Well, turns out my phone was not really lost at all. Some guy RLs my brother and so he comes to me. I RL with him back and forth, nicely asking him about the phone (what it looks like, what carrier, the number, etc.)....and rightfully think it's my phone. He plays dumb and acts like I don't know anything about the phone ("uhhhh, it's a Sprint phone and it's red...") and so I say, "ALRIGHT. I'm shutting off the service, goodbye!"

Ugh. So my mother (since I'm on her account) calls Sprint, shuts off the service. And since I'm insured (thank god. my mom got sick of my habit of losing everything and insured the phone)...I get a replacement. Should be on my doorstep by Monday, they say. YAY!

Anyways, that's not the point. I am aware that Lockline basically only gives out refurbs. How nice are they? (I know I know, but that phone was ALOT of money :()

I tried searching this topic, didn't find anything. SO I'm sorry if this is something old.

Refurbs are sometimes better than new...they will look new in most cases and have the latest updates....Some replacements are even marked refurbs just because they werent purchased and arent in a retail box....

98% of the time Refurbs are equiv or better to what you get new. Rarely had an issue with a refurb....

I Had A Problem Once With A Lock Line Refurb. Called Them And They Sent A Brand New Phone. Point Being They Stand Behind Them.

My Refurb'd 8200 is great. It even has a better camera and speakerphone than my old one!

And I also found out that it was *never* activated! (Thanks, Deval)

Perfectly happy, lol.

Depending on the phone and how long since the launch date, you could either get a refurb or a new phone from lockline...I've gotten both in the past...never had a problem with either...

if they send you something other than the exact phone you lost (because it is not in stock), just make sure the feature set is at least comparable to the one you lost...

It sounds like they have improved quality control with the refurbs. When I worked CS in a Sprint store about 3 years ago, it was embarrassing how bad our refurbished warranty replacement phones were. People would always have problems with the refurb phones and have to keep replacing them. After going through 2 or 3 refurbs, we would usually end up giving them a brand new phone.

I have always assumed that the refurb warranty replacements and Lockline phones come from the same source. If they don't, that makes my post irrelevant to the conversation.

How long did it take from the day you called till the day it arrived? I called monday night, to replace my daughters Samsung a680. Thought it would have been here today(She said a "couple of days")

Only thing I'm worried about, is after I called lockline, my daughter decided she wanted to buy a new phone, so she picked up the LG-535 that night, so there was no longer service on the a680. My credit card was charged the $50, so I guess they will send a replacement.

My mom called about noontime yesterday, and it came overnight mail. I got it around 3 PM.

Usually they say 2 days, but call them back. Maybe you might be able to turn the service off and ebay it!

Well, she did initially say it was due on Monday, and she got it yesterday (Wednesday), so I imagine they're not accurate with dates they give you. But I'm taking it Lockline is levels beyond what Sprint will give you in replacements. Because I've seen refurbs from Sprint that don't ring and just do some sort of loud and broke vibration. It's as loud as a Nextel ringtone.

Most replacements are A+, but some are sour apples. Had a phone where the battery's pink strip was already worn out and the side volume button and center circular pad were a little difficult to work with. They replaced it with another refurb, which worked perfectly.

What if there's a simple defect to the phone? Do you send it to Lockline and they send you a new phone? Or do they take all legitimate claims and send refurbs in X amount of days without going through the hassle of sending your current phone and waiting a few days without service for the refurb[/i]? Because I've had complaints from friends who used my phone. And even though I don't use the features, it'd be nice to have a phone without those problems.

what kind of defect?

Okay, took my 8200 in for a broken hinge, and the pinpoint charge was malfunctioning. Went to the sprint store (authorized) and was given a blue replacement refurb for the red one. 1 week later the refurb pops and hisses (like water on electricity). Back to the store today to get the replacement for it, now have been downgraded to a sliver refurb and the earpiece is hollow and weak. Store rep says all replacements will be refurb so either keep trying or keep what we gave you.

Can I use my lockline to replace these weak refurbs I have gotten?

they replaced your phone instead of fixing it?

Supposedly, there's some problem with my downloads. It malfunctions in some way when playing ringtones and/or games usually. I'll have to get back to you if you think you'll need a more in-depth answer.

Yep, they wanted to put a blue or silver top on the orginal phone. Hubby didn't like that idea, so we threw in the fact that the pinpoint was faulty. So they offered to fully replace it, and the tech are lazy too.

P.S. It was still under 1 year factory warranty, we didn't use lockline.
