Bought the 6400 a few days ago from Radioshack-- Sprint doesn't selll it yet-- because I was looking for a 3g phone w/o a color screen (it feels like an extravagance).

What that means is that I now have both it and my LG5350. I have used both to connect to the internet with my laptop, the LG with Sprint's cable, and the 6400 with the Radioshack futuredial cable plus Prolific serial-USB driver.

BTW, I would be greatful to anybody who could tell me what the speed limit is on the futuredial cable is because I will probably return the 6400 and stick with the LG for the sole reason of higher future connection speeds (with the true USB cable). Sprint did not make any USB cables for the 6200 or the 6400, and neither has Sanyo so far (talked to their parts distributor today). So futuredial's USB cable with serial converter is it for now.

The 6400 is great in terms of size-- anybody who's seen the 6200 knows that-- it;s the same body, and the OS seems similar... my brief run0in with the 6200 at the store left me thinking that the 6400 is a little more intuitive. It is definitely more intuitive than the LG.

For instance, to get the the last numbers you dialed, the LG requires hitting the left select button, then the OK button, but the sanyo allows the intuitive double-tap of the menu button to get you there.

Browsing on both sucks for me b/c of the lack of a working hotmail site. Though it's not color, the experience on the 6400 was more pleasant for me. The brilliant colors of the LG make it garish, and the feel of the LG buttons and navigation, after holding the sleek 6400, seems cheap and unwieldy.

Like any straight-constructed phone, the 6400 is more of an effort to talk/listen-to, but it is damed sleek, and light, and like I said, the feel of holding it and navigating with it is pretty neat-- maybe the action of the buttons is more solid-- it's definitely more intuitive, and doesn't have the HUGE issue the LG has of being impossible to hit the up/down/left/right pad without accidentally hitting something else.

Reception is very similar-- I did the triple threat-- had these 2 plus my star tac driving through the country, they were consistent, except maybe 1 or 2 times the startac was the only one with a signal, and once or twice the sanyo.

Let me know if you have any questions, or if you know about getting a real USB cable for the 6400.
