This is a short tutorial for using the Focus Tool to avoid errors with uploading images, ringers, etc.
NOTE: Samsung N400 users should use the special 'tweaked' tool at www.sprintusers.com/focus/n400
Images:
Depending on what phone you have, you need to first resize (crop) the image file so that it fits your phone's screen.
First, you need to determine what resolution you need to make the images. Click here to see a list of all the vision phones supported and their screen sizes: http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37422
Note: Remember that the phones all have text on the bottom and top of the wallpaper, so you might have to play around with the sizes of the pictures if you dont want text to cover up any part of the image.
To resize the images, open the file you would like in a photo editor, and just resize it. You dont have to get 100% the exact screen size unless you use the 5350, because it might not take the image and give you an error.
When you are satified with the image quality and size, save the file as your initials followed by the file name. It is important that your file name does not have any spaces in it.
For example, i have an image of my car. once i resize it to 128x112 for my Samsung A620, i save the file as "DJBcar.jpg".
Once that is done, just go to www.sprintusers.com/focus and click the 'browse' button and locate your file. Title the upload with the same name as the file name.
for my sample, it would be titled DJBCar or My Car. You can include spaces in the title, but the tool will not handle punctuation marks such as: ",'&
Then enter your phone number and you are done. your phone will receive a text message which will point to the file which can be downloaded onto your phone.
Wolla, you now have a custom image on your phone to show off to others.
Ringers:
Ringers are handled and sent the same way as images. Focus will accept MIDI (.mid) and Qualcomm PureVoice (.qcp) formats. (Note, if you have a WAV file, it must be converted to a .qcp) Also note that when using Focus to send ringers, the file name should not have spaces, and the ringer should be 30 seconds or less, since that is the longest amount of time your phone will ring before rolling into voicemail.
