QUOTED from 'internetnews.com'

Sprint Nextel officials will also start planning on moving Nextel's iDEN network over to CDMA (define) while they start marketing Motorola (Quote, Chart) dual-mode phones that use Nextel's push-to-talk service on Sprint CDMA-based phones.

who knows when this will happen, hopefully sooner rather than later

More like later rather then sooner. A beta won't be ready until Q2 of 2006 from what I've read. It's a long way away so it could be sooner than that.

What do you think will happen in areas that have Nextel IDEN Coverage, but CDMA Sprint Coverage is "roaming"? Will Sprint convert the Nextel IDEN tower in the area to CDMA/IDEN?

So I got a pretty firm (lol) confirmation that Sprint will be keeping the IDEN network for it's dispatch service and that the first dual-mode phone will be out in 2006.
Any more news anyone?
