I've always been curious on how fast SPCS Vision is. I get conflicting answers. Some say it caps at 144k. WinXP sometimes reports at 28.8. Normally at 115k. I've seen reports of 230k. I believe those are the data connection speed between the phone and the computer but not necessarily the speed between the phone and the internet.
When I used to tether with my 5300 a couple of years ago, XP showed connecting at 115kbps. IE reported downloading speed of 20-21KB/S. Which means it cruises aroung 175kbps. Obviously IE is wrong about that. I used to use a program call DUMeter. It showed a sustained rate of 16.5KBps. and peak rate of 19KBps. This seems more accurate as 16.5KBX8=132kb. Few months ago, the 5300 was showing connection rate of 28.8. www.dslreports.com showed 56kbps down, 96kbps up. Since Sprint cancelled my 3rd party employee plan last week, I cancelled my Vision on the 5300 so I couldnt test it anymore. Besides I got a 5600 and the vision is A LOT faster than the 5300.
The 5600 has no DUN ablity and I really want to know just how fast the 5600 is. I did a google search for "wap dslreports" and found http://www.dslreports.com/mspeed I did a few test runs at 600k size and got the following result. Just how accurate is this? If this is somewhat accurate then screw EV-DO I can live with this.
