I was roaming on Pioneer’s CDMA system (sid 324) in Northwest Oklahoma (Kingfisher, Blaine, Custer & Dewey counties) and while on their network, I was able to receive text messages! Unfortunately I was unable to send messages or use Vision. Hopefully that will be possible in the near future with the affiliate agreement announced a few months ago between Pioneer and Sprint PCS.

...you neglected to say you were "digitally" roaming...the roaming agreement must allow for it...
When we say it isn't possible, we refer to analog roaming...

I was digital roaming in New Mexico a few weeks ago and couldn't send or recieve... when I came over the mountain into Sprint coverage my phone was beeping with new messages for a few minutes straight.
Maybe the fact that you can recieve is a sign the agreement is coming close to being completely set up. If I remember correctly, Sprint customers were supposed to have Vision access all over the Pioneer network. Let's hope it happens, rural OK Sprint coverage is terrible. Cingular is killing Sprint everywhere except the metro areas.

not always true...i'm in colorado for the summer with my gf and she has a razr....she gets service about 50% of the time... while i get it at least 80%..otherwise i can roam...she can't even roam. some networks allow sms while roaming digitally, some do not. depends on their agreement with sprint
