my neighbor is a cellular tester for motorola and has received the specifications of the cdma razr for the US. Verizon uses BREW technology, while sprint uses JAVA. the US cdma razr at this point only has JAVA technology loaded onto it... :fingers: hopefully sprint will actually get a cool new phone!

Ehhh... I'm 99% sure the RAZR is for Verizon.

well unless they begin loading BREW onto the razr then i don't see how...could be wrong though. But the cdma razr that comes here first WILL have JAVA...we might get lucky

Verizon is definitely gearing to get it, it's just in testing as we know. The question is will Sprint get it too, and if true, this bodes well.

yeah well you could probably buy a ketchup bottle that claims to work on verizon if you wanted to on ebay...i don't really think that's a reliable source. do any of the other cdma carriers (US Cellular, i don't know any others) use JAVA? if not then sprint is definitely getting it, just don't know when

These ebay auctions for not-yet-released phones are sketchy at best. The sellers gamble on the date of a phone's release, get people to pony up a ton of cash to be the first on the block to have the phone. The buyer pays his ridiculous price and the day the phone goes on sale at the Verizon store, the seller goes and buys one at the regular price, ships it to the buyer and pockets the difference. It goes bad for everyone if there is a major delay in the release of a phone. The best advice is to avoid these auctions at all costs. It is not worth the BS.

I believe the auctions mentioned before, are referring to this one...
http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Motorola-CDMA-RAZR-V3-for-Verizon-E815-V710-V265_W0QQitemZ5795556232QQcategoryZ64355QQssPageNa meZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It is an early production model, but is not completely compatable with the Data side of things.

I don't see why the RAZR is so great anyways. My buddy has one (it seems like EVERYBODY has one these days) and the UI's kinda slow and the screens are okay, not great.

It's the new Startac....all of the little worker bees want to have one to fit in. Give me the e815 over the Razr anyday. That is a great phone.

Exactly, I've seen the e815, my only real gripe about it is the lack of analog, but I'd prefer my A800 over it anyday. The screen's much better, the UI's much MUCH cooler, and the reception is probably better.

The only other carriers I know for sure use Java are Cingular and Nextel. I know Alltel, Verizon Wireless, US Cellular, and (I think) Suncom and NTelos are all Brew. Anyone know about T-Mobile? Are there any downloadables other than ringtones on T-Mo anyway?

The V3c will basically be an E815 in a Razr's casing (with the addition of that horrid Verizon UI and perhaps minus the Skins). It won't have sluggish menus, infact there's nothing from the GSM Razr that you should be using to gauge the CDMA Razr. Everything from the keypad to the screens to the hinge has been changed in some form.

Sprint could possibly get one, but there's no question that Verizon is getting it and will release their version first.

Now that's a good reason. :haha:

But at least there would be a $150 Instant Rebate for new customers or existing....

Edit: I still wouldn't buy it though... maybe i can manage to get it for free on my employee plan.... hmmmmm

I still don't understand the hype over the RAZR. When it came out it was like the phone every one was talking about. It's an old phone an I don't really care for how it looks. I actually can't stand them. My friend at work has a Cingular RAZR and it's no big deal. Now if you want to impress the newbies with a phone, play a movie on a Treo 650 or a Nintendo game with NesEm on the Treo and they'll drool every time.

Razr? Does anyone here, know anyone else that has enjoyed the Razr? No one I know! It Cost way too much for a multimedia phone! Unless the new Razr comes with an OS, then I will pass. I will wait for a Sprint Moto Smart-Device.
