I just got my account flagged for the PRL update (10029). After it said the update was complete I pressed OK on my phone and it said "Programming unsuccessful". On my second phone I pressed End after it said it was complete and I got the same message.

I then called back and asked for the accounts to be flagged again. The rep did that and also said I could dial *PRL for the update, which does not work. However, upon being completed on both phones I still got the unsuccessful message.

Can others with the 880 verify what message they get on their display after pressing End once they have been told the update is complete?

I called Technical Support and the lady thought it could be that 880s are misreporting the successful installation of the PRL update, especially since both of my phone lists the PRL as 10029. However, she flagged the account and after the update it still stated Programming unsuccessful.

I just talked to more techs. One told me it is a known issue and to ignore it. Another tech said it should not say it was successful. They flagged my account again, but still at completion it said unsuccessful. There has to be other 880 users tyring the PRL update?

I think mine was tryin to do a PRL update yesterday by itself because i pressed the END button and all of a sudden its doing an update. I don't think it was successful either because I just checked my PRL and it still says 10027.

My PRL did change to 10029, but my phone said it was not successful. Sounds like you just need to have it re-flagged? Do you have an 880?

Well, if you would please, once you get your account flagged to try the PRL update again, let me know what the phone reports once the system tells your the PRL update is complete and you press End.

When I called *2, the lady didn't know if she could flag it. She was mentioning the A880 and was surprised at how new the phone was and didn't find anything in her (books?) about it so she forwarded me to tech support. I had company arrive so I couldn't wait.

I'm going to try tomorrow, but I'm not sure how much I need this PRL update? Enlighten me :)

I don't have the details of the PRL so I can't enlighten you about it. :(

It should add more potential service by allowing the phone to recognize other roaming carriers.

My 880's PRL says 10029...everyone here has either 10027 or 10029....I'm confused now. How do I set up a PRL update and what does it change?

PRL is perferred roaming list. To get it, call *2 and tell the rep that you want your account flagged for a prl update. Don't give them any PRL numbers, as this will only serve to confuse the rep. Just say "I'd like my account flagged for a PRL update". If the idiotic rep (they all are) can't figure out what you mean, call back untill you get someone that does.

You could also try going to a Sprint store and having the update done.

If you performed the PRL update yourself by *2, did you notice if the phone displayed Programming unsuccessful after you were told the PRL update was completed and your pressed End?

PRL 10029 is the newest, but with the 880s I have used so far the phone is stating Programming unsuccessful even though the PRL does appear to be updated.
