So, I got my 5500 replaced with an 8300 last week and I got my data cable yesterday. Got the drivers installed, and much to my dismay, no #777!!! Anyone have any workarounds for this? Is there anything I can do to use my cell phone w/vision as a modem for my laptop? I'm leaving for California on Saturday and I REALLY need to get this sorted out - PLEASE, HELP!

As far as it seems.......all new Sanyos have #777 disabled.

The LGs and Samsungs......they're alright.

I just received my new 8300 -- also a replacement for a (broken) 5500 -- and I am also unable to use the phone as modem. An examination of the log of the attempted login (viewable under Control Panel / Phone and Modem Options / SANYO USB Phone / Diagnostics / View Log) shows that when the computer sends the dialing request -- ATDT#777<cr> -- the response is <cr><lf>NO CARRIER<cr><lf>

Is there any hope of getting the 8300 to work as a modem? Perhaps is there some parameter that can be accessed through a ## code on the phone keyboard that will enable modem use?
