I saw a commercial on TV where this guy is trying bunch of ladies shoes, high heels. Then he took a picture of the shoes and out comes the chirp. Then the scene cuts to his pregnant wife sitting at home playing with her phone. Then it cuts to a birdseye view and the picture of him trying on the shoes shows up on her phone. Then the commercial said "Push to View new from Motorola" then the commercial ends!!?! *** it doesnt say what carrier is offering push to view.
CANNES, France, 3GSM World Congress -- 14 February 2005 -- Motorola, Inc., a global leader in wireless communications, today announced plans to take “push-to” technology to the next level as the first company to deliver a complete “Push-to-View” solution on GSM PoC (Push-to-Talk over Cellular) handsets. The company will demonstrate this offering at 3GSM World Congress in Cannes.
With Push-to-View, the first in the family of “Push-to-Share” applications, consumers can now see the presence state of their contacts and spontaneously share pictures, captured on their phone, quickly and easily. Whether at work or at play, GSM PoC subscribers will have the ability to send voice or image messages — all at the push of a button*. For operators deploying PoC networks worldwide, Push-to-View capabilities provide a new real-time multimedia services data application that can lead to increased revenue and differentiation opportunities.
Push-to-View will be the first offering in a broader category of peer-to-peer file sharing applications slated from Motorola over the next year — including video, audio and other rich media – all designed to further extend the concept of one-touch communications.
“Motorola is driving the ‘Push-to’ revolution by creating new and different experiences for consumers worldwide,” said Joel Holl, director, GSM PTT Products, Motorola. “By continually expanding what’s possible with this technology, we’re enabling consumers to connect to the people and information that mean the most to them, quickly, easily, and intuitively.”

Did you see this commercial on TV? Did it have the signature Nextel PTT chirp? I know Nextel has the Direct Send feature wich is Push-to-Send and it lets you send phonebook entries via PTT to another user with a compatible phone. Only the i860 currently supports it. I would think that Nextel would want to get in on this Push-to-View technology. I like the idea of of all this push technology but I think I read somewhere that QChat is able to do all of this aswell. Not only pictures and sounds but also Video. It will be interesting to see when this comes up. Is there a way to watch this commercial online? If someone finds it please post. TIA
When Sprint dumps iDEN are they also dumping Motorola technology? Direct Connect is Motorola while Qchat is Qualcomm so I don't think there will be room for Motorola, maybe only for phones.

Yeah but in regards to what? Network or Handset production? Unless Motorola and Qualcomm can work together I just don't see how Motorola can bring anything but just handsets to Sprint. Although we do know that Nextel and Motorola have a contract until 2007 or 2010 something like that but thats for its iDEN network but once the network is done and everyone is moved over to CDMA where is Moto going to go?

Yes I saw the commercial but I dont remember if it had the Nextel chirp. I thought it was one of those gay truck commercials where bunch of rodeo clowns putting on makeup and making them look like Transvistites. After the commercial ended I thought it has be avaliable in the US. If not then why would Motorola spend good money advertising something that's not even useful to them.
