Nintendo also unveiled the Game Boy Micro this morning, here’s what we know so far:
Marketing angle: “We’re making the gorgeous Game Boy Micro for image-conscious folks who love video games, the ones who want the look of their system to be as cool as the games they play on it,” according to George Harrison, Nintendo of America Sr. VP of marketing. It’s clear that they’re going after the kids who are too cool to carry around an obvious gaming device but who don’t mind carrying something that looks like the cell phone that they’re already carrying.
Launch is slated for this Fall.
Silver in color for now, expect all sorts of rainbow-flavored variations.
Dimensions: 4 inches wide by 2 inches tall and 0.7 inches thick.
Weight: 2.8 ounces (80 paper clips’ worth of weight).
Processor: Same as GBA SP.
Form factor: “Gleaming shoulder and start/select buttons that literally shine”, removable and customizable face plate.
Screen: 2-inches, backlit and the “best Game Boy screen ever” with adjustable brightness controls for use indoors or outdoors.
Accessories: built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery; supports standard headphones.
Software: the Game Boy Advance has nearly 700 titles available, all of which will be playable on the Game Boy Micro.

why release this? It's a GBA SP! This is gay...Rather than take the PSP head-on ASAP, Nintendo will first go at everything the PSP isn't, using what Nintendo already has as their advantage (established fanbase, many GBA titles available and in circulation). The next Game Boy will likely be the icing on the cake.

Wasn't that the same as the regular Game Boy, just thinner (so it could fit in your pocket)?

Yep. It played the regular Game Boy games, but was really thin.

Found another picture to emphasize how small this thing truly is.

I miss Game Boy!!! Eventually, one of these days, they'll make something that'll make me buy.
Last Game Boy I had for longer than 24 hours was a Clear Purple (either that or opaque purple) GB Color!

Before that, was the original brick, Game Boy...

Good times with that thing. I played that thing to the death... screen cover fell off, rubber band holding the battery cover on, buttons stuck from spills... ahh, good days. I also had Super Game Boy for the Super Nintendo console, but my cousin stole it.
If they would make something in the original shape, maybe I'd buy a new one! This wider than longer thing is what made me take back my GB Advance.

I'm waiting for the supposed Palm OS Gameboy. I read about Nintendo doing something with Palm OS, this will be the next GB I'll buy.

Those original Game Boys were tanks... Mine is still ticking. No dead pixels, either, lol. : )
Anyways, yes, the GBMicro... As I said elsewhere (stupidly), I want one. It's tiny, I like that. And, hopefully it'll be able to take addresses and phone numbers, since I can definitely see myself accidentally grabbing this instead of my phone when talking to a girl.

i dont think it will have any new features other than the face plates. i'm sure that is a mock up because its not like nintendo to not have their logo embossed on the unit. only issue i have is the screen size. some games have fine detail and i dont think you would be able to see all that on such a small screen. text would be hard to read i would think. Still I will buy one. Hope the price point isnt to high.
