Okay, so this weekend I was trying to copy over phone numbers from my gf's 7400 to her new A800 for her. My friend had an old copy of datapilot which he wasn't using, and since my snapsync version (which came with my sanyo cable) isn't A800-compatible, I tried to use datapilot, which says it is.

Anyhow, Datapilot requires version 3.11 to see the A800, I had version 3.1. No problem, I can update, since it is a legit copy and all, I thought this would be a quick process. Nope, turns out I have to go from 3.1 to 3.2, then 3.2 to 3.3, then 3.3 to 3.4 aaaaaaallll the way up to 3.81, then to 3.82, then all the way to 3.10.1. This took almost an hour of updating!

Then, when I got the 3.10.1, no matter how many times I ran the update for 3.11, it would go through successfully, but when I opened datapilot it would not have the A800 as an option in the phones listed. What the hell? So then for kicks I try to just get the numbers off the 7400, the program takes up 100% of my cpu time and sets itself as a "high" priority task, which means it makes my computer pretty much unresponsive. Bear in mind, this is a new Thinkpad T43 with a 1.86GHz processor and plenty of ram, and the thing comes to a grinding halt (even Ctrl+Alt+Del took 2 minutes to come up). I decide to leave it for 10 minutes and finally I see it pulling numbers off the phone, at the rate of 1 name per minute!

Finally, I'm sick of it, and I disconnect the phone, kill the program and clean it off my computer. What I wanna know is how a company can charge the amount they do for such a crappy piece of software. Futuredial never killed my computer like this.

So.. at the end, do you try FutureDial? How does it work?
I'm also having problem w/ Datapilot on A800 too...

Did you try updating it to 3.11.1 or 3.11.2? Sometimes you can skip a minor update, eg I had 3.11.1 and updated to 3.12.0 (skipped 3.11.2). This version works fine with my Samsung A800 and Sanyo 8300. But I agree with you, it's terrible that they designed the program updates that way. I first had v3.2.0 and also had to do tons of updates.

is there any way to open a file created by data pilot with all of my phone numbers without buying data pilot?

Why not try Bitpim?

I have used it to move my phone book from my 5500 to my 7400 to my 6225 and back to my 7400.

I have also used it to move phonebooks for friends who had their data cable.

I took a Sanyo 8200 phonebook and moved it to a Sammy A740 w/ no problems.

BUT:

You have to edit it as the phone books are not all set up the same.

Example:

Sanyo starts out w/

HOME
MOBILE
WORK, ect.

But Sammy starts out w/

MOBILE
HOME
WORK.

this is just an example, I don't remember how they really go, but I had to go through and change the numbers before I moved them onto the new phone.

It's very strange, but using Bitpim for A800, cannot see any media files...

Can you guys every try A800?
Other mobiles seems ok... but not for A800.

Hello, Missdiva:

Can you upload your image to your mobile using their Image edit tool?

It seems DP is doing something in vain while I try again and again ....
