OK, step one... register for QuickTime Pro.
QTPro can export 3GPP movies, which is the format the MM-5600 saves videos in.
Open an mp3 file in QuickTime. I use mp3Trim to get just the 20 seconds I want.
Then Do "Open Image sequece" and pick an image to comprise your Video Track. Sexy girl does it for me. Resize and crop it to 176x144 and save it as a pct file
For Frame Rate, choose the lowest (10 seconds per FRAME) which will consume very little bandwidth.
In the new movie window with the image, Do Edit... Copy, then in the old window (with the mp3 track) do "Edit,... Add Scaled"
Then do "File.... Export", Export "Movie to 3G" and click Options.
For the video track, put the data rate down low to say 10kbps, ensure 15 fps, and set the "Key Frame" rate high, like one every 300 frames. Set video size to 176x144.
For the Audio Track, chooose AAC-LC format and pick a decent audio rate... I haven't experimented whether the phone's player has an upper rate it supports, but 56k worked good. Choose mono, A decent sampling rate (again, experiment!) and Best Encoding Quality.
Click OK, and Save the file with an 8 character ALL_CAPS filename, with a .3G2 extension.
Connect the phone with USB, put it in your pics and video folder.
Pick a contact, add the video from miniSD as a ringer and...
Smile... you have an awesome ringer to go on your awesome phone.
