The Motorola Franklin… or Should We Say RAZRberry!

http://img60.echo.cx/img60/3668/razrberry1fc.jpg

Ok, so here’s a quick refresher for you, in case you’ve forgotten just how much we’ve been anticipating the RAZRberry. Last we heard, Motorola was working on a Blackberry-killer type qwerty candybar that was going to be done in the style of the RAZR, which some were referring to as RAZRberry. Oh, and did we mention it’s freaking 112 x 64 x 11.5mm (4.4 x 2.5 x 0.45-inches) and won’t weigh more than 115g (4oz)? So this is what it feels like to be in love.

so why isnt sprint buddying up to motorolla to get these bad boys made for us?It's a possibility, that's why I posted it in the General Discussion forum. Motorola said the entire Razr line, from the V3 to the Pebl to the Slvr V8 candybar, would be brought over to the CDMA side of things. Probably depends on their success.

Well said...pretty much why I ended up going down the Samsung path.

I would love to see Sprint pick up more motos. I was this close |<---->| to porting my number over to Cingular for the $129 Razor deal at Best Buy. The day after I picked up my a800 a T-mo store in the area had a $99 razor sign by the street. I was like SOB!

I'm leaning a lot towards Samsungs when it comes to regular phones. It seems they're not afraid to try something new and they've come a long since the last crap phones they had in 2001-02.

I thought about porting to cingular too. Where I live Sprint is not that great and I end up having to roam a lot on Verizon and the deals they have for the RAZR is so tempting!!

Unless of course Sprint were to get the camera version of the Samsung i730 or one of a few Windows Mobile 5.0 Samsung PDA's coming out in 2006. I'm sure it'd top whatever Sanyo has planned.

Maybe this is a brazen comment (but one Im willing to make in the absence of ANY facts on a Sanyo PDA phone) I think the i730 could go toe to toe with whatever that phone might be. Im nuetral when it comes to Sanyo/Samsung, but that phone looks like it can kick some ass.

The i730 is a great device so far. As for mentioning the Sanyo PDA, you can be sure I will never violate an NDA.

jschu22
07-30-2005, 09:23 PM
Then without anyone violating their agreement you can be sure many will be skeptical of this Sanyo PDA phone.

Time will reveal all. I think all this fevered speculation is pointless. Until someone leaks pictures and/or specs, taking a position or getting upset about any of this is pointless. There are going to be some mighty relieved folks around here in a few months. Sprint is going to blow some minds, even among those here at SU.

CoreyTheGent
07-30-2005, 09:32 PM
The Sanyo PDA will probably have no Bluetooth, no EV-DO, a VGA camera and some duct-tape to hold it together.

You better release some damn info, Jay, 'cause Sanyo is getting murdered around here. And Mr. know it all is saying how the 9000 won't have Bluetooth and is infact the handset we saw in those pictures? My God, it's like Samsung has completely taken the lineup over.

CoreyTheGent
07-30-2005, 09:42 PM
Can you at least say whether or not a "Sanyo 9040" exists? If you can acknowledge the existance of the PDA without violating your NDA, then surely you can do the same for this handset.

You'd like to think that it was that simple, but it isn't. NDAs can be very broad or very specific. Parts of them can expire at different times for different reasons. Do you get my drift yet?

Im curious because this doesnt make a lot of sense to me. I am bound by a NDA agreement with my company as well but it is not specific and no part of it will end until I leave the company. Your situation could of course be different but I fail to see why it would have to be. I am not questioning your reliabilty, although I am getting frustated by how more and more we're keep running into brick walls when it comes to getting any information at all. This must be how Charlie Brown feels whenever he tries to kick that damn football.

Information is power. Some companies are better at controlling info than others. The situation for consultants under NDA is different than employees. Right now, even though it looks otherwise, Sanyo is winning the info war. Samsung is a leaky tub by comparison. I do understand the frustration by some on this board, though.

Deval
