Okay... After my phone's battery just died I've realized that I have a faulty car charger (the Sprint "official" one with the Standard Charging Pin...)

What should I do? Take it to a Sprint store? I think this one came as part of a phone we purchased at Costco... I got the charger cause nobody else wanted it. (It wasn't my phone that we purchased at Costco... So I probably can't return it there...)

Sprint Stores always replace my car charger when I bring it in (I've gone through three in the last year)...that's why I buy all my phone accessories there...

Have they outright replaced it? Or do they want a receipt and everything?

I would assume that since it is an "Official Charger" using it with my phone gives it a practically unlimited warranty... (Okay, No, They won't replace it if I drop it off a cliff or something...)

Using an officla accessory just ensures that it is 100% compatible with your phone. As they say you shouldn't use ones not officially licensed and all that.

What's a costco?

They always just replace it once they see it is defective and looks brand new (I keep my stuff immaculate). I never needed a receipt or anything...

you could take it to the store and get it swapped out for a flat car charger for free...

Actually... Even though the flat ones probably would stay in my phone better... If I were to ever switch from Sanyo to LG I'd be stuck without a charger. There is something to be said for universal chargers hehe

Thats why I have an IGO charger with the flat tip. AND if I
every switch to a different phone that doesnt use
that flat tip I just have to buy a tip for it. I also use my IGO
for my IPOD and my DIGITAL CAMARA...

the charger has a year warranty, so they will swap it out

and if you swap into the blade charger and eventually buy a LG they will most likely swap you back into a pin charger. As long as its a sprint charger I know most stores I've been to are really easy going about replaceing them. They probably wont ask for a reciept they might look at your 8200 though thinking it may be your phone and not the charger.

An update on this particular debacle...

I went to the Sprint store and they swapped it out for a flat charger...

However, when asked about compatibility with other phones (I feel its best to act as ignorant as possible.) I was told that it would only work with a Sanyo (duh!)... Anyway, I asked the guy if I got a different model of phone if they'd switch it out for a standardized connector model or the model specific to that brand (LG/Samsung etc)...

He told me that they would not switch it out back to a different one if I were to get a different brand phone.

Somehow I feel like I got shafted -- I used to have a charger that would work on any phone and now I have a charger that will only work on Sanyos.

Why do I feel like they did that just so I would be forced to purchase another charger?

While it might be nice to have a SPRINT car charger, its only costs $7 to get an aftermarket one for any phone you need. You can buy 4 for the $29.99 Sprint chargers for 1.

This one was part of a costco bundle ... and I've bought an aftermarket $2 charger (wholesale) with the universal connector... It wouldn't even stay in my phone properly.

Would NOT recommend the aftermarket, off-brand chargers! I've seen a few phones fried by a non-Sprint charger, and Sprint's policy is not to replace your phone if that happens. I know the price is really outrageous on some of the accessories, but if you go in when there's deals going on it comes out okay. Same goes for the Radio Shack battery. . .

PS to Moogle: I don't think they're trying to force you to have to buy a new charger--trust me, that sales rep is not thinking that far ahead!
