If you were a professional athlete and had a contract that you agreed to not ride a motorcycle, sky dive, play basketball, or any risk taking event would you still do it? Being a Browns fan I'm disapointed what happend to Winslow. Personally if I'm making millions I wouldn't take any risks untill I retire. I guess big ben for the Steelers rides a motorcycle and he doesn't like to wear a helment. :dazed:

If I'm making all that dang money and I am really really good at that sport I would not do stuff in the contract that "I agreed to"..

I wouldn't. I'm not a risktaker anyway but I would honor my contract even if I was.

and to think they traded a 2nd round pick to the Lions (who got Roy Williams who they wanted anyway) to move up 1 spot to draft....man the browns can't draft to save theirs lives! btw the Lions used that 2nd round pick with a 5th to move back into the end of the 1st round last year and got Kevin Jones! hmmm the Lions look like they got the better of that deal (for once in their hapless lives)

Do you think the Edwards was a bad pick for the Browns? Hopefully the Browns can get him the ball because he has potential to be another Moss without the drama. The Browns are just cursed plane and simple. As far as the lions it looks like they have good offense but how's there defense?

You know, me personally, I have to admit I would have a hard time not riding a motorcycle. If I was a pro making that kind of money, one of the very first things I would do is buy an Orange County Chopper. But, I'd probably ride it once, then be very afraid I'd scratch and then just spend hours in the garage staring at it, a puddle of drool forming at my feet.
All the other stuff, I could do without. Being a professional athlete, I would get all the exercise and adrenaline I need in the gym, at practice and games. Wouldn't need to play hoops or go skydiving for that ...
The motorcycle, thing, though ... definitely a weak spot for me. Heh.

You cant pay me enough to stop playin basketball period...its the love of the game for me. Thats worth more than any amount of $$$. Yall can say what you want but i love the sport like a child. Even if i was playin pro ball, its the street or pick up games that I love so much. No big fancy arena, just a court, two hoops, and 10 guys w/ a basketball. THATS what the sports are all about. i hate the nba. Its terrible, i think there are a lot a people there who lost focus on what they used to love. As a matter a fact, I dont really enjoy watching sports period!! Im more of a hands on type of guy. Thats just my 2 cents

Huh? I thought this was about football players not allowed to play other sports, not basketball players?

...anyway, you have to look at it from the perspective of these athletes. You spend your entire life working to get on a team, making millions of dollars, all so that you can take those millions of dollars and live your dreams. Many of these pro athletes aren't living their dreams anymore because they have so many restrictions placed on them.

Now, you have to admit, its mostly their fault for signing a contract that voids these types of activities. If you're a wanted (wo)man, people will come to you. You shouldn't have to go to them.

"How do you like it? Its the fastest sports car ever."
"Why do you need a fast sports car?"
"Because I'm important, and need to get to places fast."
"But if you're important, people will wait for you."

aaron boone voided his contract playing bball and getting injured. he sucks and has cursed the yankees! why couldn't it have been giambi?

jp montoya hurt his shoulder playing tennis, or maybe it was a motorcycle.

i would find other ways to thrill myself if i was them.
