Wow. I saw the demo of the 5600 at Best Buy, and immediately took a picture of my friend with it. Even he gasped at how clear the image was. It blows everything else out of the water. And it's not like we have weak phones. I'm upgrading from the 4050 and he had a Moto V600. The screen is better than the 4050, there, I said it!! The Macro mode for close shots is really useful for getting down item number at price tags when you shop.
After I got it activated with the usuals...Free 2 months of vision and unlimited texting and ERP (Screw you Best Buy). I tested out the badboy while watching 24. The phone is too slick, and it kept me from paying attention to the show. Vision was up quickly, and I started book marking my favorite sites immediately. Vision is VERY fast. Twice the speed of the 4050. I was amazed. I use a lot of vision, usually surfing message boards, CNN, EsPN, AIM, directions, yellow pages, google, you name it. So no 35k bug is a must have from now on. Text messaging is sweet too. I am messaging Deval while writing this, and my phone says "Message from DEVEL". Freaky, but I see what I was missing when the 7400 came out. LOL. No need to program voice dialing into this baby. Just hit talk, "Say Contact, Name + Type" For example: Contact, Jason, Mobile
Bam, my good friend Jason's phone rings. Crazy stuff here. Generations ahead of the A620's Voice dialing. This is hot stuff my friends.
I also noticed that Sanyo is cashing in on their "Highest in Customer Satisfaction" award from JD Power, with a sticker on right corner of the phone's box. Speakerphone is clear and very loud, I had to put it down to level 3 of 8. Almost as good as the Godlike V600, but that's not a fair comparison, since the 56k is not full-duplex.
There are a lot of goodies in the box too. USB cable, universal charger, 16mb miniSD, dual budded stereo headphones that double as a headset. A 512mb card is a must have if you want a good amount of songs. It is super easy to transfer files with the USB cable, as Windows XP auto detects it, and I grabbed Eminem's newest song "Mockingbird" from his computer. Crystal clear through the speakerphone. Amazing through the headphones. I can hear it very clearly when I'm in the shower as well. keke
I also liked that the phone has up to 60 minutes of voice recording. You CAN send and read text messages during a call. Sick feature (aka 680). There is also a shortcut menu, like the 4050, where you can assign your top 10 functions, like calendar and calculator.
Only negatives I can think of, as mentioned before, the camera blows at night, since the flash is far from the lens. SprintTV is choppy, not so great. not worth the extra $$$. I'm going to go out right now, so I can reply back with how the battery holds up.
**BREAK**
I left my house around 4pm, got back at 2am. Lost only 1 bar of battery. Was on the phone quite a bit. Checked out some NBA scores and gaming message boards. Listened to a couple of songs too. The box says 3.4 hours of talk time on digital. I guess the MP3 player takes less juice from the phone, since it is playing from the SD card. Vision is much more brisk too, since I put my font on "small", the 2nd to smallest font out of 4 choices. Since there is less data transfering being sent back and forth, which means that the vision is more efficient than on other phones. I have my screen set at 15 seconds Main LCD and 8 seconds keypad, so that is a pretty healthy amount of time they phone is active. Maybe I'll be able to drain the battery at work, but we'll see on the weekend. If I can use it really heavy through a day, I might have to bust out my Dad's Costco car charger :p, but so far, I don't think I'm going to need an extended life battery so far, unlike my 4050.
All I can say is, since this is a $430 phone + tax, I reccommend the Sprint Insurance on it. I'll probably skip on a case since Lockline can send me a new one, when I want.
All in all, this phone is baller status. I'm going to miss my voice memo ringers, and full screen daily screen savers of the 4050. As well as the auto fill feature when filling out forms on vision. I will miss you dearly my 4050 :( but I have a new love.
P.S. Last note: Games like tetris and java bowling run a lot smoother on the 56.
Bottom Line: 5600 is a sexy beast. You won't be disappointed. :O
