I am on the old $85 2000min plan with $10 for unlimited nights and weeknd. If I get 7pm nights and weekend option that I was offerd for free do I still need to pay original $10?
nope. had the same thing done on my plan (7pm added, $10 removed)

yes, you still have to pay the $10 for the nights and weekends. without the $10 nights and weekends, you have no nights to start at 7.

on my plan it is now configured that way, and i'm not eating through my day minutes at night...

I agree with what was posted earlier...you need the night and weekend codes on there, b/c I have seen a lot of those plans with no night and weekend mins...and if you use a lot of mins that is not an option that you want to have.

I have the old $85 plan, but never had to pay $10 for Unlim N/W. I am however paying $5 for the 7pm nights option now. (The $5 covers all 5 lines on my account)

I have this plan as well ... but I never got anything special on it. Not even vision on my free aap. I pay 10 for 6pm which is nothing special. Anyone can have it. the guy acted like he was doing me a favor letting me have that price.
