Anyone know if there's any real difference in this 7400 extended battery from DayDeal (http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?productid=7857&cat=1332&page=1) and the ones you buy at the sprint store. from sprint they're like $60, so this one seems really cheap. but i don't wanna buy it if its gonna be crappy. Anyone have any thoughts or expericances?
thanks

I would be VERY wary of this battery... not for performance reasons, but for safety alone.
The label immediately raises my "shady" alarm. It makes no mention of the manufacturer or even the vendor. It appears to be a label that is simply "stuck" on the battery itself. Most reputable aftermarket battery vendors will imprint their logo and the usual disclaimers in a more professional manner.
I would contact the seller for the vendor and manufacturer name. Also, ask if the aforementioned are ISO 9000 certified. Be cautious if they are unable to provide this info on the fly. If they are unable to provide the battery vendor name, be extremely afraid. If they claim that they do not know, they are lying. What company doesn't know who was cut a check? If they seem extremely knowledgeable, ask who the cell manufacturer might be and whether it was constructed in China or Japan (reputable cell brands include Sanyo, LG, and Maxell). Post up the results if possible.
While going the cheaper route is tempting, please keep in mind that the components being bought contain sensitive protection circuitry and battery acid that has the tendency to explode when exposed to certain conditions. If these batteries are being slapped together at the cheapest possible cost, some corners might be cut. The carriers charge so much because they rigorously test their sourced batteries/chargers and assume a certain amount of liability for any malfunction. With this battery, you have no idea who to blame if things go very very wrong.
Yeah, this post was probably overkill - sorry about that :) I have a decent amount of professional experience when it comes to lithium-ion batteries, so if you have any questions regarding any response from this seller, post em up and I will do my best to help.
EDIT: I just noticed your sig, and wanted to let you know that your site was extremely helpful to me a week ago. Thanks!

Just for the hell of it, I contacted the seller with the following email. Let's see what they say...
Regarding the following item:

Can you provide me with the name of the vendor who sold you this battery, and if possible, the manufacturer? Also, I am curious if the aforementioned companies are ISO certified, and if you can provide the cell component manufacturer and country of origin. Also, can you define the IC component used?
If you can provide any or all of this information, that would help push my purchasing decision to fruition.
Thank you!
Meh, just bored.

That's just a generic extended battery. I dont think you'll be able to find the manufacturer of a generic battery. They all say what the battery is made for, voltage, amerage, country of the cells' origin, and general cautions of rechargable batteries. Almost all batteries on ebay are like that. I think the most important spec for extended battery is the voltage and amperage. OEM batteries for Sanyos are 3.7V A lot of the generic batteries are rated at 3.6V. I dont know about the 7400 but the 5600 OEM extended battery is rated at 1650mah. Generic extended battery is rated at 1400mah.
