From what I hear, it's Nextel's best phone. Anybody care to share any personal stories of success, downfalls? Happy? Mad? Whatever, I just want to know if it's worth buying, even though there's a merger practically set in stone.

Wirelessly posted (MOT i860: MOT-A-1C/01.01 UP.Browser/7.0.0.2.c.1.104 (GUI) MMP/2.0 UP.Link/5.1.2.12)

This reply comes to you from a NXTL i860. Same as the Boost units except for cosmetics and carrier specifics. While not perfect, the i860 has a great internal display (176 x 220 px, 256k colors). A slightly different variant, the i850, is due next month. Build quality is high and RF is quite good. Cam could be better, but it's serviceable. Now, if the browser info weren't captured above and I didn't tell you, would you know this post was wireless from a small handset and its keypad?

i can do that from my boost also, or my sprint phone!! I just like it better from my computer! Bigger screen, plus it is quicker typing on a full keyboard.

Well as I worked for Nextel for almost a year, the phone when first originally released had major problems...like if you did a Master Reset, you could have possibly blown the SIm card...and the warrenty and insurance did not cover it. Now, as far as bugs and stuff, there have been some problems with the camera and DC, as they were wired together wrong when built and there are some complications...one being can't use DC at all if u are using the camera. Quality...it's not worth the money...just like most Nextel Phones...the Care people have to say that "it's more cause the quality of the phones are so great" Yeah that's bull crap and every employee knows it, cause Nextel phones are made to break easily...so the "Man" can get more money...yeah, it's sick, but true.

i bought the i860 in the begining of october, and aroung february the screen started to crack. when a few of my friends saw the phone they actually switched over to nextel just for that phone. but what do u know the same thing happened. i dont know if it is a common problem but i know a few people who it has happened to.......plus the camera sucks!!!!

.......plus the camera sucks!!!!

The camera does suck, and the interface for it sucks more. It is very hard to use when you are drunk.

If you are getting a nextel I still highly recommend the i860 though because it is the best phone they have out.

Late this year a phone (the i870) is supposed to come out with a 1.3MP camera, memory chip slot, and MP3 player. Hit me up on aim and I can direct you to the specs and pictures if your interested. (dont know if link posting is allowed here)

yea the i860 is all its cracked up to be. its think and clunky. the camera sucks. video sucks. video playback is horrendous! it isnt as durable as other nextel phones. buttons are too small. screen is great but should have been qvga because its 176x220, the pixels are tooo spread apart making pictures grainy looking
