My new 535 phone got a scratch on the first day I had it :( It wasn't too noticable, but it was enough to bug me a little. I went onto eBay and bought a compound called Displex which is suppossed to rub out scratches in clear plastic.
I got the studff today and followed the instructions on the package. Now the barely-noticable scratch is prismatic! It seemed to do nothing my made a barely noticable scratch into a rainbow colored one! I can't tell you how pissed I am right now!
I'm planning on exchanging it under the warranty anyhow because the phone redials calls at random after I hang up, but I have to wait uintil the Sprint store gets more in stock...
The moral of the story is... don't ever EVER use Displex!
ARUGH!
That sux big nuggets. Is this like the stuff that is supposed to fix scratches in eyeglasses?
My dad used eyeglass for his perscription glass, and it had the same effect as it did with your phone screen.

sorry that happened. I saw someone posted kmart or wallmart have some decent pouches that are cheap. I've had my 535 for 4 months and I've been just putting it in my pocket. I make sure I have nothing else is in the pocket and I usally take my phone out of my pocket before I sit down. I do have dust particles and a hair under the display. :irked: Luckily it's at the bottom so it's not very noticeable right now.

i've used displex (still have a tube or two of it) and it just makes things more noticeable. i think it's largely because the plastic used in nicer cellphone's screens is different (nicer) than your run of the mill acrylic. i have used metal polishing cloths on plastic watch crystals with perfect results. and i would guess that displex would work great for the kind of screens you see on for example most nokias, like the ones with changeable faceplates. but when i used it on my 4900 ages ago it just made things worse.
and that's the general rule these days. unfortunately, if you have a scratch on your screen the very best thing you can do is leave it alone and try and forget about it. ANY other effort will result in making things worse. unless you have sprint replace the faceplate entirely. which i guess is an option sometimes. or get a new phone.

How could someone scratch a cell phone screen? I thought it was virtually impossible. The case on the other hand, is much easier to damage.

if it were like one of those Virtu phones with the sapphire crystal screen, then yes it would be very difficult to scratch (but still possible). but the screens are plastic. very easy to scratch.

You know I have NO idea how I got the scratch. I carried around in an otherwise empty pocket that day, and set it on a table to charge. When I picked it up the next day, I noticed the scratch...
Hopefully Sprint will exchange it for me once I find one in stock. The problem with it redialing people is really annoying!

As of now there are no cases made for the slider phones. If you put the phone in your pocket and have your keys or some change in the pocket it could scratch the display/phone. I thought about getting a pouch but don't care for them.
A pouch is for girls? Maybe if it is a pink bear pouch.
I see noting girly about a case such as this. http://eforcity.com/cothxxxxlc06.html

I wasn't fast enough to edit it. For some reason pouches remind me of a purse or something. lol Whatever works for you. :) I like to answer my phone as quick as possible and I don't like to have to fumble around and trying to get the phone out of a pouch. Also I don't like hiding the phone/display.
As far as the one in your link that doesn't look to safe. I guess if the phone fits snug but looks like the phone can fall out.

I actually found a GREAT leather universal belt clip at Walmart for under $9. Holds the 535 great. It also has 2 arms that hold the phone in by fitting over the front, so it's like a little buffer in case I run into a wal or something.

Those Virtu phones disgust me, who in the right mind would pay anywheres from $4500 to $7000 for a cellphone? At that price it should kinetically powered so you never have to charge it.

HAHAHAHAHA El Scratcho, the cell phone display-scratching bandit strikes again! MUHAHAHAHAH:lol:
Edit: Seriously man, sorry about your screen. I hate the screen scratching bandit. (Note to self: Must catch bandit!) I hate covering up my ~$400 piece of technology more, so I use a holster and am very careful. Try a chamois cloth and some cd/dvd scratch fixer. It works for me.

Okay, that's understandable if you don't have a case at all.

Oh :hee: I don't use a pouch either. I prefer a holster. :)

MY silver 8300 was in my car with the charger in and it fell on the floor. This is when I 1st got it. It wasn't in a case but I was on my way to the Sprint store looking for something when this happened. I bought some pouch which I returned the phone was hard to get in and out of and the face plate kept coming off when I took it out. But when I took out my phone right undeneath the camera and to the right by where the flash is our 2 tiny little scratches people would think I am crazy for being upset over them there so tiny. But I wonder how I could cover those up? My favorite case is the By Tech Clear Shuttle Case which I have for the 8200 so for now my 8300 os on there and not the most perfect fit. But the case ripped more and is old and the 8300 one wont be out for 2-3 more weeks. So today I am going to this other Sprint stopre by my house to see what they have.. Rose
