Yes, you can have ringtones on your Nokia 6016i.
First you need to order yourself a DKU-5 Data Cable. The one that Radio Shack sells part # 17-762 will work, but you will have to go to FutureDial.com and download the USB/Serial driver for it to work.
Once you have your cable, then run over to the Nokia website and download the PC Suite for the Nokia 6016i, and the make sure to grab the USB driver as well as the manual. The online help is okay, but sometimes the manual is better.
Unpack the Cable Driver, the USB Driver from Nokia, and install the PC Suite software. Connect the cable to the phone, then connect the phone to the USB port on the computer. It will ask for the Cable Driver, and possibly the USB driver. Once it has installed all the drivers it needs. Then open the PC Suite software and establish the connection. When configuring the connection choose the DKU-5 SERIAL cable not the DKU-2 USB cable. Since the cable is actually a Serial that is driver driven to operate on the USB. The PC Suite may already detect the Phone and tell you that a Nokia 6016i is connected via DKU-5 Serial Connection.
Then play around with the different utilities. The one that is MOST requested is the Nokia Music Converter. Once you have confirmed that the MID file is nokia compatable and will sound the way you want. Just open the File browswer and copy the MID file you converted and saved in the Nokia area of your PC to the Nokia 6016i, Gallery, Tones directory. To select the tone you will have to use the Open Gallery and browse for it since it's a non-default tone.
Works like a champ and the backup utilities is nice... Backs up your Contacts, Calendar, and some general stuff. It doesn't NOT backup your Text Messages which kinda torques my backside. Also any voice memos you have created aren't saved. There is very few areas of the phone you can actually see/change.
Hope this helps you out.

SprintUsers.com was created in January 2002 as a resource for users of Sprint PCS products and services to learn about and share information. We have cll phone reviews, Cellular Accessories, Downloads, PDA reviews, Ringtones, all of the latest Sprint PCS news and information, an area where you can find help in creating a ring tone or custom image for you phone, and so much more. The most popular section is the message board where visitors can read and write messages, ask questions, and get advice about their cellular phone from other users.
