I just found out that they blackberry available for sprint users but I was told its only for commercial use. I am a non-commercial user and want a blackberry or I will be forced to switch to T-Mobil for the Sidekick II but I don't want to lose Sprint Service nor pay the $200 termination fee. How would an individual like me go about getting a blackberry as a Sprint user.

I really DO need a blakberry, I dont mind getting a a 2nd device and a 2nd service provider but I would rather not. I just saw the new one on phonescoop with bluetooth which makes my pants tight :) and yes i really really do need/want one.

Why not get a Treo? The only benefit of a BlackBerry I could see is the Enterprise Server software for support with Exchange, Domino, and Groupwise. If you are not using one of those methods for email it seems like a Treo would be a better bet because of all the additional things it can do.

Maybe never...........this is already the second Blackberry for Sprint, and they haven't put either on the personal side.

Do you have a Blackberry PUSH server, for starters?

I would guess more than 2 months, but less than a year. As you probably know, Sprint is in the process of merging with Nextel. Nextel currently offers the exact same model to it's customers for $249, regardless of their busess/personal classification. If you trade in a qualifying PDA, it drops the price by $100, and there's also a $100 mail-in rebate through Nextel, netting you a BT-compatible Blackberry for $49. Not that I'd advocate switching to Nextel for the Blackberry, but the point is that, if Nextel has it for regular customers and Sprint offers it to business customers now, I doubt it'll be too long before it's available to the general public. YMMV.

I think you have been given wrong information.

I received the Blackberry 7250 and activated it just fine...contrayry to what has been reported here, I was able to use my Vision plan to use the built in Web Browser built in on the Blackberry.

FYI, I really liked it, but it did not measure up to my Treo 650 as mentioned earlier in this thread...but it was a pretty good little device...

I had a Nextel Blackberry before switching to Sprint for the PPC6600... It was a good device. The email worked better on it than the PPC and I like the PIN messages on the BB too. However, the PPC beats the BB hands down in everything else! There was software for the BB, but it was a smaller selection and surfing the web was slower than dial-up.

Plus, with Nextel you had to have the phone/radio operational AND they charged you $50 a month for the BB service.

I switched to Sprint-got a cooler phone-and my husband and I are using our phones for less than I had my one phone with Nextel.
