I recently went to a local sprint store and got the software on my 7400 upgraded from 1.28 to 1.30. They said that it fixes reception issues, and I have noticed slightly better reception. Does anyone here know if there is a changelog, or any exact list of all the issues the upgrade fixes?

Thanks!

I got a replacement 7400 w/ 1.30 and it disabled the ##USB# option also.

What did ##usb# do?

I think he means ##debug# which is NOT disabled with v1.30

It also allows you to just push a menu button number without having to hit OK after.

main fix is reception/dropped call bug, rest is housekeeping things such as the shortcut menu

good question? do you have to bring it to sprint or can you do it Over The Air somehow? Also, about how long does it take if you bring it to a sprint store?

You have to take the 7400 to the store for an upgrade, as it does not support over the network upgrades. I think only the LG-325 supports network over the network software upgrades.

before the firmware update, ##USB# had four options (modem, composite, pictbridge, storage).... Under ##Debug# , USB mode had two options (modem, composite)

After the firmware update, does the USB Mode under ##Debug# , show only the same two options? or all four options?

Thanks

I have firmware 1.030SP and ##USB# does not work. Under ##DEBUG# the USB mode has only those two options. By the way, if I attempt to connect to the internet using #777 with my phone now it doesn't connect. Use to work fine before. Don't know if my phone is just buggy.

So I guess if i want to still be able to use my 7400 as a modem with my laptop, I shouldn't take it in for any updates???? :irked:

I've been connected through USB cables through almost all my SprintPCS phones, starting with a VGA1000, Sanyo 8100, Sanyo 8200, and now my 7400. I had no issues with my first 7400 but with my second I've noticed two things - I'm getting tons of missed calls going straight to voicemail and lots of dropped calls and I'm having problems using #777, but, I was testing today and saw I was able to connect with 4 bars, albeit for 5 only 5 minutes. In any case, I think it's just my phone, and I'm going to try and bring it in for testing soon.

I got mine upgraded to 1.030SP without having to loose this "feature" (Although thanks to it being an MM phone, using Fox News Live/Orb/M2 Audio I've probably transferred about 300MB through that and about 13MB total using a data cable going online.

Nope--I had to go to a "corparate" store to get the software/firmware up-grade. Then you can go to the 800 # and download other software upgrades---but after reading some of the comments here, not so sure it should have been done.

Is 1.30 and upgrade from 1.030sp or is that the latest?

My 7400 still allows both the ##USB# and ##DEBUG#. I assume the USB function is merely to set how the USB connection is used and most would want it set to Modem. In Debug Mode I have seven items on the list: Screen, Data Screen, Errors, Test Calls, Rate Set (1X), FCC Test, and USB Mode. I have only used the Rate Set function to set to a higher transfer rate. Does anyone know how the other functions are to be used. I suppose the USB mode is the same as ##USB# but just gets there through the debug mode. Can I get myself in trouble fooling with any of these?

I can assure you that I will NOT be upgrading my phone to the newer firmware if it means I loose the Modem Capability.

I'm wondering if someone that got the upgrade got problems with the sounds or volume, cause they upgrade mine and the sounds are not the same and the volume is like nothing like use to be from the beginning, let me know about it thanks.......

I think it may have been a problem with my phone and not due to the firmware upgrade. I was able to tether to a laptop for a few minutes at a time on some days so it definitely wasn't disabled. However, this is the same phone that i was not able to dial or receive calls some times without turning the phone on and off so I think it was just my phone. I eventually got rid of the 7400 because of all the problems it was causing me.

Dumb question. Do you use Windows Terminal to enter the ##USB#? Or do you type that on the actual phone somewhere?

Also, I have 1.028sp and do I use DUN with the Number of #777, or dial that on the phone?

Im confused. Deval - so SHOULD I upgrade or not? Is the #USB function disabled?
I actually got more confused after reading this thread. Can you give us a summary once and for all? THANKS!! YOU'RE the GREATEST.

you probably should update your phone. updates are made to improve the quality of your phone. while the update does disable the ##usb# menu, you can still access it. i believe its ##786# or ##3282#. i dont have my 7400 so im not sure which one it is, but one of those allows you to get to the usb menu
