View Full Version : Taking over a plan...

Is it possible for someone to take over a plan? Let me elaborate... I have moved to an area with marginal reception and would like for someone to take over my old 2000 min/$85 month plan. If anyone knows if this is possible, and/or is interested, either reply or PM me.

Thanks.

Jesse

I think it's called transfer of liability.

yes, it is called a transfer of liability. you and the party interested would go into a sprint pcs store to fill out the paperwork and everything would be transferred into the other party's name (excluding any outstanding balance). the new party would become responsible for the plan, contract and charges starting THE DAY of the transfer, any unbilled usage accumulated before the transfer will be billed to you as a final invoice along with any credits for unused service.

This is very good. However, the account I'm looking to potentially transfer has a 25% corporate discount. Would the discount also be transfered?

It's 2000 anytime minutes on 2 lines, nights and weekend at 7 PM, unlimited Vision on both lines, unlimited roaming (Expanded America) on both lines, unlimited text (SMS) and picture mail messaging on both lines, and readylink on one line.

I usually pay about $85/month, give or take a few dollars.

Thanks.

Jesse

the discount might not transfer if the rep asks the right questions and the person accepting the plan does not work at the same company as you...on the other hand, there is a shot it might slip through the cracks...I would go in expecting the worst in terms of the discount transfer, and just hope for the best...I would definitely NOT bring the subject up, though, because the discount should not technically transfer to somebody that does not work at your company...

So... anyone interested in this plan? I live just outside of Philadelphia, so we could coordinate somewhere around here. Also, both lines have their contract up in 11/2005. I would probably want some $$ in return, as Sprint is willing to let me get out of the contract without the ETF in case I can't find someone to transfer to.

why would anyone pay you for taking on your contract- no ETF or not?

From what I understand, this is a very desirable plan to have, for the amount of minutes/features offered at this price point ($85). Neither SprintPCS nor any other provider offers this price point for two lines of service. Also, I'm not asking for much... just a convenience charge.

How about $50? You'll save a lot more in the longrun. Just think... 2000 national anytime minutes shared across two lines, nights & weekend begining at 7 PM, unlimited Vision on both lines, unlimited text messaging and picturemail on both lines, expanded america coverage so that roaming is free, and readylink on the primary line. Nothing beats that at only $85/month? Not only that, but if you want to take this plan over from me, your contract will end in November of THIS YEAR! You could use the leverage to get additional discounts, free stuff, etc... PM me or message back if you're interested. I live just outside of Philadelphia, and I'd be willing to drive to a Sprint store between you and me, as long as it's reasonable.

if Sprint is willing to let you out of your contract then you might as well do that. I'm not sure how many people would be willing to pay for a plan, no matter how good it is.

You may be correct, as no one has really expressed interest. Well, in case someone does see this and changes their mind, I'm not canceling until my current billing cycle ends, which is mid-August, so you have some time to think about it. Just trying to do someone a favor since I know how difficult these plans are to come by these days.

What phones do you have on the accounts? You might be able to get something by selling the phones in the Trading Post (if nobody takes over your plan).

Also, could you do that transfer between two people at different Sprint stores. Couldn't they be at different Sprint Stores at the same time and fax the info between the stores?

Wouldn't they run credit checks, too?

Yes they run credit checks i just asked today

Question: can we do this now but request the transfer not begin until say , August 1st? Do all the paperwork but date it for a future date?

My guess is that they'd probably try to accomodate both customers, since it would mean retaining a customer. Remember, they already sent me an e-mail stating that they would not charge me an ETF on both lines, so I'm sure they would be happy not to lose out on $300. I'm not selling the phones because they are both still within their return period, so I will just be returning them to the store.
