I'm a little lost here. I just got a new Audiovox PPC-6600 but I'm unable to send or receive text messages or SMS's. I'm still able to connect to the web and get e-mails. Are there any special settings to program on the PPC? When I go to options -under account: text messaging options- it asks for a "service center number" it's empty I don't know if it should. Thanks. :)

If you find out the answer to this question, I'd sure like to know. Everything I've read so far indicates that the 6600 should have SMS but all I can send is email.

When you go into messaging look in your accounts - text messaging should be listed as one of the accounts. - sheureka

Just an interesting side note......we all know we cannot talk on the phone and email at the same time, but did you know that you can talk and SMS at the same time?

Yup, Text Messaging is listed as an account, but when I click on it, it looks like it wants a service center number. What's that? I don't remember having to fill that in on my old TREO.

Good luck! - sheureka

SMS works fine in my phone.....why dont you have someone send you a text message. MAybe after you receive one it will be easier for you to find where it is. I didnt have to set anything up.....click messaging, then inbox, then text messages, then click new at the bottom.

As log as you have it on you account, text msgs should work. I didn't have to do anything with any of my 6600's.

Mine said the same thing the first time I tried to send one, but after I got one, it worked fine.
