OK guys, how do you download this pictures from your phones? I used BitPim on my old Sanyo 8100 before without any problems but when I try to connect to my new MM535 it shows an error, it won't recognize the phone (as other CDMA phone) What software do you use for this purpose, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well you should really use a card reader or just upload them to Sprint's site.

BTW using BitPim with the 535 you should select "Other CDMA Phone" and put it on the 2nd COM port (it says USB to Serial maybe???). I know when I hook my phone up it has COM5 and COM6 for some reason, COM6 works with BitPim and COM5 doesn't. I can give more details once I get home and post in another thread.

Jag,
Thanks for your prompt respond. I tried again and it worked. I found out that my LG MM535 opens two com ports at the same time with BitPim when using a USB cable (in my case Com11 and Com12) but only one of them is the real connection while the other one is shown as a modem port, so I was able to access the file system at least.
Anyway there is no support for this model for direct download and upload files from and to this phone. However, the file system is accessible and every file can bi downloaded by finding it in the right directory.
And by the way, is there any reader for these mini SD cards? I know there are adapters though and my printer doesn't have such a slot unfortunately.
I have attached two screen shots form the BitPim and the Com Ports will vary depending on how many USB drivers are installed on your PC (I have to many).
The first picture shows the Com Port choice and the second picture shows a part of the file system where highlighted is the file that contains the Master Subsidy Lock which could be read by dumping the Hex content from the file. Directory: /nvm/nvm/nvm_0000. It will take a little bit more efforts to find pictures and movies but everything is accessible from here. I apologize for using a wrong thread for this topic but this one looked to me closest to the picture transfer I was interested in. Thanks again.
Regards

Alot of the good stuff is under the "brew" directory, like the pictures taken with the phone, videos, "saved to phone" stuff, ringers, apps....

Jag, thanks for creating this new thread although it said here I did it :)
Anyway, finding pictures from the file system is really easy now, it is actually easier than I thought because the picture files saved in the memory have kept their extension JPG so nothing easier than that. In my older Samsung A-680 picture files were just numbered files with no extension and it was not this easy to find the right files. This BitPim is a miracle (and it's free after all).

Jaggrey

Wow that sucks.... I never used BitPim when I had the A680. I used it when I had the 7400 and I think it kept the JPG extention as well. I thought it was kinda cool that in the video directory it stores a picture of the 1st frame of the video (which it shows when you're browsing the videos). I dunno if the 535 does that, but probably not since it seems kinda slow in displaying the videos in thumbnail view.

makden
06-17-2005, 12:56 PM
Yeah, the 535 shows in the video folder thumbnails of the first frame of each video saved, the only thing that bothers me is the length of the video, only 15 sec. I was hoping it will depend on the memory card but it is not a case :irked:

The one I got happens to charge too... but I won't be using it for that. Never did trust those USB charging cables.

Hey guys, I just got a 535 as a replacement for my Sanyo 4900, but I haven't switched the service yet (have to wait for my friend that owns the account).

1st of all, where can I get a good USB cable?

Also, is there any way with BitPim, or anything else, to transfer my phone book from my 4900 to the 535? I have the 4900 cable and used it to back up my contacts, so I have them on my PC already.

2nd also, will I be able to pull my MIDI ringers from my Sanyo onto my 535? Sounds stupid, but I have one assigned to almost everyone in my phone book, and maybe want to keep them assigned the same on my 535. I guess the ones built into the phone are available on Sanyo's site or somewhere, right?

Thanks,
monteb

You can get a cable off of ebay... that's the only place I've seen them. Phonebook transfers.... I think the stores can do them. I wasn't able to pull it up thru BitPim but the store should have the appropiate software. As far as ringers, you can use BitPim to pull the ringers off of the 4900, but you might have to send them to the 535 via Focus or another tool... I haven't figured out how to write to the phone using BitPim yet.

Hi, I just got the USB cable from 3gcables, however, the driver from their website doesn't seem to be working. On BitPim, it shows up as LG CDMA USB Modem Diagnostic Serial Port Driver(WDM), and LG CDMA USB Modem, but I don't see a "LGE CDMA USB serial port" like Makden had in his picture...where did you get your driver? I doesn't seem like LGE's website has it.

Thanks

I think MobileAction.com offers the free software download for Phonebook?
Maybe you can use them to transfer your phonebook data, including the ringtone.

I'm having this exact same problem. Where else can I find drivers for the 535?

The modem driver seems to work like a charm, though. I got connected to #777 a few minutes ago. :headbang2

I have drivers for the LG that worked for me that I can email. You'll prolly have to uninstall yours 1st.

Hey guys, this is just an idea. From my brief look at BitPim, it looks like you can add real support for a new phone if you're willing to write some code and add it to the BitPim project.

Well, I have a 535, and I'm a software guy by trade... Hopefully I could follow another example and, well, how hard can it be? A little reverse-engineering to figure out how the contacts and ringers are stored, and maybe I could get it working.

Unless someone is already on it

I got the USB cable, and can't do anything with it except maybe copy pictures from the phone or backup my data (don't even know if a restore would even work, and I'm not going to test it on my phone, thank you!). Would be nice to be able to manage the data for real.

If there's real demand for this, start sending me some PRESSURE. My project at work will be done in a couple of weeks, so I may have a chance to take a look at doing this.

Just like most people who get the lg MM 535 I have bought a data cable from a third party and I am now looking for drivers. Some came with the cable but every time I try to get them installed the machine tells me I do not have drivers for this device, so I am looking for drivers, again. I would appreciate any help I can get.

ok sent!

Like others I have no problem installing the USB Cable/Driver/Modem Driver for my Sanyo 8100 but I'm having problem with the 535.

I used the USB driver that came with the cable and it installed fine. It defaulted to COM6 which I changed to COM2. Then I tried to install LGUSBModemDriver_Ver_3.9.exe and it installed ok but I don't see any modem in my device manager.

I can't test #777 and Bitpim won't dected the phone. Help?

Jaggrey

You don't need to install 2 different drivers. The one that I used automatically made 2 COM ports, one for modem and one for serial device (which is the one BitPim uses). Kinda weird tho... all other phones I've hooked up only created one port.

Ok I tried this on a different machine(Fresh copy). Plug the phone & Cable in, and put in the CD that came with the cable. It searched and found the drivers and installed as COM2. Load up Bitpim and it can't detect the phone. Check the Devices and it see the COM2 but there's no modem drivers for #777

I think I'm going to need that driver.

Jaggrey

I can email you the drivers I have if you want. In BitPim it should see 2 different ports, the modem one and one that says USB/Serial or something like that. You would select the latter.

I think my problem is the cable. I think It's for anothe LG phone instead of 535. It will charge but it won't work as data. I see the tiny sticker that saids 3200 which is probably for a LG 3200.

I installed the drivers you sent Jaggery and the CDMA USB Serial Port shows up (COM 4) and I chosed that one but every time I BitPim tries to detect the phone nothing is showing up.

Suggestions?

Actually scratch that last message, I read earlier in the thread that BitPim doesn't support direct file transfers yet with the 535 but I can access the file system.

Is there any program that will allow file transfers and data mgmt with the 535?

Software from MobileAction seems having good reputation at CNet:
http://reviews.cnet.com/Mobile_Action_Handset_Manager_9_0_USB_data_suite/4852-3535_7-31355179.html?tag=uolst

But I remember you have to buy their hardware so that you can run the software, since the software is free and can download directly from MobileAction.com.
