hey yall whts up, this could be a newbie question so if it is, sorry!

i came on here before and downloaded those programs to make ringers like for the 8100. but of course they are very low quality.

i notice that the sprint ringers that you buy are way better quality than ones you can download like from 3g for free, as well as better than the ones you make with QVC voice or whatever.

so my question is, how can i make high quality custom ringers that sound as good as the sprint purchasable ringers? is it even possible? if it is, is there a walkthrough like there was for making the old ringers?? if not what programs do i need to download? any help is appreciated!

Well heres the easiest way I know: go to a nextel ringer download site (ex: pimptel.com) and download the ringer. Open it into itunes and convert it to aac and then use focus on this site to send it to your phone. Or if you know how: take a song in mp3 format and take the clip from the song u want and save it. Then just load it in itunes and follow through the same way you would if you got it from one of those sites. They are really good quality as long as the mp3 song is good

im still kind of confused though.. i know how to edit the wma/mp3 file to get the clip i want and everything, but i dont even have itunes and dont know what to do with it after i get it. can the new GCD thing on this site make the high quality ringers?

still a little confused with your instructions but thatnks for the reply bro

wait im having trouble with the DB poweramp program.

the dropdown doesnt give me the option to convert to mp4, it says m4a.

so then when i try to run it it doesnt have the codec for m4a, it has the codec for mp4...

any help there? is there a codec for m4a and will an m4a convert the same as an mp4? thanks for your help!

ok it says that the m4a and mp3 codecs are the same but every time i run the converter i get an error and it says "The CODEC required to compress 'C:\Converted Music\Documents and Settings\ringram\Desktop\3rd Degree - Throwed as possible (0m 40s).m4a' could not be opened.
Unable to run encoder 'C:\Program Files\Illustrate\dBpowerAMP\Compression\m4a (FAAC CLI)\faac.exe'"

Just added create your own ringtone to their file locker section.
You can create your own AAC, QCP ringer from either a mp3 or wav file.

1) Open Nero Wave Editor
2) Locate audio file to edit
-->(or u can drag & drop into the editor area from having searched & located it in MediaMonkey player for example - while dragging audio track in mediamonkey, hold alt & press Tab as many times as needed to get to the wave editor & drop it in the space)
3) Highlight the sections of audio u dont want & press ctrl+del to remove
4) A good ringtone size is 30 sec or less (less for space)
5) FYI u might want to use save as right away or copy/paste into a new editor area (ctrl+n) so as not to overwrite the original by accident
6) Not really necessary, but Nero 7 has a bass line remover - To apply click in the editor area and
-->(a) press ctrl+a
-->(b) choose Enhancement/Filter Toolbox
-->(c) presets dropdown, select "remove 50Hz buzz"

7)To Raise volume, make sure the desired audio is still selected, choose Volume/Volume Change
-->(fyi 1: I would not go higher than 3db)
-->(fyi 2: not necessary at all for 97% of my ringers for Sanyo 8300 - just make sure they are normalized)

8)Then save as
-->(a) select File Type as Nero Digital Audio (HE-AAC) (*.mp4)
-->(b) under options (at lower left), select Constant Bit Rate of 24 Kbit/s & select Enable PNS - Now Press OK

9) Now type a filename & type the extension .m4a
(or u can save it as is [with .mp4] & manually change it later)

23 sec @ 24 kbps ~ 74 kb
23 sec @ 28 kbps ~ 86 kb
23 sec @ 32 kbps ~ 100 kb

They all sound pretty much the same - hard rock like Disturbed has alot of excess noise & will not sound as good regardless...we're not usin' full range speakers here people.
