You'll have to purchase a USB Data Cable along with a software such as Future Dial Suites. You can get both at any Radio Shack stores.

Don't forget, you can still use the Vision service even when you dont have a vision plan. You will have to pay the per kilobite rate in order to transfer the data. Just tell your pops that you will float him 5 bucks for the month to cover any data tranfer costs until you can get the ringtones that you want on your phone. What is it like 0.01 cents per kb?...It might be an easier way to go with less hassle and cheaper than buying a data cable. Just hit up one of the free ringtone sites like DBringers or 3gforfree from your phones browser.

You better hope the ringtone is small. A decent qcp ringtone is about 75kb thats 75 cents per ringtone. If you upload high quality AAC ringtones at 400-600kb, thats $4-$6 for a ringtone.

any luck with 8300 and data cables yet? I am new to this #777 and code stuff. DO you need to clear something after transfering songs with bitpim?

AFAIK data cables only allow midi ringtones. #777 is when you use your phone as a modem which the 8300 doesnt support.

That is what I am finding. The only way to transfer ringtone files (other than midi, and small) is to use D-D-N or Focus. The problem with these is you have to pay extra airtime to your service providor (or pay extra for Vision).
I cannot believe, after paying 70$ for software, that the only option is midi. And the software cannot be returned because it has been opened. It would be nice if they had a disclamer that said only MIdi files in stead of bragging that you could d/l ringtones. :( Unless you are good at composing music, what good is midi?

There are folks out there that sell Ringtones on a CD....all are Midi files. Right now my problem is trying to get my phone to except the Midi file. There are 4 different versions of Midi and some phones don't except certain ones. You would think that the Midi file would have the numbered extension so users would know which format is being used.
