In everything I have read it mentioned converting the wav file to 8 kHz 16 bit mono before sending to PureVoice. However, I am using PureVoice 2.0.0 Beta #4 and it makes the QCP file from wav files I have not converted. In fact, it appears to convert it anyway as the quality of the conversion matches the quality if I would have converted the wav file.

Can anyone explain the reason for converting to 8kHz 16 bit mono, or was that before this newer verion of PureVoice?
