Note: this is the only Bluetooth headset I've owned/used.
First off, let me say that Cardo Customer Service did very well for me.
Before I even started using the Scala, I noticed that the holster was missing for it (it was brand new, also). So, I sent an e-mail off to Cardo about it; they asked me for my address and then sent me a holster in the mail. :)
Now, to the performance
(I shall throw in 1 to 5 rating also; 5 being the highest. Example: 1/5 = 1 out of 5 possible points)
Fit (4/5) - The Scala uses a flexible C-shaped piece to "hook" onto your ear; this "hook" can be flipped to allow usage on either ear. The speaker protrudes from the headset, but does not stick in the ear and allows a little more comfort.
The headset itself is very light, so that adds to the comfort; however, it takes some fiddling to make the headset stay in the right place on your ear (and to not swing away from your ear, when you move your head). Other then that, the fit is more than acceptable.
Sound/Mic Quality (3/5) - The sound quality is suprisingly good and the headset volume is adjustable. But, if the volume is turned up too much, there may be echoing for the other person (this is mostly due to the close prox. of the mic. Many headsets are designed with that prox., as well)
The WindGuard feature of the headset works well to cancel alot of surrounding noise (except for really high winds and extremely loud places). The issue is if you can actually hear in those conditions. Also, voice recognition systems are able to hear me without a problem.
I only gave it 3 points this time because: 1. You need to make sure to speak in a higher tone of voice (not a yell, though) 2. Some people may not be able to hear you well (due to the headset design, and possibly their phone).
Bluetooth reception - This really depends alot on the phone itself, but I shall tell you its performance with my phone (LG PM-325).
For me, there isn't much static at all; and when there is static, it's either because of radio interference or thick obstructions. I am able to get about 10-15ft with light obstructions (without any static). Pockets are not a problem :tu:
Pairing/Phone accessibility - Not a problem with pairing; just put the headset in pairing mode (according to the headset's instructions, located on an accompanying CD). I am able to answer, hangup, use call waiting, and activate the phone's voice dial feature.
Battery life (5/5) - Cardo states that this headset has 9 hours of talktime, and they are not lying. I try to turn the headset off when it will not be used for extended periods of time; this really extends the battery life of the headset (it goes weeks without charging).
Price factor (5/5) - You are getting alot of bang for your buck @ $37.99 from Amazon.com, for instance.
Overall (4/5) - This is really a great headset for those getting their first Bluetooth headset (or those who want a quality headset for a great price)
