Remember this - Appearing with Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa and other baseball stars before a congressional committee on March 17, Palmeiro made an opening statement in which he said: "Let me start by telling you this: I have never used steroids. Period. I don't know how to say it any more clearly than that. Never."
Man if this is true, Palmeiro lied about using steroids. He and any other steriod user need to have a * by there stats or even not be allowed to have there stats count. :indiff:

This is sad news. I thought he was one of the truly "good guys."

If you're caught using steriods, ban them for life. It will stop it. All they get is a slap on the wrist.

Palmero still a great baseball player. Just cause he used steroids doesn't make him a bad player or person. What people don't understand is using steroids doesn't make you a great player. If you take your average high school, college or minor league player and pump them full of the best juice it still wont make them a superstar. A player has to be naturally gifted. The steroids just give an edge to a already amazing player. Steroids or no steroids he belongs in the Hall of Fame.

I'm not sure if Palmero shoud be allowed to be in the Hall of Fame. Anybody that tests positive for steroids is a cheater in my book. I'm not sure what is worse a player using steroids or a player/manager betting on baseball. Now since Palmero tested positive we have no idea if Canseco was telling the truth about how he said he injected steroids into Palmero back when they played together. Are there any players that have tested posistive for steroids in the Hall of Fame? I do think Canseco brought steroids into the game. Know one said Palmero is bad person. Maybe he has health issues and he thought that he couldn't get the 3,000 hits without taking steroids? I'm wondering when he spoke infront of the congressional committee if he was acting when he pointed his finger and said "I have never taken steroids period". Jason Giambi and Canseco are man enough to admit that they used steroids. Bonds and some of these other players say they had no idea that they were taking steroids. I say Bullsh@t they no there taking ROIDS.
Say What?

I don't disagree -- he belongs in the Hall of Fame. But the players have known that
baseball was cracking down on it for several years. I like to think the most upstanding players would have given it up then. And when questioned about it by Congress, be able to say, "Yes, I did use them. But I don't any more." Oh well. I guess I'm too idealistic and I know that I have no idea what it is like for these guys.
He's a cheater and a bold face liar (to the congress  ) either way. NO HALL OF FAME FOR HIM!!!

It was much harder for Giambi since he still plays the game opposed to Canseco. Now that Giambi is off the juice he is still nasty, 14 HRs in July.

I would agree that if a player is using steroids, no HOF... If we could ever really know whether or not he did it intentionally, which he says he didn't, that would make a difference. But we will never really know.
Yeah, you have to be a gifted player in order to the the ball. Using steroids DOES make you a BAD player... it makes you a cheater. While most (I hope) play the game to the best of their God given ability and with integrity, others like Raffy are cheating to get that little bit more to be better.
And Barry Bonds also denies knowingly taking steroids, but he knows now that he did take them. If he has any respect for the game and the records he is about to break, he should retire now because he did not earn those records (assuming he gets them).

People make mistakes, so no, taking steriods doesn't make you a bad person. Continuing to lie about taking steriods, in a congretional hearing under oath, and continuing to take steriods, still doesn't really make you a BAD person, but it sure as hell should garuntee that your name is never anywhere near the hall of fame of baseball.

How do you know he`s not taking steroids now? I don`t care what any athlete does after they test positive for steroids. They will always be cheaters in my eyes.

That is so true. They cheated. They don't deserve any reward or respect in baseball.

Back a fews years ago I enjoyed whatching Sosa and McGwire battled for home runs. We don't know if McGwire was using roids but I think he was and if he wasn't he was taking a boat load of supplements which I guees is ok. Sosa probally was on roids or using his corked bat. I don't like baseball as much as I used to because of Steroids. High school/college athletes look up to professional athletes and they'll do what ever it takes to become a professional athlete. It's sad because I think were going to see a lot more health issues in time with athletes not just because of using steroids but taking to many supplements. There aren't a lot of long term studies done on the supplements that athletes are currentlly taking.

I hope you don't actually believe that the MLB really wants to clean up the league and test it's players. Why do you think they've looked the other way for so many years?

Prolly due to the fact Canseco didnt go mainstream with info yet, congressional hearings, the media taking such an interest.........no reason to crack down

giambi could be on human growth hormone and MLB wouldn't know. in other words, don't think he's all high, mighty and doing this naturally

I was kiding about Giambi using steroids now but I wonder how good the testing is. I would be very surprised if Giambi is using anything since what he's been through already health wise. Whatever he's doing or taking is working because he added 2 more home runs against my Tribe toinght. :irked: I guess he's finally earning his millions.
