Hi all: I have a Sprint PPC 6600 with pocket outlook. I have no problem retrieving emails into outlook on my phone, but when I send email, I'm getting an "invalid recipient" email.....this is not correct. This is happening for replies and new emails. The email addresses that I'm using are valid. My home ISP / email is via earthlink and I've tried their support to no avail. I am aware of the website smtp.com that authenticates sent email to help alleviate this problem, but, since there is a charge for use of their services, I thought I'd post here first to see if anyone has suggestions. Thanks! Cheers!

I have to check the "authentication required" box, but it all works fine. - sheureka

Thanks for the info. Prior to reading this, I actually tried using the sprintpcs outgoing server, but still having problems. If it's not too much of a pain, I'll list my settings below and you can tell me what you think. I believe that the problem has to do with authentication. I've noticed that, when I check the outgoing authentication box on my desktop, I then have a place to enter an outgoing username and password. On the PPC 6600, I checked the box, but there is no place to enter another username and password.

It appears that it's sending mail, but I'm getting invalid recipient messages. I know that the addresses I'm trying are valid.

Under email account setup, I have the following:

email address: my email address (____@infionline.net)
User info: Name: my name
User Name: my isp user name
Password: my isp password

Acct type: pop3

incoming email: pop.infionline.net
outgoing email: smtp.sprintpcs.com
domain: (blank)

under options: Connection: the internet (have also tried sprint)
no boxes checked about authentication and ssl (when I check the authentication box, can't receive either)

Maybe I need to change something under my sprintpcs account settings...wasn't sure where to do this. Thanks so much for your help. I'm usually pretty good with this type of thing, but this has got me perplexed!

I have mine set up the same way, except that I have the box checked about authentication. It's odd that you wouldn't be able to receive with the authentication checked because that's only for outgoing mail. The SSL connection is not checked.

On my Sprint account on the computer I have my "reply to" address set for my ISP and I have my ISP email address listed as an external mail source. I'm now wondering if that is what makes mine work and why so many other people seem to be having problems.

Hope this helps - sheureka

Hi: I recently updated software on my phone and had to figure out all of my email settings again....unfortunately, i didn't note them prior to the update, which cleared out everything on my 6600! Finally got it again, so I thought i'd post this here for others that may find this posting on a search. I have earthlink as my home ISP. Here are my email settings on phone:

Incoming: pop.infionline.net
Outgoing: smtpauth.earthlink.net:587

The "587" refers to the outgoing port that requires authentication. Just find out the port number to use if your ISP is different. You can also look in your outlook settings on your PC , which should actually have a field for the port number. Also, under options, make sure you check the box that authentication is required and select "Sprint" from the method of connection drop-down.

Cheers! :-)

Hi, I tried what you said but maybe the 6700 phone is different. I can receive my Earthlink e-mail but can't send. I'm on a Mac at home, which is where I have my Earthlink account. Does that make a difference? (PC at work uses Outlook and sending/receiving is no problem, but they set it up for me at work, and Outlook doesn't even show up on the Accounts list under Menu/Tools/Options, so I can't select it and find out how it's configured.) Is the 587 server code the same for everyone on Earthlink? This is frustrating! Thanks!
