

10% Flyer Discount

So you might want to email ecare to get some freebies...

but as i have stated before I will eat my words...post a jpg of your invoice

Just because you can't pull it off yourself you have to taunt other people? I had sprint give me 2 fusics for $49 each last month. my contract was like 1 month in and it was my first phone call ever to retentions.

I hate seeing this thread being degraded like this. If you want to see an invoice, PM someone don't call BS on them on the thread.

My post was directed to jakobe, and it still is.

"when companies start giving away product to keep customers it shows that people want to leave for some reason then you dangle something shiny in their face for them to forget about the original problem."

Now, this is true, but as far as the people on this forum are concerned, the majority of them don't have any problems at all. We just want to have good phones and good plans, so we call retentions with they hope that they'll give us something, not with the hope that they will solve our problems, and that's because we don't have any problems. Sure, some of the people here do, but most don't, so that can't be used as an excuse on this forum.

"its a corporate tactic used by companies who dont have good services.
im not making this up."
I know you're not, nor did I ever suggest you were. This is a tactic that is used by many companies, and Sprint might be one of them. However, I don't think they have bad service. In fact, they have very good service. Yeah, shiny new objects make people forget about their problems, but when that happens, the service is no longer bad, is it?

"yes you may get cheap product but your still getting inferior service
and by acepting the cheap product as a"patch " for the hole problem"
Not true. I'm extremely happy with the service that they offer, as are most other people, so it's not inferior.

"you are being treated as your stupid..."
No, I'm not. If they thought I was stupid, they would charge me more for their services, not less.

Look, maybe Sprint wasn't able to solve your problems, but they are able to solve the problems of many of their customers, and when they offer something in addition to solving problems, that makes the customers even happier. I had a billing error last month, and not only did they solve the problem by removing the fraudulent charges, but they completely overhauled my plan to give me a much better plan than I have now. Just because they didn't fix your problem doesn't mean they never fix problems.

"oh and Cooery i dont think your any type of god...oh but wait maybe. as false idols are usually liars."
Cooery, he doesn't think you're a god because he's too busy thinking he is one. I guess he thinks he's the god of corporate business management or something.

"i called sprint earlier to verify your claims and they said they NEVER offer that not even to their business clients..and if they did ..its a promotion type of thing and that their rates will increase after a few months"
Ever think that this was because they didn't want you to ask for the same thing that coorey has? You don't think it exists, and they know that you might be gullible enough to believe it doesn't exist, so they tell you it doesn't exist. They still get money from you, and they still have coorey as a customer.

"but as i have stated before I will eat my words"
I have a feeling you'll be doing exactly that pretty soon.

"post a jpg of your invoice"

I woud like to thank COOREY and FREAK4DELL for their help. Even though I didn't get what I was really looking for (PPC-6700) the rep lowered my bill alot. I'm a little disappointed that I couldn't get the phone, but I am very happy that the rep took time out and did what he could do. I was paying roughly $80 a month and he brought my plan down to around $50 a month. So even though I didn't get the phone I glad that he was able to do that. Sprint is real good with helping out as long as YOU have the right attitude they are really willing to help. So maybe on my next go around they can do something for me with the phone. Once again thanks to COOREY and FREAK4DELL for the help.

Look, the only reason I used the quote is because it's definitely true of you.

You can do whatever you want, but one thing you DO NOT do is insult my religion.

Even though it's sad that you think the deals people are getting are just a bunch of BS, I think you'll shut up pretty soon when the images of the invoices are posted.

corbx, no problem, man. I'm here to help anytime.

Wow, then I must be the lousy exception... 8 years with Sprint, auto-billing to credit card since they offered it, 1 new phone via a discount in those 8 years and...
I just got off the phone with them in business service and retentions. They offered me less minutes, with half the current features for about $12 a month more then I'm paying on my 2002 plan; and their great 'upgrade' price on a Treo 700P was $299. Well, golly gee, sign me up for two or them babies.

After I was told that was the 'very best Sprint can offer', I had to hastily tell him I was sorry for taking up his time and said goodnight, so I wouldn't call "BS" on him right then and there. I guess since they give the store away to everyone who posts here, they figure old guys like me can pay full retail. (And yes, I have actually spoken with Patrick and used the tips he told me... that's how I got them down to the $299!)

Verizon is new in our market and giving Treo 700P or W for $99 to business volume accounts, plus a discount on the plan which is slightly more than my current Sprint. Based on the $299 price, I can go 16 and 2/3 months with VWZ before they end up costing me more than my current Sprint plan and I buy at the $299 price.

So I'll be going to the VWZ store to be picking up my new phone on Saturday.

Can I still be on SU if I switch to VWZ?

Please Note:
religion has no place on a forum such as this
niether do religous quotes..all they do is offend others that have different beliefs.

You put the quotes out there first. You opened yourself up to ridicule.
You pushed your religious beliefs on others by typing the quote.

You sure can.

You can also use the VZW offers to your advantage most of the time with Sprint.

One thing about Sprint...not all reps will give you the best deal. You have to call back.

usually im not one to cal BS on somebody but i sure would like to see your recipts seeing as how i spend thousands of dollars more than you and even hundreds more per month.

and sprint would not budge on the 700p price
the wholesale cost of the phone is more than what you stated
and we wanted 3 of them

if what you say is true sprint just took a loss to keep you as a customer
if that not a sinking ship then i dont what is.
(how much money are they losing to this?)
-below invoice phones
-cheap plans
-a drop in customer aquisitions since jan 06

make me eat my words
black out your name and post your invoice

It took me a few calls to retentions before I was able to get this deal. It just depends on how nice you are to the rep and what kind of mood they're in. The first rep i got was an ASS! She only offered me a lower plan with NO discounts, and $500 for a treo 700. I told her Verizon was offering me $99 to port over, etc and she basically told me to go with them, and was quite rude.

I used that to my advantage when i got a real nice rep (her name is Kim from Orlando, FL) on the phone. Not only that, but that rep that was an ass also happened to note my account that I was "demanding 5 Treo 700's at $99 each" when I never demanded a thing, i just told her what Verizon was offering me and asked, "what can sprint do for me?"

Anyway, long story short, this rep was awesome, gave me everything i wanted, no discounts on text unfortunately, but due to the deal i was getting on phones, i let that slide.

It really doesnt matter if you believe me or not, if i do get the time when the invoice comes i'll post it, however there are members here who have ALSO recieved Treo's at $99 (using the VZW offered it to me for $99 card) and also a couple people have recieved a Treo FOR FREE!

If you've talked to patrick, then you know you should ask sprint how they value you as a customer. They rate you with 1 to 5 $ signs. If you have one, they wont give you much, if you have 3 or 4 you have a better chance, and 5 is the highest value, meaning you have no late payments, pay a decent amount for a plan ($100+ per month), etc and thats what my account was rated at, 5 $ signs, so they worked with me pretty good.

Regaurdless, I don't know why someone would come on here and lie about the deal sprint gave them, unless they have no life and want people the
