For me its
1. Jerry Rice
2. Brett Favre
Those are really the only two for me. I think they are both great players and wish they would hang it up.

I think Farve wouldn`t come back if he thought he didn`t have anything left. Made some dumb mistakes last year and personally he went through a lot. Rice was done when he left the 49ers.

Jerry Rice for sure... I think Favre has still got it. Emmitt Smith is another one that needs to hit the road.

About time I hate this dumb ****! The only reason he stuck around after Dallas was to break Walter Paytons record, what BS! Atleast Barry had some respect and retired right before he broke it!

Barry was no doubt the best. If he was behind the Cowboys line he would have broke the record easy. Probably wouldn't have retired quite as early either. I'm also glad Tim Brown is calling it quits

I thought Barry retired becasue the Lions didn't want to win and wouldn't trade him? Also he probally was tired of getting hit. He made people look so stupid trying to tackle him. It's to bad he could've been a lot better if he was on a good team.

Barry said he retired because the lions weren't commited to winning.... I can't believe Emmitt retired and I didn't know about it... I'm glad though. I also miss Barry Sanders. That dude was amazing.

Vinny Testeverde :)
Is he still playing for Dallas? Yea he probally should've stopped playing last year or the year before.
I just saw rice interviewed on espn and he said even if he plays great this season he won't play next year. Also he said if he doesn't make a team then he has other options and life goes on. He's 42 right? I play basketball 3 or 4 days a week and have a hard time getting out of bed. I'm only 31

I will be one happy camper and will probably throw a party the day Brett Favre calls it quits. He knows he has nothing left but he is to stupid to realize it.

I think the Packers will have a better season than the Vikings even with a old beat up QB. It's very hard to beat a team 3 times in one year. :)

LOL, I think the question was "Which NFL players need to retire?" If my memory serves me correct, and I know it does, Mike Tice is a coach and retired from playing back in '95 after 14 years.

While in Minnesota there has been enough done to the "D" to make up for anything that might be lost due to Moss leaving. The Vikes will win the North rather easily.

durrr, no kidding...
The vikes have been the favorite in the conf for the past 3 years now and look what happens. They choke every year. Plus you lost your team in Moss. Maybe you should tell your buddy brad johnson to hang it up, he's a year older than favre at 36. Now tell me why Favre would retire when he finished w/ the 10th best qb rating last season???

You must be a Pistons fan. :hee: I think the Lions might surprise some people. There's no player that can make up for Moss leaving the Vikings. Cullpeper won't be able to just throw the ball up for grabs like he did with Moss. I think you will be putting your foot in your mouth at the end of the season by saying Farve knows he has nothing left but he is to stupid to realize it.

Sure they choked and lost but who was it that choked last year in the playoffs. Brett showed in that game that he does not have what it takes anymore and needs to call it quits. He has been hit one to many times to realize it.
How can you compare a starter to a back up? Oh yeah, Brett isn't near as good as Daunte.

First off, I play college football in minnesota, so I'd put money that I know more than you do when it comes to the sport. Secondly, the Packers beat their total offensive yards in a season record last year, a record from 1983. And I thought the vikes defense was soposed to be sooo great last year, they picked up some great rookies yada yada yada... what happened to that??? They ended up 28th in the league for defensive yards let up. Keep up the hype

Yeah he's more talented, no doubt. But when it comes to leadership and getting people to work their asses off for them, I'd pick Favre any day.

I have been coaching Pee Wee football for the past three and playing NFL fantasy football for the past eight years so when it comes to how players and teams in the NFL are doing I would put money that I know alot more than you do.
And if you believe that one person makes up a whole football team (see your post above) then you are in no way ready for the NFL.

Sorry, I geuss I take the team offensive stat back  How about this one...
Brett Favre's top 4 passing yards / season
1. 4413 yds 1995
2. 4212 yds 1998
3. 4091 yds 1999
4. 4088 yds 2004
Last year was his fourth most productive passing year of his career and he should retire??? Doesn't make sense to me.

I am gonna save this thread. That way this December after the Vikings have the NFC North all wrapped up I can come back and laugh at all these posts about how good the GreenBay Slackers are gonna be.

unfortunately, the NFC North is not going to produce even a team that goes to the NFC Championship game.
don't ask me who though....could be panthers, falcons, eagles, saints

Since when was anybody saying the Packers are gonna be good??? I don't remember saying that, in fact I'll go right out and say they will be barely above .500. All that is being said is the Viqueens talk themselves up every year like their ***** smells like roses, but in the end it just smells like poop.
Think Detriot Lions for the North.

Bengals 37 Vikings 8
I know it's not December but your Vikings need a lot of work. I still can't beleave Viking fans thought there offense would be fine without Moss. I wonder if Tice makes it through the year. Vikings might not win untill week 6 against the bears. I know it's early in the season but the NFC North looks pretty weak so far.
