Just upgraded from sanyo 8200 to Samsung i500. I500 connects at 230kbps everytime, where as I got 115kbs from the 8200. I am happy:)

It is not bad, I just got it. I am just amazed by the internet connection. How come noone ever talked about getting a faster connection here with the i500? As far as I know, nobody is connecting faster than 115 on any phone

you are getting a faster connection between your computer and your phone. not between your phone and the internet. sprints network will only allow the internet to be so fast. im not exactly sure what the exact rate is, but you wont be getting any faster than that until ev-do comes out
I get 230K with my phone. Yup, sitlet is right, that's between your phone and your computer. If I can get 230K (that's the "K" for everyone that is techno challenged), I'll drop my cable connection!!! That's 1840 kbps (230 x 8), faster than a T1 line!!! Solid 1840 kbps all the time??? Sign me up!!!

Dale, the K is already in kbps (kilobits/sec). That's roughly 28kilobytes/sec

Could you help with connection settings for the 777 connection? I just got a Samsung i500. I have premium popmail accounts with Yahoo and wish to download mail to my i500.
Many thanks.

isn't it faster only because the i500 is a pda phone?

just in case anyone is still confused... that 115/230/480kbps means JACK squat....
it's ONLY the rate that the phone is connected to the PC via the USB port... hell you could have it say 921kbps... meaning nothing...
actually, going too high can bog the actual phone down, and LOWER your performance.

my sanyo 5500 connected at 230 after i updated the drivers. And i did notice the difference. Is there a fix to the 5600? I just got the 5600 and want to connect.

after you updated the drivers, eh? sounds to me like all it did was accidentally set the port baud rate too high...
trust me, any difference you saw was in your mind, not in real life.
