With a sprint phone you use ##DEBUG. What do you use with T-mobile phones.
I have never used a TMO phone that you could access the db levels.

I thought all cellphone carriers had secret menus hidden in phones to facilitate testing.
Well, they might, but I have never heard of them for T-Mobile. Maybe I am just not looking in the right place.

T-Mobile does not offer that feature.

Nope, no way to check This is just another way that T-Mobile lacks what the others have. Take my advice and switch to someone else if you want that feature. Sprint PCS is the best option!
Drongo!!!!
Yeah Sprint is great. I have no service in my home with Sprint. Would you suggest I switch back to them?

No, don't switch from Sprint! Get a wireless repeater and antenna combo. Sprint's service is getting better all of the time, so you won't have the problem for much longer. Where do you live at, What kind of home?
Russell
I don't need to switch from Sprint. I did that a year ago. Could not be happier either. I live in a 2 story partially brick house. I am not getting a damn repeater when T-Mobile works just fine. I am sorry that you had problems with them, but I have had 0 problems, I love being able to sim swap in a heartbeat, and my service is a bit cheaper than it was with Sprint.
Why can't some of you people just let others use whatever carrier they want to? I don't go to TMO forums and encourage people to switch to T-Mobile. I tell people to use what works best for them. It's really the smart thing to say.
I don't know why I should expect too many others to be so smart.

seriously...when a repeater costs more than the ETF to port from Sprint, why would anyone recommend a possible fix such as that

My comment is not bias, it is fact. CDMA is proven to be superior over GSM. WCDMA, which is the upgrade to GSM, is in fact based on CDMA's spread spectrum. Nextel's WiDEN upgrade is based on CDMA. So is China's TD-SCDMA
QUALCOMM gets royalties from every carrier, and Manufactures that uses WCDMA & TD-SCDMA.
I have used every national carrier, and many of the regional ones, and Sprint PCS out shins all of them! What carriers have you used? Do you read the spec's and reports on all of the carriers? I do! My comments are not ignorant, I back them up with facts. Where are your facts?

What CDMA and GSM carriers have you tried? How long? What phones have you used? You can't say CDMA does not work as well as GSM if you have limited use of it.
Yeah I read alot of reports and stats. I don't feel the need to flaunt that fact to make myself seem important. The fact is, and you seem to have a hard time understanding this, so I will make this as clear as I possibly can for you.
SPRINT PCS HAS NO SIGNAL IN MY HOUSE.
*edit* If you had read any of my other post you would see that I have access to try all carriers. 2 others that live in my house use Verizon. The service is decent. That said. Verizon does not have unlimited SMS and since I send and receive nearly 5,000 sms per month, that is not going to work for me. Cingular has that same SMS plan. T-Mobile is the best choice for me at this moment.
Again I ask, why can't you let people be happy with what they have?

You do realize that they're talking about actual reception in a given area? Some people just get better reception with a certain carrier......in a certain area. You can't make a blanket statement on actual reception. (The maps don't mean everything, all the time)

Hey Jack***! I was trying to be nice. Don't go disrespect me from the safety of behind your computer! If you would not say something to my face, then don't go off saying it online to me! again, I was trying to be helpful.

Sprint also gets NO SERVICE in my house. Nor does T-Mobile, which is why I have neither. Why can't you let people by happy with what they have? I have US Cellular and everything works perfect! I have unlimited data for $10 and unlimited SMS for $3, can't beat that even with retention.
I have used Sprint, Cingular, T-Mobile, Nextel, Alltel, Suncom and US Cellular (I may have missed a few)... the only one I have not tried is Verizon since they are not available in my area. I am also on my 76th phone, 95% of those phones have been high-end ones, I even had the S710a which was $400 with a contract. So again, why can't you just let people be happy? I am happy with CDMA but there will also be people where GSM is better, so just let them use GSM! I love my Koi, most people will say its overpriced ($400) and just overall crappy, but people take into consideration that I like what I like and they like what they like.
If you are still convinced that CDMA is better in every senario (sp?)... than I'm sure Matt would be more than happy to let you take a road trip to his house and let you see for yourself that his GSM phone gets service where his CDMA did not :bang:

I don't think Curtiss was trying to be rude, but saying that it does make sense for some people to have GSM since it works better for them... Seriously dude, calm down.

You did not answer my questions. What carriers and phones have you used? If you used a Nokia on Sprint's network, then bought a Motorola on T-Mobile's network, then yes, T-Mobile is going to work better in that situation. So if you have limited experiences with varous carriers, then you have no room to put down Sprint PCS!

Where did he put down Sprint? He stated that Sprint PCS Does not have coverage at his house, which is true. So by saying that Sprint doesn't work at his house, he is saying Sprint is bad?

If you read every post I have on here, I am always polite. Your Written-Tone was rude, so I responded to it. I just can't stand it when people start disrespecting me because they find courage from behind a computer. It is like when people drive down the street late night with their music playing way too loud. They think because they are in a car and not Face-To-Face, that it is okay to disrespect others. If you were not being rude, then I apologize. I am big on respect and believe in showing it. So I expect the some from others.

Some of the high end Nokia's being sold over seas. Not the crap sold in the US. Every review & report I have read, lists the US Nokia phones as having less then adequate RF signal purity and quality.

Lets use your own logic, have you owned the Nokia that Sprint gives away for free with a new contract? I have, and it has amazing RF, better than the 5600 when I had them side by side doing a DB reading.

I doubt that. Then if you have, list them. I am only commenting because you are saying CDMA is not any good. But I keep asking you to back up that comment. I am telling you the facts, but you are not telling me what phones you have used, on what carriers networks. You have to justify your choices to me, if you are going to put CDMA and or Sprint down. How long ago did you use their service, what phones did you use? If you only used one phone with Sprint years ago, then you have no room to talk.
I am calling you out, because you don't seem to have any room to talk. I hate it when people put sprint down, but don't have enough experiences to do so. Most of the people I have called out on here, have only used one, or two carriers. That is hardly enough to make a judgement on any one carrier. I have the experience, so I can safely defend CDMA & Sprint. So until you tell me something more, I will just look at you as a two carrier customers.
I will defend Sprint to the Death!

So.... what does this have to do with Sprint not working @ his house?
Different phones have different signal purity levels. If someone used a Nokia on Sprint's Network, then the service would not work well as it would with a better phone. So someone might think it is Sprint's fault that their service is not working well, but it is the phone, not Sprint.
I already covered this.
I will defend Sprint to the Death!
No one is putting Sprint down. What they are saying (which you seem to incapable of understanding) is that Sprint is not the best for everyone.
What phones did I/have I use for Sprint.
Okay.
Qualcomm 2700
Samsung 3500
Samsung 8500
Kyocera 2345
Samsung a460
Samsung n400
Samsung a500
Sanyo 8100
Samsung a620
Samsung a600
Toshiba 4050
Sanyo 4500
Samsung a680
When I moved into my new house there was no Sprint signal. I switched to a carrier who did have a signal in my house.
Since that time I have used various Samsungs, LG's, and Sanyos. Still no signal.
Does that mean I dislike Sprint. Actually, no. The fact of the matter is. I am not going to (nor should anyone) stay with a carrier who does not have a good signal in the place that they use their phone the most. Why you can't understand that is beyond me.
Defend Sprint to the death?? Yeah that is not biased whatsoever. Your username is biased, your signature is biased, and your post are biased. Frankly, I don't see what give you the right to come into a thread and talk down to others as if you have been to every region in this country and can confirm what RF is. Untill you do that I would suggest you not tell the rest of what we should do.

I am asking him when did he use Sprint, and with what phones? He might have gotten poor service in his house because of the phone he was using at that time. And if he used Sprint years ago, then this whole topic would not count. You can't say Sprint has poor service if you only used one or two phones with them, and if those phones were the low end free phones offered by Sprint.
I am just asking what phones and when were they used? It is not fair to put Sprint's service down if you did not use it correctly.

My apologies to the OP, harris...
This thread has been back and forth.....and is going nowhere....FAST.
The fact is, technology doesn't matter.......if a carrier just can't provide the service WHERE YOU NEED IT....you need a different carrier. Sometimes it's Sprint that does the job.....other times, it's OTHER CARRIERS and maybe even....GSM! .
Thread....Done| :wavey:
