I know Sprint has all the sites to go to and enter your number and you get a text message with a link to the download. Question is, can you get ringers/wall paper, pics from sites like those with cingular or verizon?

yes you can do that, but GSM phones can also grab most jpegs straight from the net using their phones (they don't need descriptors except for maybe jar files(java programs)) this in for midis and maybe other stuff too. but, with GSM you have to use GPRS which can cost alot of cash.
