Hey Guys,
A couple weeks ago I ran into some bad luck and dropped my phone for the first time. Well, with very bad luck, it totally broke off the hinge (attached are some pictures). My question is, I heard that Costco has some kind of a replacement program or a warantee different then that of sprints, if so what exactly does it do? Also I checked my local sprint store and they said they didn't have the parts to repair it and they won't have them to repair the 7400's. I'm having horrible luck lately. Still, if anyone knows anything about a replacement program or like.......extending my contract for a certain rebate or anything please post! :-D
Thanks in advance.

Dropped it from my waist height (5' 8") to the cement floor in my garage. I was quite surprised as well because I've done that several times with my samsung and it never broke the hinge. The phone doesn't always hang from the wire like that though, because I can slide it back in.
I can't see the pictures....???? there is a blank space where they should be

lol, seriously.. the mm7400 is about as durable as one of those old brick nokias. may be easy to put a scratch or two on it, but other than that....
did you run over it with a tank or something?????

laur read my post, i dropped that piece of crap from my holster to the floor..and the floor was covered my carpet. its a piece of crap plain and simple. the mm-7400 does not compare to the nokias either old or new. you must have a mm-7400 made out of metal that i dont know of.

I don't carry it any more, but my last phone was a 7400 and I found it to be very durable. I've dropped it a couple times with nothing more than a couple scratches

yea, i dropped that phone so many times from the holster that came with the phone at costco and never had a problem. it fell in snow, fell from a bleacher at my high school and never had a problem with it. that phone was probably my most durable phone i have ever owned. it even fell on the hidge and never broke or cracked screen, you must have done something besides dropping it. just my two cents

costco will not do anything for a phone that is broken in 2 due to physical abuse or accident

There's so many of posts about the 7400 just busting in two from almost no impact at all, I find this very strange as well, I can't imagine my phone doing that, but I'm also wondering if they made different batches of plastic during the production of the phones, with some people getting phones with inferior plastics depending on when you purchased it. That's the only thing I can think of how this can happen. How can one 74 get dropped from a bleacher (I'm assuming onto concrete) with no prob, and another phone will break from a couple feet onto a carpet? I have yet to drop mine, and I don't wanna know what happens to it if I do, I'm really careful with it!

My wife's 7400 broke the hinge and she had no idea how it happened.
I've had 4 different 7400's and have dropped them all! 1 from a 10' ladder onto concrete and only the battery came off. It went right back on and is not lose or anything.
I, as mentioned in the above thread, believe there may be possible bad batches of plastic used in the phone.
Believe me, I have punted, kicked, dropped and thrown my 7400 w/o so much as a scratch. That is the biggest reason I had the 7300 and then the 7400.

different batches of plastic?
i doubt it...but there are always defective units for one reason or another.
8300's, 8200's, and 8100's have also broken at the hinge.
BUT that is not COSTCO's FAULT!
that is like dropping a TV and trying to return it!?!?

lol, must have. i drive a 4x4 pick-up & i dropped it from the cab to the road & it basically just bounced back up at me. nothing more than a scratch on the changeable face plate. ..sucks to be youuuu!!!!!! :p
You should be able to pay $55 in the store and get it replaced. As long as it has no liquid damage. That's weird that it broke that badly, that phone is very sturdy.

As I understand it, Costco's return policy for everything except computers is indefinite, no questions asked, period.

I've thrown mine so many times and it never broke. Except the front LCD, that cracked once. I've had at least 12 of them and that's the worst. o\Oh, except when I cracked the main LCD by squeezing it too hard...... :(
