actually, I whole-heartly believe in the PTT revolution...

However, I have dropped the feature a) Because my cool phone w/ it broke and I'm stuck with my current piece of crap, and b) I'm waiting for the Nextel/SPCS interoperabilty to happen....

I went to Verizon today to check out their newest baddest phone. They show me the Moto V710. I asked about their PTT. The chic told me that Verizon's PTT sucks. Their PTT capable phone sucks. Why pay $20 for the service if the phone sucks, can only PTT other Verizon customers when unlimited PCS to PCS only cost $5 more. I showed them my 5600 with PTT, while playing "Ice Princess" on my MiniSD card. They're like "WOW, that's a bad ass phone. I wish Verizon have something like that."

In Europe there are GSM carriers with PTT, I think Orange is one of them

Yes, but it seem to have been about as popular as dog poo on one's shoe. :p Seriously though, Orange are apparently relaunching PTT having failed to caus enay great excitement with the initial announcement. PTT just doesn't seem to be something that people here either need or want.

The general consensus is that anyone over the age of eight would look and feel like a bit of a plonker using such a feature in public. :p

I think it's just a cultural difference, people just don't seem to be very interested in it here. I imagine that it may find some use amongst certain professions though.

The commercial I saw a dude singing in the shower, all be it badly, while unbeknownst to him his buddy broadcast it to tiger friends. I heard a radio add that said 20 people at once can PTT, 6 on RL looks bad and paying for groups with NXTL is just wrong

Sprint/RL - Winphoria, Cingular - Kodiak, Alltel - Kodiak who provides for VZW and U.S. Cellular and if you do know, approximate #'s

What makes Cingular's solution better than RL, or the pipedream that it's better than DC
