Hi all,

I just used focus uploader to transfer a pic sized at 176x220 to my new A880. After it downloads I set it as screensaver but it does not take up the whole screen. Has anywone come across this problem and may know how to fix it? Maybe I have to set it at a different screen size. Please help. Thank you in advance.

C'mon people...someone has to know if I'm doing anything wrong.

Thanks.

Honestly, I think the 880 just does that. No matter what the picture will not go full size. The only time it goes full screen is if you take a picture with your phone and assign it to your screensaver. I don't reccomend downloading screensavers because no one so far hasn't found a way to make it full screen.

^ Agree with Cat...
I even made a call regarding this issue; one told me to turn the phone off, take the battery out (haha), and redownload, overwriting the original screensaver. Another rep told me it was normal (of course she didn't own the phone, but played with a sample).

So, until they come up with a solution (if there is one) we have to deal with it :(

Sorry!

Thanks for all the replies.

You guys help me come to a decision. I'm returning my phone in exchange for the sanyo 8300. It seems silly but I do enjoy making wallpapers for my phones and this is just unacceptable.

Thanks again.

Wow, quick decision there.... I bet you'll miss your A880! I've done the Sanyo thing and I like this phone much more... even with the screensaver deal :P

I agree that the A880 is a much better phone. I know because I had them both. I returned my 8300 because of the call quality..didn't sound as clear as I wanted too and the reception wasn't as good but I was able to see my Michael Turner drawings in all its full glory (full screen).

Now with the Samsung, I get a great working phone with this horrible screensaver thing. Like I said it does sound drastic but its really irritating.

Besides, I do forget what a phone is really used for.

I'm wondering if anyone Knows if this is really a problem.

I'll elaborate a bit based on my call with a rep. Basically, the lady picked up one of their sample phones while I was on the line and played with it for a while. I asked her to compare the default screensavers with a downloaded one. I told her specifically to look at the spaces above and/or below the downloaded screensavers, and notice the absence of the spaces on defaults and in-camera pictures.

I proceeded to let her know that from the customers point-of-view that the white spaces in comparison make it look like something is wrong; especially once we get used to the defaults filling the entire screen. She repeatedly told me that's how it's supposed to be. Heck, how does she know? She only picked up the sample phone but does not own it... LOL

Oh well, still love this phone. It doesn't look too bad using downloaded but ruins the full screen effect. :(

Best thing I figured out to resolve the white space issue is to take your sized wallpaper and upload it to your Sprint picture album from your computer. Then log into your albums from your phone and save the pic to your phone.....works great! :bling:

Size your wallpaper to the screen size of the 880 (which I forgot what it is excactly) and save it to your desktop. Then log into your Sprint picture accountand veiw albums.
Under options on the right of the screen you will see "add pictures from pc" click on it. Drag your picture from your desktop ont the square that says "drag & drop" choose the album you want on the right and hit upload. After its done you will see that pic in your albums. Veiw that album from your phone and then just save it to phone. Then you can set it as your wallpaper with no white showing.

Glad it worked for ya. I had the 880 for two weeks and this was the only way I found to get it to work. Makes a big difference having your own wallpaper on it displayed right.

OK, I am tired of still wallpaper though. I want to mput some cool animations on mine, but to do so I will have to sacrafice the image with that taky white space at the bottom.
As clever of an idea as using the sprint upload tool is (your the man RattDawg  ), it only lets you upload .jpeg files.

Unless you all haven't noticed, this baby support regular everyday (FAST) .GIF files!! No more annoying .pmd conversions to only see you animaton move about every 2-3 seconds....blah.

But back to the problem at hand, if you want to some cool animations on your phone, you got deal with tha tacky image glitch.

Cross your fingers that maybe this will be fixed in a firmware update!! Unlikely, but from what I have seen, alot of people are annoyed by it.

Maybe this isnt an option for all of you but my LCD is very high resolution and bright and since I don't have picture mail I just take a pic of the image on my computer LCD and just use that image. :tu:
