Okay, so this weekend I was trying to copy over phone numbers from my gf's 7400 to her new A800 for her. My friend had an old copy of datapilot which he wasn't using, and since my snapsync version (which came with my sanyo cable) isn't A800-compatible, I tried to use datapilot, which says it is.
Anyhow, Datapilot requires version 3.11 to see the A800, I had version 3.1. No problem, I can update, since it is a legit copy and all, I thought this would be a quick process. Nope, turns out I have to go from 3.1 to 3.2, then 3.2 to 3.3, then 3.3 to 3.4 aaaaaaallll the way up to 3.81, then to 3.82, then all the way to 3.10.1. This took almost an hour of updating!
Then, when I got the 3.10.1, no matter how many times I ran the update for 3.11, it would go through successfully, but when I opened datapilot it would not have the A800 as an option in the phones listed. What the hell? So then for kicks I try to just get the numbers off the 7400, the program takes up 100% of my cpu time and sets itself as a "high" priority task, which means it makes my computer pretty much unresponsive. Bear in mind, this is a new Thinkpad T43 with a 1.86GHz processor and plenty of ram, and the thing comes to a grinding halt (even Ctrl+Alt+Del took 2 minutes to come up). I decide to leave it for 10 minutes and finally I see it pulling numbers off the phone, at the rate of 1 name per minute!
Finally, I'm sick of it, and I disconnect the phone, kill the program and clean it off my computer. What I wanna know is how a company can charge the amount they do for such a crappy piece of software. Futuredial never killed my computer like this.
