With this merger taking place very soon completed I hope that we as sprint users don't lose the one thing sprint has over every other cell phone co. the ability to buy phones without having to activate service. I just love the fact that I can go into any store that sell sprint phones and buy a phone as gift and let the person I'm buying it for have it turned on themselves, whenever they want. :badidea: :weeping:

I hope we don't lose that capability too! If we wanted to do that with any other carrier, you have to go through a third party dealer (e.g., an authorized dealer) to do so.

At RadioShack we can sell Cingular, Sprint, and Nextel without the service as long as you're willing to pay (+$150 for Sprint/Nextel, +$200 for Cingular).
