View Full Version : NASCAR on NBC
We have to start a new thread folks. NASCAR is now on NBC starting with the Pepsi 400. I missed the Busch race but glad to see Truex win and stay on top in the standings. I don't know about Jr. I mean he's less than 150 points out of the Chase, but just not looking good. If Johnson and Biffle get in the big one this week, it will let A LOT of people back into the chase...including Jr.!

Dude...that was awesome. Climbed all the way up into the flag stand. How about Jr. He knocked off 1/3 of his deficit in the points. Was about 150 out of the chase, now only about 100. Now we just need Johnson to have some troubles next week and Jr.'s just about in! Good race though. They were on edge A LOT during that race. Lots of close calls. Glad to see Stewart win...I'm a fan. Sucks for Waltrip, flat tire, crash and out of the chase! On to CHICAGOLAND next week. My pick, Stewart wins again, darkhorse, Kahne.

I loved the race.. Though it was a bit boring.. they set a record for fewest leadchanges, and most laps let by a single driver.
I really hated it for mikey.. That was a depressing interview that mikey gave..
JR WINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Freak YEA!!!!!!

Finally.. can't believe it.. he wasnt a factor all day really, and i think with about 20 more laps kenseth coulda had him.. now he just needs to gain 15 pts a race on 10th place....

can we say hello silly season?

Well he needs to prove he can actually win a championship instead of back into it when another competitor gets injured..
and remember this:
Mikey Watrip driving a Toyota in 2007. Mark My words.... He will be their flagship driver.
AND (dont be surprised if a Eury is working with him)

I havent posted for a while because i'm tied to my phone for a modem. But. The first talk was that Kenseth was going to go to the 2, as we see this is not correct, but the talk was that Mcmurry (sorry for the spelling TCOB) is going to drive a Roush car but him and the 17 have not been "getting along". But it is only a 2 year deal, but that is what edwards had going into Roush to see if he fit in there, now they are doing renagotion and he will probably get a more.
Martian is looking to retire but may stay because there are no "seasond" drivers, and would a Vigara car work with a 30 yoer old. There is a chance now that Mikey could fill that.
Sorry to say but JR is out of the race. It is gonna be weird not having an Earndhart looking for the cup. DEI had 2 problems this year. First was all the moving of teams around. The second is that the theving insurance company that said Sr insurance was not payed up caused DEI to lack the money that they were used to. They had a good plan to build DEI to were it would excell but that money was part of it and alot counted on things going in order. They will rebound but this year there was not alot of wind tunnel, testing or development.
I am courios what will happen with Newman and Busch on the same team. I think that Kurt is used to having a team while Newman and Rusty never were able to get that.
The 10 race run will be interesting, I am still calling Biffel. Tony iswinning late season races but Biffel has constincy and Roush has the money to play with that Gibs dose not. . I won't toss out Johnson though. Last year he would have won the cup if Biffel had not blocked him to help Busch in the last race.
The silly season is gonna be real interesting there are as many open cars as there are drivers with out a ride. The biggest is gonna be Mikey. DEI said see ya but he is a great driver that alot of teams would want, The 6 car is maby open, the 40 car probably will be. I am thinking Ricky Rudd might look at a new ride.
Ok I am done

Viagra is out on the 6 car no matter if Martin stays. Look for any number of sponsors to be a possibility. I could list them all, but its all the obvious ones such as Napa et. al.
Tony Eury Jr has popped up in the rumor mill on any number of rumors, and I think that would make a big BIG deal. He doesn't get the credit he deserves for how good of a car chief he is..

NASCAR is the greatest sport in America!!!! No to mention the fact that Baseball and Hockey are in limbo right now (Hockey because of missing a whole season) and real football doesn't start for a while... Let us not forget who won today...

If toyota will have Waltrip as thier "flagship" driver in 2007 then they will be in trouble... Only 3 wins since joining DEI (for his career period) all @ super speedways! Since toyota will be going through a few tough years. Maybe a driver whos avarge fininsh is hovering around 22nd lifetime in Cup is not the best choice. Just my thoughts And Tony Eury Jr. is likely not to leave DEI. I would like to see Truex take over that ride in 2006 or maybe 2007
Easy boys...lets not get too worked up. I'm a Jr. fan, #1 but since it's looking dim (his chances of making the Chase) I'm a Stewart man through the Chase. He's always been in my top 3 choices of drivers.
I think the Waltrip/Toyota thing just might be right on the money. I don't know about Eury Jr. though. I really would like to see him back with Jr. next year. The money might not be the most going with DEI but he will be the crew chief of the 2006 Nextel Cup Champion...Mr. Dale Earnhardt, Jr.

I like Jr. also, There is still alot of hype for him to live up to his father! It really hurts me to see him wreck out of soo many races! Jr has the skill no question... But this year his equipment has been very lacking. The reason for this is not all on Jr, nor is it all on DEI there has been a huge gap in communication since this whole team switch thing went down! Waltrip has Jr's cars and it is not helping. Honestly the best thing that could happen like I saisd is Treux in the 15 next year AND GIVE JR BACK HIS CREW THAT HELPED HIM BE THE CONTENDER THAT HE REALLY IS...

I think you underestimate Mikey Waltrip. Hey has had some AWESOME equipment this year and had some good runs killed by 4 blown tires 3 blown engines and a few drivers Punting him down a straightaway. He should have 3 wins now. Remember when Dodge came about the had Ray Evernham with the near Retired Bill Elliott and Jeremy Mayfield as their flagship drivers, and I think thats been a good choice. The Waltrips already have a relationship with TRD, so the odds are good of that relationship continuing. Mikey Waltrip can drive the He|| out of a racecar, and with topnotch equipment like Toyota would put under him (ALL Toyota teams are HEAVILY factory backed including ENGINES and R & D=see TOYOTA IRL).
The strongest rumors about Waltrip put him in EITHER the 11 car with NAPA, or MAYBE him teaming with the HAAS 0 team and his own MWR 00/99 car with a sponsor possibly NAPA.
Yeah, its not HIGHLY likely tha Eury Jr. would go elsewhere, but who thought Kurt Busch would leave Roush- the man who made his career what it is. Money and opportunity talk. Yeah, he and DE. Jr were an AWESOME combo, and I would love to see them back together, but if I'm not mistake, Jr. contract is up in 07 also- don't count on him staying wit DEI if somethings doesn't change.
just my .02, and I have reasonably well informed sources...

Long-term contract to keep Eury Jr. with DEI
MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- Dale Earnhardt Inc. announced Thursday that Tony Eury Jr. has signed a long-term contract to remain with the team.
"Having such a loyal employee and talented crew chief like Tony as part of DEI on a long-term basis was an important objective for the continuity of our program," said Teresa Earnhardt, president and CEO of DEI.

Currently the crew chief for Michael Waltrip, Eury Jr. previously was the crew chief for Dale Earnhardt Jr. However, despite a solid 2004 season in which Earnhardt qualified for the Chase for the Nextel Cup, he slipped in the final 10 races to finish fifth in points -- a two-position drop from '03.
"I couldn't be happier," said Eury, a 14-year employee of the company. "I've spent many years with DEI and always planned to be for a long time to come. With all the outside distractions now behind us, we can focus on winning races."
Before the season, DEI looked to bolster both of its Cup teams by swapping the crews of the Nos. 8 and 15, with Eury moving over to run Waltrip's team and Pete Rondeau leading Earnhardt's crew.
The swap eventually led to Rondeau being replaced by Steve Hmiel as crew chief of the No. 8 team. Waltrip also has announced his decision to leave DEI at the end of the season, and speculation remains that Earnhardt and Eury could be reunited.
"We'll let you guys worry yourselves about what we're going to do in the future," Earnhardt said after Waltrip's decision. "We're just going to concentrate on one week at a time. I think once we get to the end of the season, we'll have a real clear picture about of what might be the best for us to do."
Entering Michigan, Earnhardt is 15th in the standings, 163 points behind 10th-place Carl Edwards in the Race for the Chase with four races remaining until the 10-race playoffs begin at New Hampshire on Sept. 18.
Waltrip is 21st with no hope of making the Chase.
For 2006 NASCAR competition, DEI plans to field the Nos. 1, 8 and 15 cars on the Nextel Cup Series circuit; and the Nos. 8 and 11 cars on the Busch Series circuit.
