I have a 5600 and I keep getting this Error 403 when I try to use the web. The error says the service I requested is restricted, even though its just the vision home page im trying to get to. This is satrting to get on my nerves. It happens more than half the time I want to use the web. The other day I got the error then tried the web with my friend's 4050 and it worked like a charm. Anyone know what I could do before I go to a sprint store and raise hell?

I live in NYC, and have the same problem...depends on the time of day for me though, it is not a persistent problem...it happens every couple of days during busy times (like rush hour)...I think the error is related to network traffic, not your phone...I usually close the web, go to my bookmarks, try the vision homepage, and if that loads, then move on to the site I was trying to get to in the first place...I rarely have a problem where after a few attemtps I can't get on the web...this happened on occasion with my 4050 before my 5600, except it timed out instead of giving this error message...

Is this the "access forbidden" error?? I've been getting this recently on my VGA1000 and it's really ticking me off. It lasts for about 5-10 minutes then my access is restored.

Restarting my browser usually fixes that problem for me. [color=orange] At least for a while [/orange]

I need to power OFF then ON again several times a day. I went to a Sprint store tonight. I had some confidence in the person there who said that Sprint has had sporadic outages with Vision. He said there was nothing wrong with my phone. My phone is a new Samsung i500. Over the last few days I got messages such as, "Blazer could not download the requested page. Please retry later". Then I would power OFF then ON and it would remedy the connection problem. I live in a close NYC suburb.

its the servers in your area, usually happens in high traffic times. if you call in and get a good tech they will switch your ips and make you connect to a different home agent.

I also hear that we should have the latest phone Firmware, in my case version XG23 for the Samsung i500. I am one version behind and I hear the latest version, in part, will help fix the data "hanging" or timeout problem. This upgrade can ONLY be done at a Sprint store, and not via any type of download, as some may wish to say.

you are correct. one problem with that is that i've noticed that not a lot of sprint stores carry the cables for the i500 to upgrade the firmware. wish that was something they would make available online like they do with the treos

Now you know we aren't supposed to switch ips. Or are you saying just flip em? And ya, the 121 and 113 ips are crazy right now, but it's finally a known issue with the network engineers, so hopefully something can get fixed.
Servers are like highways, no matter how much bigger we make them, they're still going to be busy. I am so insightful :)
I called CS on Friday night to update our PRLs and complain about this problem. My Wife gets the 403 error almost every evening (4:30-6PM) in Boston (within sight of the towers atop the Prudential Center) and it has been going on for ~8 months now. In the past they removed Vision and reset it for her, no dice. Friday night I get told that it is due to massive upgrading that is on-going and we should see significant improvement WITHIN A YEAR!! As I told the CS Rep, a year is a very long time to wait to be able to use a service you are paying for (in addition to the past 8 months), he agreed but said that there was nothing more that could be done.
Since she has the 8100 with ShortMail, would it work better with the 8200? We have no problem here in the Suburbs or in the mornings.
Is there a better way to push this issue?
We are out-of-contract at the beginning of October and have not upgraded HW (20 months) yet.

i have the sanyo 5500(vm4500) and ive been having the same problem every afternoon/evening with the 403 error. it's very annoying because i use my vision alot. i try turning off the phone pulling the battery off and sometimes it works sometimes it dont. i called a CS yesterday and spoke to a tech and he told to turn off and on the phone didnt work, he told me to pull the battery off didnt work, then he tried to reset my vision that also didnt work but he tried it again and it worked, but low and behold the same 403 error again today. this is really starting to piss me off every afternoon/evening i have to go through this and pay this monthly bill when the service dont half work.

8100 is usually fixed (at least every 8100 call I get with 403) by updating the vision profile. menu-settings-vision-update profile.
If you've noticed, its all east coast. They feed of ips 121 and 113 as nerdychick said. who knows whats up with those servers.
Switching phones wont always help, this is a network, not a device, issue.

i know what we are suppose and not suppose to do, i've been doing this for a while. but i also know what works. and since i'm in tier2, they allow us to do what gets it fixed.
and you're right, i have noticed an issue with those ips, but i just swap them, not switch to a different pair.
Problem is that our IPs are 68, not 121 or 113.
We had the Vision reset, no difference.
Any other ideas?
Waiting another year for it to be fixed is NOT an acceptable solution.
I'll be looking at competitive options other than SprintPCS for when our contract is up. Not saying that it will be better or cheaper, just that it's worth looking for something that works.

sorry, you misunderstood. all the ips start with 68. its the third number that changes in every case, and in some cases the last number. resetting the vision will put the default addresses back in. those need to be swapped around.
and also we mean the HA addresses, not the address you see in [phone info].
Still no go, our IPs are both 068.xxx.031.xxx.
Any other ideas?

I am getting this error consistently on my phone. In fact, I've gotten all the necessary codes to reset my phone on a business card in my purse because that is the onle way to fix it on my phone. The catch is my boyfriend's phone is doing the 403 thing, also.
This is what we noticed... it seems that whenever we use our phone as a modem for our PDA or computer the phone will no longer operate as a browser. Even though I will get a 403 on my phone I can still connect via laptop. I have unlimited data and pay the extra $9.99 for live TV. I'm sick of techs asking me, "If you have PAM, why do you need the phone to work as a browser?" I guess I'll have to cancel because no one at Sprint has a clue what is causing this... again.
Why do I seem to call Sprint at least once a month with either a major billing issue or major technical issue? Why can they never solve either? I get better responses here and then instruct Sprint how to fix it... step by painful step...

Heh... at least now I know I'm not the only one calling them with these issues....( I was originally going to ask if anyone had actually called to complain, sinc esprint keeps telling me I'm the only one with problems)
Sprint Tech Suppositories.. oops.. Support... actually admitted to me back in June that they were having server issues with web (and text messaging, which was my problem)... Of course I already knew that, it only took me 2 hours to get through to that that "HTTP 403, access forbidden" meant the SERVER wouldn't let me in... and it wasn't my phone.... ugh.
You guys will love this... I've been raising holy hell with them for 6 weeks now, finally got them to credit me for every month this year (I started having major problems back in Jan.) AND.... AND send me a new A900 free... Nice, I won't have a bill to pay for 6 months :-)

I'm sick of credits. I get a 45% discount on every months bill because of all Sprint's screw ups. I would rather have the service I signed up for at full-price than this pathetic excuse for cell phone service.
Has anyone heard of a fix for this? Even if Sprint has to perform the fix, I'd like to be able to call and thell them what to do. I tried just rentering my phone number and MSID. That did not work.

LOL!.... last week after being on for an hour with sprint customer 'service' they were asking what I wanted them to do...
... I told them what I wanted, was to pay my bill every month, use my phone without problem, and NEVER EVER have to talk to anyone there again...
Not much to ask for is it??? That should be what sprint wants too.

Synthe, Nerd Chick, naughty, naughty. If I trained you, you know how I feel about that. First of all, when you swap IPs for the HA, you still have to use the HA from the market you connect in. So for example, if you use 81 & 89 for a Cali device, it pulls the initial IP from 81/89, but the it grabs a second one from the Cali HA that their maket is serving. That's why reverse tunneling is YES. It tells firewalls that having a different source and destination IP are allowed, because outgoing packets have the IP from the programmed HA, and the return IP in the header is for the market IP.
And flipping them will only end up causing a load balancing problem and more calls. The IPs are assigned based on north-south boundaries, that's why they aren't always the same primary. The secondary is for per session rollover due to capacity issues.
Please, just try this a couple times. Retype the IPs that are assigned in Service Pro. I know you've had a hundred calls where just re-entering the same info resolved an issue. Trust me. Give it a shot. The most likely scenario is that the underlying data got corrupted and by re-entering it it gets written fresh to the device.
I've been doing this work since before Ringers and More 403 errors, so I know of what I speak.
Save a couple of those numbers and look a month later and you'll see the ones that get changed call back anyway.

There is a known problem with the A920. The problem is, Sprint is keeping it super secret. I've only had two representatives admit that the problem exists and they know about it. The other 100 reps I've spoken to about this issue have no clue and all claim it is the first time they've heard of it. In fact, I had one representative go as far as calling me a liar. According to him I was just bucking for a new phone becuase his A920 (no PAM) does not have a problem.
The problem is with the network - not the phone. I've been calling Sprint and waiting for resolution since Memorial Day. I'm not a happy camper and I will never refer anyone to Sprint becuase of these issues. Sprint has closed multiple tickets without contacting me. They constantly want me to walk through the same damn troubleshooting steps over and over and over although there is no change. They've messed up all my bills this summer trying to fix the problems also. They've removed PAM and they've added other items. No clue who authorized changes of that sort.
If anyone else has an A920 and is having these issues contact me by PM. I have some information that can help you in your battle with Sprint. I guarantee it to be long and ugly, but in the end you will either be released from contract or given a new phone (Fusic).

Well.. of COURSE the problem is with the network!!!... after all the error is http 403 "RESTRICTED ACCESS, connection FORBIDDEN"
Just the error alone TELLS YOU, it's the network.
The handset is attempting connection just fine, but the SERVERS won't allow it.
I went through this over and over and over and over and over ad naseum with the MORONS at sprint support. all claimed to put in a trouble ticket, almost none did.
Now that I've had the new phone for almost 2 months (A900) I've had fewer problems, but still have problems.
This phone though is on the "Power Vision" so possibly the problems are just not on the powervision system? (I don't know if that's yet another separate network)
a total PITA,

It took a new phone to fix the problem for me. Apparently the A920 is just slightly bugged. After three months of hell with Sprint, they sent me the LG Fusic. The problems vanished. Amazing! Doubly amazing when you consider how many times I was told that it was not the phone and that a different model would still have the issue.
I will never recommend Sprint after the nightmare I've been through, but at least I am working now.

I have the A920 and have been getting the RTSP 407 error all weekend when trying to watch .3gp's or T.V. or Zoovision from the web. I went to the Sprint store and the demo phone did the same thing. Of course you know what happened next. I called Sprint and told them about it and was told "It's your phone, not the network," even after I told them the demo phone did the same thing.
What do we have to do????? Some one on here that works for Sprint please tell the Customer Service reps that they are having a problem and to stop telling customers that it's "there phone's, not us."
Thanks,
AL in CAL

It is very frustrating to purchase an expensive phone and not have it work as desired. Are you using PAM? My problems were directly related to the PAM. I'm not familiar with a 407. What code is that?

My husband has been getting this error code (403 forbidden) since early July. We've been on the phone with tech support over the last month and a half for a total of about 15 or 20 hours, been in the store 3 times, and he's gotten 2 new phone (he's on his 3rd phone) and the problem is STILL not fixed. It doesn't matter what page he goes to (including the Sprint Vision homepage), it just doesn't work! No one can seem to fix it and it's getting REALLY frustrating! We've been through just about every single thing you can do with the phone. We both have LG Rumors and I've NEVER had a problem with mine at all. But his internet just keeps saying that. We just called customer service again last night to try and fix it and they still couldn't fix it. So then she told me they are putting in a ticket and that a Sprint advanced tech support person will call us within 72 hours. Hopefully that works... any suggestions?

I wish you the best. My problems with this error spanned over THREE months. It took me getting a lawyer to solve it. Once I had my lawyer call ing... well... problem solved. It was a new phone. Since then, I've had problems over and over again. Unfortunately, they made an offer I couldn't refuse when it came time to renew...
I'm still here with Sprint and I still have to call almost every month about the bill. At least, I no longer have connectivity issues. It could be worse...
All I can say, get a lawyer on retainer if it doesn't get fixed soon.

Well let's hope it doesn't go that far. Not to mention, we don't have that kind of money. My husband just got laid off and I'm working 2 jobs to make ends meet. I just want it fixed! It's getting ridiculous. If the problem keeps occuring, I'll have to do something though! Thanks for the advice.
