View Full Version : MM 5600 Picture Quality Issues

I am attaching a picture I took yesterday from my MM5600 phone, taken in the daylight from Steelers training camp. Every picture I take is fuzzy like this. Is there a setting I can change, or am I stuck with this type of quality? I love the 5600 phone, but the 8200 took much better pictures IMHO. Any comments?

Check Your Macro Switch You May Have Moved It

yeah, it does look like it's on. the pictures appear like that when you're too far from your target.

What exactly is that "macro switch"? I took a guess it was the slide beside the camera lens on the front of my camera phone. I just snapped this picture, and it seems to have worked. Thanks everyone. :headbang2 Curious about the purpose of the switch though.

PS--The first picture was Bill Cowher autographing my daughter's Steelers shirt.

Macro is a mode for very up-close pictures... as in 3-6" away from the "target."

Used For Very Close Up Pictures

Ok, thanks to both for the explanation. I really don't know why I would need to take a pic. 3 to 6 inches away from the target, but will definitely keep that in mind. Does this affect quality of camcorder pics from the phone too?

You also have to be mindful of smudges on the lens. I've found that it does make a difference whether or not the camera lens is clean.

Well, it appears the macro switch was the culprit here. I also cleaned the lens and took a pic today of my new Dodge truck. My 94 Jeep GC finally bit the dust last week. Here's the picture, look how much clearer it is now with the macro switch set in the correct position!

Thanks again everyone.

^that won't work either. You know the 5600 can't take photos inside.

You can use the macro function on the 5600 to take pictures of price tags when you shop.

The macro is used to take close up detail pictures. Like the ESN of a phone. Pictures of flowers, etc....
