I want to disable text messaging on my LG PM-325. I have no need to receive text messages, and I get charged $0.10 every time I receive a text message that I didn't ask for. I've called Sprint PCS and the retarded CS reps are completely useless. There must be a way to get rid of text messaging capabilities on my plan or phone. Anyone have any ideas?

to disable text messaging, call CS and ask the rep to remove the IP code(this enables the phone to access the internet and text msgns.). if this is remove you will not be able to send or receive text message ever.

Removing IP basic will not block text for the PM-325. The LG PM-325 is a SMS phone. IP basic ( which provides internet access to a 3G phone) , would prevent text messaging for a phone that is known as a shortmail phone( as in the sanyo 8100 for example; which is a shortmail device). call into sprint and ask for them to block 2way sms feature on your device. If the rep knows what he is doing he would use a certain program to change a couple sms fields to block sms incoming and outgoing or issue a Ticket to have a it done by a tech in the trouble managment department. When it is blocked you'll receive an error message each time you attempt to send a message. People will still be able to send a message and they'll think it will go through but it'll be blocked in sprints network. Bad thing is you'll still get billed .10 per a message if the message that was sent to you is coming from someone outside of the sprint network. As long as a customer service rep or tech. logs the blocking of sms in your customer notes sprint should be able provide any credits upon you calling in about messaging charges after it has been blocked. also if you make certain plan changes it'll revert the blocking of sms back to allowing the messages to go through. Hope this helps.

As I've posted before, there is technically NO WAY they should be allowed to bill for incoming texts...

Incoming Calls... yes -- We have caller ID and the OPTION to answer the call.

Incoming SMSes... NO -- You're billed whether or not you want it...

Europe does it right -- Everything incoming is free, only the sender pays.

That last stement is incorrect. Even if the SMS is blocked in the network and it comes from someone outside of sprint your billed. so regaurdless if you get the message to your phone or you and it comes from outside of sprint's network your billed.,

Kwire is correct... You sir, are incorrect. Sprint bills for incoming whether or not you open the message -- its billed on delivery.

as far as i know there was an issue that when you blocked sms text that you didnt recieve it and got billed for it anyways...sprint was supposed to be doing an upgrade to fix this...as far as blocking text...go to sprintpcs.com, login, go to my online tools, go to text messaging, go to settings and preferences, and there are blocking options from there. if that doesnt work sprint does have the ability to block incoming text on the hlr's.

Actually, I think you can disable msgs sent to your phone from the sprintpcs.com website. I'm not sure if ALL types can be blocked, but check it out and see if it works for you.

+ Log on to sprintpcs.com

+ Click "My Online Tools"

+ Click "Text Messaging"

+ Click "Settings and Preferences"

On that page..there are several options you can change regarding text messages..which ones to receieve, how you want them displayed, etc.

Good luck. :)
