OK, so here's the deal. My VGA-1000 was going into endless startup loops and never booting. I took it into sprint 5 minutes before the store closed, the guy said I'm not under warranty. Since it was close to closing, I won't find out if they can "fix" the phone until tomorrow. This will be my third phone that has gone bad so I'm not exactly optimistic.

So the rep at the store says that I am "elegible" however for a $150 off a new phone if I sign a 2 year agreement. I'm assuming that just about anyone is elegible for this and it doesn't sound like that great of a deal to me. About 2 months ago, my girlfriend's phone was stolen and the offered her the same deal; since she was short on cash she took it. We're on the same plan (3 lines shared) and so I'm somewhat frustruated at sprint continually trying to bait us into signing another agreement. I'm frustruated at sprint apparently jacking the price up on phones to make it seem like $150 off is a great deal and I'm just annoyed at sprint's customer service in general which just doesn't seem that good.

The crux of the matter is that I've been mulling over getting a treo 650 for some time and if it turns out my phone is infact dead I'll be pretty tempted to upgrade to the PDA phone.

My question is this though, is there any way I can get around signing a new agreement, or can I perhaps get a better plan if I do resign. Can I possibly get the $150 off instantly instead of via mail in while I'm at it? What are my chances of swinging something - anything, really, that'll seal the deal?

I like to think I'm a good customer; we've got three lines w/ vision and I've been with sprint for what seems like a time (since before they even offered contracts). But again, I'm getting annoyed at the seemingly disposable phones they're selling me (I sure hope the $599 treo has better build quality." I'm seriously considering just buying a $100 phone or something used off ebay at this point because the money I'm pouring into sprint phones for what I'm apparently getting is getting ridiculous.

Anyways, thanks in advance for the advice,

-Xy
